Detailed Reviews
The only markdown is the location. If you want to be near the front you will need to take a Uber. That said the WiFi was great so easy to address. We were there for cricket so for us it was a base in between the ground ,airport and front.
Rooms are small but clean. We only used them to sleep so not an issue for us. Purified water supplied throughout our stay on request was great.
Customer service was second to none. Typical Brits abroad we didn’t have an SA travel adapter and they did all they could to accommodate us including letting us have their adaptor to charge our phones.
TIP : If you can buy an SA usb charger with 2 pin (shaving type) adaptor it will save you the hassle as I struggled to get an SA travel plug before leaving.
Breakfast was ok but similar to much more established brands across the country.
Free parking is also available.
Safety is always paramount in Africa and it was safe indoors.
We contacted the hotel prior to arrival and they arranged transport for us which is one less thing to worry about.

I picked the V&A as I was coming to watch cricket and it's near St George's Park, I couldn't have chosen better. It's a lovely hotel with large comfortable rooms, a seating area around the pool next to the bar and restaurant.
As a woman traveling alone, Duwayne and his team were very attentive, advising on things to do, organizing transport for me.
There were other cricket supporters in the hotel, and thanks to the happy, friendly staff a great atmosphere was created and they even organized a special evening with African food and music for us.
I can highly recommend the Victoria and Alfred

My first impression on arrival at the V & A guest house was one of welcome and what a delightful place it is. The staff could not have been more friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The manager was particularly attentive to a couple of minor issues that I raised and it was particularly special to have conversations with the owner who lived in an adjacent property and too his breakfast with the guests. My room was well appointed and very comfortable. The breakfasts were fine, perhaps an observation was that there could be more choices on the non cooked side. There is a nice bar and lounge area with outside seating around the pool. Given the number of guest rooms, however, the pool is on the small side - it felt like that two swimmers filled the pool. Overall an excellent place to stay in a nice well located area, not far from the sea front and very close to St George’s Park.

I was extremely disturbed by the manager from Victoria and Alfred Guest house when I had a bereavement in the the family that he refused to refund me as I requested especially that it was not the first time visiting the establishment to be treated the way he did was shocking. After arriving I was informed they will be charging extra for breakfast something I never did in the past and when I booked this was not stated either. The other issue was with their tv system that was not user friendly I had to call reception to get assistance and it would sometime just exit a channel whilst I was still watching it did this more that seven occasions.

Having landed ( after flying from Sydney via Perth and Jo Burgh) we got to the hotel at 8am to find the staff very welcoming and hospitable. None of this check-in is at 4 so we’ll take your bags and see you later: no it was come in have breakfast and sit by the pool until your room is ready. Nice rooms; restaurant and bar together with a lovely pool area for relaxing. Highly recommend

There was a lot wrong with the place. We couldn't connect on Netflix for the second part of our stay. The place had a mouldy stench from the moment you entered. In the bathroom there was mould on the showers, walls had marks, shower gels and lotions were half full. For a boutique hotel it didn't meet the standards, it was very sub par.
The hostess was also odd, she wasn't very hospitable.
The room felt like it was also missing additional furniture. Instead of having two beds a king and a single they could replace the single with a sofa to make the room more cosy. The place is dated and needs to be modernised.
My companion rates it 3 , and I rate a 5 mainly cause the cleaning lady was nice. Which was the only highlight for me .

We had specifically booked this property for it’s stated shuttle services to airport and evening dinner to save going out after a long drive. Neither was available and staff although pleasant were not on the ball at all. It was without doubt the disappointing stay of our 2 week South Africa trip. The property itself was clean, very pleasant and safe.

This is probably the best places to stay for the cricket or any other reason for that matter. The friendliness of all the staff was lovely and the support from Duwayne and Melissa was excellent especially for tourists from outside South Africa. Nothing was too much trouble, breakfast was great and the rooms very nice with Netflix. Enjoyed the stay and the nights round the pool chatting with other guests as the place for some reason encouraged interaction. Could not fault anything, great value and a great place to stay, must do this again sometime.

The slot meganism didn’t work, aircon was leaking inside the room, shower gave electrical pulse when you touched the faucet. Excuse was it must’ve been water pressure. All of this was reported, but nothing done to fix it.
Dinner was eatable, but for sure not worth the money. Meat was tough and couldn’t be cut.
I travel a lot and this was one of the worst experiences I ever had in a guest house.
They asked me if there’s anything I don’t eat and then they pack exactly that in my breakfast pack. No attention to guests or detail.

Very nice place, really nice rooms. Breakfast was great. No negative points. Staff was very friendly as well. Close to the airport and ten minute drive to the waterfront. Traveled in december 2019, it was a short stay but very pleasant, would deffinitly recomend it
