I had the opportunity to visit The Kelway at the end of March for 3 nights and I found it to be as pleasant as before!
Check in and check out was extremely fast and simple.

The room - one with a small balcony overlooking the sea/harbour area - was beautifully clean, towels replaced every day, mini toiletries and small coffee station topped up too. Parking is right in front of the hotel and there is a guard on duty.

I had a problem with my laptop and wifi and the night clerk was so helpful that I managed to resolve my issue. Breakfast was available at a very good rate to inhouse residents and I know from before, that they are really good!

When I book my next trip down to the Bay, I'll certainly make this pretty little hotel my first destination.

The Kelway is situated a little ways back from the beach and the decor is reminiscent of a log cabin - quite distinctive. Rated as a 4 star small hotel, the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The hotel has a lift albeit it a rather peculiar one and the bar area has a great view of the beachfront.
The rooms are comfortable and our seafacing had a lovely balcony. The bathroom with shower was definitely adequate for our needs and the room also provided tea/coffee making facilities.

We had booked breakfast each morning and the service and food was good. No issues at all except to mention that with COVID-19, you are served at your table with items that would usually be on a breakfast buffet - this was appreciated and shows the concern that the hotel has for the wellbeing of its guests.

I would visit aggain.

We arrived a little early for our room, but there didn't seem to be a problem and we were soon shown to our room. This was supposed to be a luxury sea facing room. It was neither. My husband went straight back down to reception. They said they only had twin beds in a luxury, sea facing room. We decided to go for that. Again, it was not luxury in any sense of the word. As it was only one night, we settled. Toilet seat was a cheap plastic that folded up when you got up. Rusty unit on the balcony. Barely a sea view. Chipped paintwork. Mouldy bathroom. The food in the restaurant was very good and so was the breakfast. Staff in the restaurant were very good. Reception not that great - they need to be more welcoming. The whole hotel really needed an uplift though. It is not on the beach as advertised, it is sideways on and a block away! False advertising.

I booked at this hotel for my daughter, thankfully it was just for 1 night. This is a filthy dump. I would not even rate it a 3 star hotel. We almost got stuck in the lift. The staff knows that the lift is faulty but allows visitors to make use of it. The carpets are so dirty and furniture is very old. The shower head sprays water all over the show which in turn wets your hair so you end up washing your hair when not supposed to

We stayed at the Kelway for 4 nights and it was lovely. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable and crisp clean linen.

The staff are very welcoming and both restaurant and front office staff were very helpful with whatever we were asking or finding out about.

Wifi in the rooms is strong and made for a seamless stay and no problems at all.

Thanks Kelway team!

Stayed for one night. The reception and open areas of the hotel, e.g. restaurant and deck, are spacious and great. I was however very concerned walking into my room with a smell of mould. That did not bode well for a good night's rest. The extractor in the bathroom had some black colouring which could have contributed to the smell. The morning breakfast did not impress. Although it was adequate, it does not compare well with other 3 star hotels. Not impressed and due to the possibility of mould, not a place that I shall want to visit again soon.

Extremely nice hotel and close to the coast and the airport. There was a slight problem with our booking, the reception had the wrong month but after a few phone calls this was quickly sorted.
All of the staff were excellent and welcoming. Extremely clean, really nice food and a bar which even showed the English Premier League, and the friendly bar staff even watched and chatted with us.

Everything was bad from beginning to end. Had problems making the booking. Got cheated with my rates. Had to climb two flights of stairs to get to a tiny room with a tinier bathroom. Hotel is a 1 star at best. Do not be fooled by ratings. They cheated me out of my Booking.com points. Seems Vuyo Makeleni is only out to make a profit. Everything stank like mould. Staff were friendly but the reviews for this hotel are overrated and deceiving.

We stayed here for 2 nights prior to a tour along the garden route.
Our room was large and clean with a sea view balcony. All the staff were very nice and helpful.
With had drinks in the bar both nights after we had eaten dinner down by the beach
Breakfast was good and enough choice to please everyone.

We stayed here for one night only after our final flight in to PE airport before driving on to Knysna. It was a nice comfortable room just minutes from the airport and for R1,000 good value for money, plenty of parking space. We also ate at the restaurant and found the evening meal to be excellent and breakfast not bad either. only thing it didn't have was a lift. Didn't use pool area, it was cold and wet, typical December!
