Excellent hotel, the history is impressive as well. The room we stayed in was well furnished and spacious as advertised. Dinner organized (at an extra cost) was fantastic and for a three course meal quite reasonable.

Directions to the hotel is poor. If you use the link from Booking.com, you will arrive at the wrong gate and spend another 20 minutes through town to get there. In the estate, directions are poor again, only one general board, but not at the turnoff. Christopher is in a different league. Works day and night, ALWAYS friendly and helpful and his service was just amazing. The dinner cooked by the chef was awesome, breakfast not so much, great fresh fruits, but eggs a little let down. All the rooms are advertised as being the same, but they are not, so do not be fooled by the pictures of the plunge pool, only for some rooms. There is building going on around the hotel at next door properties that was very noisy and already started VERY early on Saturday morning - this was BAD. Rooms are close together, so if you do not like cigarette smoke, be warned, people sit outside and smoke and then your place smells like smoke, not great. The room is great, but I have never had such bad bathrobes in my life, pockets torn and hard enough to use to scrub yourself, people, for this price per night I am sure you can make sure that the robes at least have some quality. There is also a bad smell in the one bathroom. Not bad overall, but I think there are better places that are priced better in the area. But the service is amazing!

Sadly we only booked for one night. This location deserves as much time as you can take. We had updated them with our late afternoon arrival time and because you have to enter the Estate/Reserve, I assume they warn the hotel of your imminent arrival. Elsie, the Manager and Elizma, the Chef were waiting outside with a refreshing drink. Everywhere you look there are small exquisite details both in your room and the hotel in general. I won't give any spoilers! The house, previously the home of the Fischer family (Google Bram Fischer) is what the English might call a Grade 1 Listed building, so the house's internal and external structure can not be altered. This has resulted in feeling you are in very personal spaces, decorated and fitted out accordingly. Our accommodation was in an external suite, a handful of meters from the main house. I believe all the rooms are likewise external to the house but I'm unsure. This is not a large hotel and so you recieve personal attention. Elizma went through menu choices with us and I just had to take a photo of her 'amuse bouche'. If possible, make sure the hotel has given you the code required to enter the Estate/Reserve. They did try to send us the code but didn't have our mobile number.

This has been probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in...... IN THE WORLD. And we have travelled a fair amount! What a refreshing and wonderful visit to The Royal Fischer Hotel... The room was spectacular, service amazing, food scrumptious and the overall feel a solid 10/10.

A quiet piece of heaven on the edge of a “ stepford wives “housing development, cleaver positioning gives the impression of being in the countryside. The suites are beautiful and exceptional, finishes top notch . Food superb , staff attentive and a delight , well done. Cost - you get what you expect at the rate . However at this rate I’m used to : heated towel rails that are working , shower heads that arnt full of limescale spraying in all directions , options on down pillows not hard fiber only , good cutlery not lightweight domestic ware , and please let’s loose the plastic palm tree . All in all a beautiful venue and highly recommended ( not sure how Braam Fischer got to be Royal ) but hay it’s Africa anything goes .
