We stayed here for one night. A quirky place but very nice ,friendly staff and breakfast covered all the bases. There was an honesty bar which worked well . We went to the local pub which they recommended and had a good meal . The area felt very safe

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Sandals. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the room itself was comfortable and perfect for our short stay. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast served, and if I could make one suggestion it would be to have muesli served on the breakfast table alongside the cereals. Overall, a great place that we found to be centrally located.

My boyfriend and I just spent one night at this beautiful guest house. We fell in love with this place and hope to return in the summer The beach is amazingly beautiful and it's just a stones throw from our room. The room has everything you need...a full kitchen, comfortable bed and a patio to sit and enjoy the sunrise and sunset.

Great location to the beach and close to the town. Welcoming staff. Rooms clean and spacious. Loved all the extra efforts made to make the experience a good one for us. Perfectly nice breakfast. Pretty garden. Well done! We would be happy to stay here for longer next time we are in the area.

Returning again and Sandals just keeps on giving. A comfortable and relaxed 6 night visit. Thank you to all the team. The little pool is great for a quick cool down. With easy reach of good restaurants just a few minutes walk.

Stayed here for two nights after visiting a game reserve so we were happy to chill out after a busy few days. St Francis Bay is beautiful and the guest house is well situated within walking distance of some restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable - would have been nice to have had a fridge, and the pool was very welcome in the afternoons.

The only reason for a lost star is lack of a fridge, otherwise excellent visit. Welcome greeting and friendly staff. Unfortunately building work was a bit noisy on our first night however we were quickly and efficiently moved it to a alternative room. We found the outdoor shower perfect and the room beautiful. Great location for the beach and walking distance to the local microbrewery. We also really enjoyed the two bay walk which was a fabulous walk along the coast to the harbour would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for three nights. Its hard to say why it's not amazing as when you look at the setting, the location and the building you feel it should be. Something is lacking in the service offered, the breakfast is fine but nothing special, everywhere else we stayed had so much choice on offer. The cleaner wanders through with her buckets and mop as we sit overlooking the pool. The honeymoon suite is fine but has seen better days, two minor maintenance issues, a broken chair, a plug that doesn't hold the sink water in the sink also there was a stale body odour on the cushions left on the bed. The towels and bedding are cheap and worn. I think that sets the tone for everything with the exception of the garden which is really beautiful. We have stayed in many guest houses in South Africa over the years and this is the only one that didn't have a fridge in the bedroom. We are vegetarian walkers and like to make a picnic for our walks plus I also like to freeze my water camelback. This isn't possible at this guest house as we can't put our picnic items in the tiny drinks fridge in the downstairs bar. We met a local guest house land lady on the beach who offered to show us some different walks if we called in. We asked to see her rooms, all half the price of Sandals and really beautiful with lovely bedding, towels and an attention to detail that wasn't evident in Sandals. Every single room also had a fridge. I don't like writing negative feedback as I always look for the best in things. However, I feel it would be insincere not to point out these easily rectified issues.Sandals garden is a beautiful oasis of peace and tranquillity, beautifully landscaped and a pleasure to sit in, sadly the guest house itself lags behind. It should be amazing as it certainly has plenty of potential. Some careful monitoring and this review would shoot from average to excellent.

Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Large bathroom. Lovely garden. The restaurant was closed because of the coronacrisis (and lack of guests) but we had a perfect dinner in a restaurant on walking distance. Rooms do not have a fridge but you can put your drinks in a fridge of the guesthouse. Staff very friendly!!! We can recommend.

We booked a nights accommodation at Sandals Guest house when we came to visit friends in St Francis. The location is fine if you are into nightclubs, however we were not warned that a nightclub existed just 50m away. Needless to say sleep was non existent that night. Otherwise venue seems fine.

Response from Tess Lonsdale-Strzelecki, Owner at Sandals Guest House
Responded 11 Jan 2022
I need to stress that your comment re our "location and nightclub" is not correct. Please do not make comments on a public forum that are grossly untrue! There is no NIGHTCLUB 50m away, nor is there one even 100m away Alan. There are no NIGHTCLUBS at all. It was either the bar/restaurant with a band (expected over New Years holiday) or youngsters playing load music at a house nearby. It was the last few days after New Year in a town (just like Plettenburg Bay and others) where a lot of families / youngsters enjoy their party-like celebrations. Needless to say we are back to the quiet, peaceful, sleepy, serene St Francis Bay! Pity your ONE night was a bit noisy at this crazy time of year. Guess what? We even have visitors complaining that St Francis Bay is TOO QUIET or "not enough action or nightlife facilities"! One can never win!
