Stayed in umtata for 3 nights on business. Rooms are clean. Linen was not sufficient eg towels. Breakfast was not good. Not enough choices. They could have made an effort as we were vegetarian and halaal. Rooms very small. Baths small. Congested parking. Two and half km from city. Traffic on road very bad. Wont use this place again

In case you travel through and need just a place to sleep - Big Five rooms are clean. Small and the bath room - well quite surprising behind a wardrobe door partly open. Breakfast - if no electricity break down - below average. Just some small improvements could make this place more comfortable.

On route from Port Elizabeth to Durban, tried to find a decent place to stay in Mthatha Chose Big 5 because it wasn't cheap and had good review score. Staff were friendly, BUT in our room only 1 cup and it was dirty, things in the bar fridge from previous occupants, couldn't find a toaster, the whole place was run down and not clean and certainly not worth the money..

Had a very nice stay at Big Five Guest House. I was later than anticipated and received a call to ensure that all was in order. Upon my arrival the gentleman was waiting outside to direct me. The room was clean and met all my requirements: desk to work at, good shower and comfy bed. Breakfast next morning was great. I will be back.

We arrived late after a long drive up from P E and had booked bed evening meal and breakfast. We were surprised to find an acceptable meal ready for us served by a charming African lady-Vivien . Our room was very disappointing with old furnishings and the whole place very shabby. The room was very small as was the bathroom but there was secure parking. However, we had one of the best breakfasts of our trip as Vivien likes to cook a proper English breakfast so all credit to her
