Amani Guest Lodge, tucked away within the tree-lined suburb of Walmer, Port Elizabeth, is a welcoming retreat for those seeking the best of city living, combined with the warmth and comfort of a true African lodge. "Amani" is a Swahili word that means 'place of peace,' carefully chosen to represent the sheer luxury and relaxation of this sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of city living. The African cultures are known for their warmth and hospitality. Amani Guest Lodge is dedicated to maintaining this important theme, treating each guest to a unique, indulgent experience during their time in the Friendly City, as Port Elizabeth is affectionately known. Our sophisticated decor, attention to detail and graceful gardens all play their part in ensuring that our guests are pampered and relaxed at Amani Guest Lodge. In addition, Walmer is centrally located. Amani Guest Lodge is, therefore, within a few minutes' drive of the airport, major shopping centres, doctors, hospitals and even the beautiful beaches for which the Eastern Cape is known and loved. *** New ownership since 25th February 2016 ***

We stayed here for one night prior to an early flight to Johannesburg. This boutique guest lodge is literally 5 minutes drive from the airport.
The proprietor Carl was charming and went out of his way to ensure we knew how to find the airport. He also gave us good recommendations for somewhere to get a beer and snack at lunchtime and a nice evening meal, all within 10 mins drive from the Guest Lodge.
The accommodation was comfortable and clean. I can’t comment on breakfast as we had to leave too early to sample it. However, Carl and his adorable dog “Buddy” were up early to see us off.
I have no hesitation in recommending a short stay here.

Amani guesthouse is in a very quiet little neighborhood within walking distance of some pretty good restaurants. The house is great and is extremely well maintained. My room came with a king size bed along with a walk in shower and a rather large soaker tub. The host was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. He provided a map for all of the local restaurants and assisted with things to do while in Port Elizabeth. Because of the Covid 19 scare of 2020 some of the amenities such as breakfast were not offered. My experience was great and I will definitely recommend Amani as a place to stay.

I chose Amani due to its proximity to Port Elizabeth Airport, price and good reviews. Carl was lovely and welcoming and made a delicious home made breakfast. I was very sad to hear about Buddy after him being mentioned in other reviews.

The property was gated so made me feel very safe (as a young solo female traveller) and the room was very comfortable and clean. Lovely to see so much bird life coming through the garden. The wifi was good and toiletries and towels provided. Good amenities close by.

Thanks for a lovely visit and will definitely recommend to others! :)

We stay at guest houses and lodges on a regular basis and I can honestly say that Amani Guest Lodge is the cleanest and neatest of them all. This year was the 5th time that we stayed at Amani and this has always been the case. The owners are always very friendly and welcoming.

We stayed here for one night before flying out of Port Elizabeth. We were given a warm welcome by Otto and Buddy on arrival with a recommendation to take a sundowner down at the pier. The Garden is beautiful and peaceful and the rooms very quiet giving a good night’s sleep prior to an early departure. Breakfast was deliciously home cooked and with generous proportions.

The accomodation met our expectation; very clean and spacious room; and a very friendly host. It felt like home; and the guest house is in a very quiet neighborhood. Almost every destination that we wanted to visit was about 10 minutes drive.

The host, Carl could not have been more welcoming and helpful!! Gorgeous garden setting, room very comfortable and spacious. Room very clean (could have used some wash clothes-or maybe I just missed them) and shower had great water pressure (fantastic after almost 24 hours of flying). Carl’s cooking skills are excellent (I almost burned the place down toasting my bread)! 😜. Price great and Carls knowledge of So. Africa an added bonus!!

What a great host! So easy to communicate with, and the place is always clean and tidy. Would recommend to any other guest to book at this property at any time. Carl is a very good talker always going beyond his way to accommodate you. Another plus he has a classic car collection and has it on the property.

Though everything was good I have realised that I have been overcharged. My stay in pula according to booking.com was P3280. 00 however I have been charged close to P3532. 00.This means the convertion of this amount to rands was also more than what I was supposed to pay.
