My wife and I stayed 3 nights here to participate in the Half-Ironman World Championship in Port Elizabeth. We were concerned that Blue Skies would be a little far from the race venue at the PE boardwalk but with a hire car it turned out to be the perfect accommodation choice. It is located in a nice, quiet, semi-rural green suburb, which ensures a very relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were nice and big and have a small kitchenette. The bathroom is also big and the shower was great. Breakfast is in a small conservatory overlooking the patio and small pool. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There are a few restaurants and supermarkets within a short drive but you would need to drive into PE for a good range of restaurants and shops. Therefore, a car is really needed to stay here. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blue Skies and we found it excellent value.…
This is a friendly place to stay with Hosts Jackie and Hans. If you don't have anywhere to eat they do provide a simple but delicious meal in the evening if you let them know in advance. We ate with them and other guests two nights running as we enjoyed the food and the company. We stayed in room 9 and it was well fitted out and had a nice comfortable bed. Unfortunately the weather was a little cool to go swimming but I would have loved to go for a dip in the pool. We will be back.
This most recent was my fourth or fifth stay at Blue Skies Country House over the last couple of years; an extended one of ten days this time, which I, again and as always, most thoroughly enjoyed! I was prompted to write this review after seeing only one for Blue Skies on TripAdvisor, written by GuguJohannesburg way back in 2012, which, due to its date and irrelevance, especially in rating the amenities, sadly does the Blue Skies of today very little justice. Since Gugu’s review, all rooms have been fully renovated and all are now en-suite, with a kitchenette, bar fridge and DSTV to complement the many other thoughtful and complimentary touches that have many regulars and travelling businessfolk returning to Blue Skies whenever they need accommodation in Port Elizabeth. Blue Skies is definitely my ‘home-away-from-home’ when I travel through PE, and Jackie Heimann and her team always ensure my stay is an enjoyable and memorable one – from Jackie’s famous homemade breakfasts fit for a king – to the many other tasty surprises from her delicious country kitchen. Besides the wealth of information on their website (which I encourage you to visit for more detailed info and all the pics that DO Blue Skies justice; please search for it, I'm not allowed to advertise the link) a couple of other ‘benefits’ I need to mention, include: • Exceptional value for money! Where do you get Bed and an Exceptional Breakfast, plus LOTS more, for just R300 a night? • Extended stay discounts! Qualify for a discount if you stay more than 7 days. • Pet Friendly! On arrangement, pets are welcome and the garden is big enough for horse boxes and dog trailers, and the Port Elizabeth Riding Club in Lorraine is just 3km away. • Location, location, location! Blue Skies is located off the Kragga Kamma Road on two stunning hectares of peace and tranquillity, safe and secure too. Close to many attractions, including the Kragga Kamma Game Park, the Seaview Lion Park, and some beautiful beaches. • Free wifi and a large, sparkling pool! Do yourself a favour and book a stay at Blue Skies Country House the next time you’re in Port Elizabeth. I guarantee you’ll be delighted with your decision, and very pleasantly surprised!…
This is a quaint bed and breakfast. The asking price adequately reflects the experience and value that you receive. The furniture is pretty old-style and the carpets have taken in the pet smell and carry that smell into the rooms and the bed linen. The bed linen is stained. On the up side though, the owner is a very nice lady and very helpful. We were a large group and she gave us a discount on our rooms as well as allowing us to stay in the unreserved rooms at no additional cost which is truly exceptional. The perfect ending to your stay here comes in the form of the breakfast. English with a combination of cereals, freshly squeezed juice as well as any combinations that you require. The place has free wifi which is a great added advantage. So if you are happy to over-look the smell and look of the place, you will have a good stay.…
