VERY disappointed. Arrived at 2pm and room not ready. Nobody showed any interest in us. Asked a few people here but all seemed to be busy with doing other stuff, than helping us a the guests. Room we were given is poor and shabby. Asked to change and infatically told no. Bathroom small, bed very small. Aircon suspect, towels linen are thin and old, pillows are flat. Very sad when you drive so far and have an expectation of relaxing and enjoying all that is described on the website. Our room Ivory should actaully be dispalyed on the website as the other rooms shown dont look like this one. A dog somewhere barked most of the night. We ordered breakfast at 7am and at 7:45am we were still waiting. Will have to find a place in Groblersdal for all further business trips here...

Being to Mthata so many times over the last year it is difficult to find a proper place to sleep over. But I can gladly say that I found this place. It is very beautiful, staff is friendly, food is excellent, rooms are clean, swimming pool and the best part of all they have an honesty bar. Really THÉ place to stay in Mthata!!

In a rich neighborhood of Umtata the White House guest house is a very nice B & B . The room looks recently decorated with good taste too. Very comfortable bed and good size bathroom. The wi fi worked only in the reception. Poor choice for breakfast: english option or cereals only. The staff was not friendly and looked bored by my requests.

Efter 30 mils bilresa från Port Edvard skulle vi övernatta i Nelson Mandelas hemstad Mthatha på Whitehouse Guesthouse. Det var tur att vi hade låst alla bildörrar när vi körde genom centrum av staden då det var flera som kände på bakdörren. Vi hade lite problem med att hitta till hotellet då det inte var så bra skyltat. När vi kom fram till hotellet så öppnade vakterna en stor port så att vi kunde köra in bilen. Hela hotellet var inhägnat med taggtråd längst upp. Vi fick inte lämna kvar våra golfutrustningar i bilen då hotellet bara hade två vakter denna natt. Personalen var trevlig och hjälpsam. Rummen var rena med stora bra sängar. TV och Wi-Fi fanns i rummen. Kvällsmiddagen var bara godkänd, frukosten helt OK.

Travelling through the Transkei you sometimes wonder where to stay at night. If getting to Mthatha a stay at The White House B&B is highly recommended for it’s modern furnished and clean rooms and bathrooms. The friendly staff is serving you dinner and breakfast. Although it’s a bit hard to find it’s well worth a try – new signs will arrive soon.
