This was one of the smoothest check ins - upon arrival everything was ready! The room was comfortable, with everything that we needed - it’s was extremely hot when we arrived, so the aircon was a godsend.
The restaurant was suitable, although with a limited dinner menu - the portions where healthy. Room service was impeccable!

I had been in the EC province for 3 weeks and two weeks I had spent then in EL. Honestly after my stay in EL I was not expecting much. I was booked into Mayfair hotel, I was very sceptical about staying there but honestly I was very impressed from day one, the rooms are clean, the staff there is so pleasant and always ready to assist. Because of health issues my food can be to demanding but honestly the chef's where very understanding and they really helped with giving what I needed, the housekeeping staff where also quick to respond. Honestly it's a pity there is no Mayfair in EL because I would choose to stay there anytime. Lex is really running a fabulous team from reception to the kitchen. Please keep up the good work.

Great hotel with such warm hospitality. The hotel aesthetics rated very high. Rooms are wonderful with just about the right size TV screens very easy on the eyes. Quick and effective power backup in these troublesome electricity loadshedding times. The switchover is so swift. Excellent service all round, although there is still more room for improvement.

The smelly carpet smell greets you at the door. They don’t change your sheets unless you ask so. My sheets old and torn. They would give me one two towels and cleaned my room in the afternoon . I arrived at 4pm from my meetings on two occasions and my room was yet to be cleaned. I had to ask for shower gel and they told me it’s finished and gave me small soap. When I complained about the sheets not being changed. House keeping lady came in fuming to change them. They are not worth the 4 star rating sies!!

My stay at the Mayfair hotel in Mthatha was such an awful experience. The staff was not so passionate nor were they aligned with the values of the industry. Thin walls- I barely slept as I could hear the TV in the room next door, called tirelessly to get the front desk to fix the situation, they failed. Placed an in dinning order, the lady on the phone was just plainly rude. Asked for a packed breakfast as I had to rush out to the airport early morning. I mentioned this upon check in, I called 30min before my departure to get breakfast ready. The guy came with a bacon breakfast after I had mentioned I don't eat pork- I had to leave without breakfast. I would never ever spend a night at this establishment and if you are reading this, I highly advise you take your money elsewhere. These people are literally running a circus! They absolutely have no idea on what they are doing!

The food at this hotel is not of high quality. You will get jam squeezed out a bottle; processed cheese; the menu needs to be changed for the price being paid.
Rooms are well cleaned, there is no bath. For the price paid there is no value for your money.
Great gym service. Swimming pool, stocked equipment, personal trainer.

We note some of your comments and once again appreciate the feedback to this. In response, we note the changes to our menu both evening and morning and some of them were and based on Covid and the response to this such as processed (wrapped cheese) contact less, Jam that can we wiped down Vs the previous bottled jam. Waiter individually taking orders. This was also further affected and decisions made on supplier availability of produce in Mthatha, keeping in mind deliveries are due from East London but what was 3 times a week to bi-weekly or once a week. The effect this has had on supplier availability, revenues, expenses and in that we only charge R 100 for a breakfast VS the previous R 180 P/P. This is also impacting rates by being down and selling 2 year prior rates. We wish for your return and return to our normal to which so many guests appreciated and we too hope not to have an impacted industry and i trust when you do return following the threat around the third wave we may very well be achieving your desired and more so our desired expectations for you. We do have bath/shower units available and in that i will ensure this is quoted to you on your next visit, lastly sir i will also like to thank you for your view on the gym and i trust in future we may indeed find all our facilities on offering to the same liking. wonderful rooms with beatiful view of the mall in the neighbourhood. Security personnel inside and outsdie the premises well idenifiable. the entracne is however bit tricky and not easy to find at first visit to the hotel.

I found Mayfair to be located in a right area for someone like me who is always on the road. I visited the hotel for the first time in October 2021 with a colleague and i was back again in April 2022 with a family. The area feels safe, rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. I give it a 5/5.
