We went for a Sunday lunch “braai vleis”. Very informal, tables are on the lawn with umbrellas and located around a duck pond. It was a self-serve buffet, consisting out of chicken sosaties, lamb chops, boerewors, and a wide variety of salads. Poeding consists of a warm baked pudding, ice cream and chocolate mousse. Informal Sunday lunch. Will recommend the braai vleis anytime.

If you're going to Bloemfontein, consider staying here. It's a country getaway on the edge of the city with wildlife roaming freely.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are large and comfortable.
It's only a 15 minute drive from the airport.

Upon arriving at Emoya, you really experience that WOW feeling, but unfortunately it's short lived. The reception was poor - as first time guests, nothing was explained of what is on offer at the venue. And it is such a beautiful place!!! Even the experience of having wild animals grazing at your doorstep, could not lift my spirit. It has so much potential! The nearby Restaurant has stunning affordable food on the menu, and it is highly recommendable.
Please ditch the terrible forgettable breakfast!!! The breakfast area is dirty, the tables are way too big and the tablecloths were dirty and stained. Rather put a few fresh fruits, a bit of cheese and biscuits in the room, add a couple of rusks and a muffin or 2 and your guests will be much happier. It is so beautiful to have a cup of coffee on the little bench watching the animals. Your breakfast offering is not a good experience, sorry..... rather do away with it and offer your guest a memorable inroom experience. And the pool area also need a little care...
It is a Cinderella waiting to be turned into a Princess.... make your guests want to come back.

Visited the ‘shanty town’ a couple of weeks ago. What an incredibly authentic experience we had!

The ‘authentic long-drop toilets’ were overflowing raw sewage through the street and though this might put some people off but, hey, we were after an authentic experience! The gun 1am gang battles outside the shack gave us a thrilling half hour, especially when a shot pierced the flimsy tin wall and lodged itself in my shoulder. This bit of the stay was only beaten by an unexpected morning wake-up call at 4am by the authorities accompanied by bulldozers, dodgy paperwork and an armed police escort who were there to demolished the ‘shack’ to make way for some commercial development. We had only a few minutes to grab our belongings and head for the door!

My husband is still trying to shake off the TB infection he caught due to the insanitary and damp conditions and our kids are still blacking out over the psychological trauma and are refusing to leave the house, but at least we have a good story to tell at dinner parties!

We are regular guests at this establishment. I made this reservation months before the time. The accommodation is comfortable with a double bed, lounge area and TV with a fridge. Complementary coffee and tea is available. A large bathroom with a bath and shower, our unit also had an outside shower leading off the bathroom. There was a small room leading from the bedroom/lounge area to a small second bedroom with a double bunk. When I booked we requested management (I personally spoke to the manager) if we may have a room with a single bed because my mother of 84 years was traveling with us and I was concerned that she might bump her head on the upper bunk. I was told that it was impossible to dismantle the bunk, but we must not worry they will make a plan to accommodate all 3 of us. I phoned a few weeks later to check on this issue and was told they will give us one of the honeymoon suites that was bigger in size and that was separate and private from the other units and they will put an extra bed in for my mother with a room divider to give us privacy. I thanked them and left it there. When we arrived our welcome was not very pleasant. The staff at the reception were busy talking to each other and left us there to stand and listen to their conversation. After a while the one guy said is there something he can do for us. What a question of course, why will we be in the reception area. By that time we were frustrated and when the guy gave us the key we left. Not explaining where we must go. Since we have been there before we left and realize that we were given the unit next to the reception. They did not honour what they promised. We realised the lodge was quite fully booked and that it will not help to complain. Luckily my mother was okay. Breakfast was not good, normal cereals, fruit, bacon and eggs. You would expect a bit more from a 4* establishment. Emoya you will not see us soon. To many nice places to stay in Bloemfontein that will honour their word and make your stay memorable. This time we cannot recommend you.

We booked in Shanty town, in one of the "shacks" and it is very creatively done!
We were really excited about the experience of sleeping in a "shack:, except that we did not sleep!!
There was a wedding in the venue next to our shack and at 5:30 the next morning they were still playing LOUD music!!! We had not slept for the whole night. My partner went out to ask them to please turn it down now. When we checked out we demanded to speak to the manager, that was apparently not on site. We left 2 messages for 2 separate people and until today not heard a word back from them!! Totally unacceptable and a real pity!!

Last week I went for two days to Emoya for a corporate function.
It was terrible. The food was tasteless and cold. The meat was terrible: we couldn’t even cut it. Every now and then when we break for coffee the water in the urn was cold or the coffee or milk was finished. The toilets were dirty and lots of spider webs were visible. I mean how long could it take them to clean two small toilets? We even run out of toilet paper the afternoon. The evening function was just as disastrous with spiders running from the wood carved placemats. It was very cold and it would have been nice if they could have turned the air conditioners on beforehand.

Raw food! Non existing service! Not enough food! When you speak to management they rude slam doors in your face. Was here for a wedding, down fall of the wedding was the service, no clearing of tables, food was so late, management could not cope. What you paid for is not what you get.

With Emoya being awarded as the best function venue in "The best of Bloem" and with hundreds of satisfied top companies we are proud to spoil our customers with exquisite food and good service. we had lots of compliments from guests especially from the beautiful bride who was suppose to be the centre of attention. Unfortunately with some customers with a limited budget we have to do the best we can. With guests having a ball till long after midnight we regret that certain individuals ( who apparently are in the same catering trade) took advantage of putting us in a bad light....We pride ourselves in good service and excellent food and will always welcome CREDIBLE critic to better our service !

We stayed at your beautiful Emoya! We had a function in your function hall, good service and great food, thank you. On the way back to our room, we walked into 2 giraffes, which was stunning, but also scary at the same time. Too little outside lights, was difficult to find our way there. Then our room was realky not well cleaned at all. The dust on the top of the toilet has been there for ages, the room spray made a ring on the lid. There was a dead spider, that have been there for quite a while at the back of the toilet seat. Spider webs hanging from the roof and bug poo all over our pillows and duvet. Breakfast was very basic and cold. You have such a stunning venue. Please keep it up to date. Thank you

On arrival no one at reception. Made booking and paid full amount in February 2013 for January 2014. On arrival they did not even had us on their system. This after we confirmed booking in December 2013. Not ideal after long trip. Will not recommend
