I will not really call Bluewater Bay a prime holiday spot, but we got exactly what we looked for, a self-catering flat (managed by Dolphin Dance) north of the city, so the criticisms of some other reviewers were not an issue for us - the lack of restaurants in the area was our biggest gripe. The flat was spacious, clean (serviced daily), well maintained, sufficiently furnished and had a well stocked kitchen - only missing a braai grid. It was also fairly cosy during a few very cold winter nights. All staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and efficient. Also represents fair value for money. Will not hesitate to return.

Hotel is basically a large house on a large housing estate. Its out of the town and away from the main beaches and any shops. There are no facilities to walk to near the hotel which surrounded by a very high wall electric fence and guard.
Photos a little misleading
The bedroom was small and like staying in some ones spare room. While clean and comfortable unfortunately its not suitable for a holiday stay there is no pool or gardens to sit in.

Great view of sea. Sea appears as if there is hundreds of Dolphins are dancing. We stayed there with family with our teenager children, However, the view is great from 2nd level rooms and not ground floor rooms. Rooms are relatively small but very clean and good, new like. Everything is running perfect - no complain and the owner is very friendly and the staff are very good in serving you breakfast. Breakfast are quite good. The place is little in a location where there are only bun glows so after 5 PM there is no activity and bit scary to get out of the gate. But the morning are the best part. Lovely view and sea breeze. I recommend for families who love nature and view. Must have a car to reach there.

The b&b has no direct access to the sea at all: you have to walk for not less than 1 km to reach it. No air-conditioning as well. The room are close to the living room and starting from 6 30 am you hear a lot of noise of staff working around. The photos advertised on their web-site are misleading. Once the guest enters the first time inside the room realizes that they are terribly small and over-packed with furniture. One of the armchairs in our room contained cloths, towels of the b&b and a number of times we made the bad experience of hearing the maids knocking at our door to take some material. The cleanliness of the rooms was also very questionable: during the first night we found a rag forgotten by one of the maids inside the bedlinen along with some hairs. There was also a spider net inside one of the armchairs. We have been lucky to have a 'sea-facing' room (you can hardly spot the sea beyond the bush), but many rooms have windows (and some of them even access) facing the parking area: I cannot imagine what nasty experience could be to hear an engine of a car starting only two meters from your bed.
In summary, this b&b does not deserve the 4 stars it claims and I sincerely wonder how they managed to obtain such rating. You do not get what you pay for. Not recommended at all!

I was not impressed at all by Dolphin Dance self catering. First of all the advertising is misleading - 1km from the beach... I'm not so sure about that. It's probably a 5 minute drive and is definitely not in walking distance. As for "garden" it is really a small patch of grass, and for a "sea view" it needs quite a stretch to sea just the edge of the sea (only if you're in one of the 4 units which is on the closer side to the sea). It does not feel like a very safe area, although there is an alarm (albeit with no instructions); and the area can be noisy at times. There are very limited DSTV channels, if you're prepared to watch on a 30x30cm early 2000s style tv screen. There is no dishwasher or washing machine, and the kitchen appliances are a bit dated. The fridge is tiny and struggles to fit enough food for 8 people. The couches are VERY uncomfortable, only one tea towel was provided with no cloths or mops/brooms/etc. The location is quite far- 15/20 minutes from PE town and shopping centers.
I will definitely not be back, and I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Although we enjoyed our stay in a nice room and had great breakfast, I experienced a billing problem which the hotel refused to resolve. E-mailed them several times and received a reply stating they would review. I sent several follow-up e-mails, but received no reply.
Too bad.

We saw the listing on tripadvisor as a 4 star lodge. When we arrived we were placed in a 3 start guest house with no sea view. We had 3 rooms our main room for me and my wife was the smallest. Our toilet also did not had any door so when you are in the bathroom the kids can not come in. If you open the room door you can see straight into the toilet. The mirror is also above the toilet and not above the basin. So when you shave it is a pain. The shower spill a lot of water. Services was good. Breakfast was good. Sound traveld in the house I can olny imagine the noise with a full house. There is no proper restaurants close at lest 20 min of travel
No self catering

We found this 4 star lodge and thought we booked it but were booked into a guest house with the same name.

So next time we will read the fine print.

Spent 6 days there and really liked the place, it's a good location for people working at the coega site as it is right between it and PE city, it is also close to the beach and supermarket.
Restaurant food was simple but tasty.
Rooms were nice and spacious and enjoyed it.
I do not give a 5 star cause the staff moved me in a very small room located...in the kitchen but could see the owner very sorry for it and offered me food as compensation, I would just have appreciated ab email or something to let me know that standard room were not availaible anymore but still, I liked the place

My colleagues and I stayed for 10 days. What a great place to stay when working in and around Port Elizabeth. Its location made it very easy to get around. We were very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The free Wi-Fi made it easy to work from anywhere in the Lodge. I can really recommend this beautiful place
