I love Chris Issac's song the Blue Hotel, so after seeing this blue hotel I thought I would take my kids for a cold beer on a hot day at the Blue Hotel on that awesome deck..... No chairs on the deck, and nowhere on this hotel does it say that it is now halal. No Beers at an empty bar. OK, we will have a cappuccino - the machine is broken, Ok we will have a milkshake - the machine is broken. Ok, filter coffee it was ....cold and weak. What a pity such a stunning little hotel with an awesome deck and view.......will never return

Business Christmas lunch Although food was good and hotel interior neat, drinks was a problem. Patrons were told the hotel was halaal and could therefore not order alcohol. Also, grapetiser. appletiser and dessert was not available. No dessert for a Christmas lunch should have been communicated clearly. Tripadvisor should clearly stipulate the fact that halaal food constitutes no alcohol.

We booked at The Humewood on our parents recommendation due to wonderfull memories they had from years ago and even as little as 5 years ago. On arrival, reception had my name COMPLETELY wrong after spelling it out for them twice over the phone. I also received no booking confirmation via email as promised. After a long day we wanted to get something cold from the bar, as advertised on their website…staff just said sorry there is no bar anymore. We drove elsewhere and had some drinks and dinner. Once we got to our rooms it really got intetesting, i asked Reception to check why our AC doesnt work, when we returned after dinner i was told that i can move to a different room where the AC is working…the room was half the size and the AC very noisy. We wanted to have a shower, no hot water and didnt feel like calling downstairs again. Before bed, my wife wanted some tea, the kettle smelled of stail milk, and after calling downstairs from our cellphones as the inroom phones dont work to ask for some creamer which was not stocked, we waited 25min for someone to bring us 2 X Sachets of creamer. We slept and the beds and linen was comfortable. Next morning, woke up around 8am, and was told by Parents that again there is no hot water in the shower. Management said that they will gladly switch on the geazer….8:20am…so we decided to go have breakfast in the mean time. The coffee we got was ok, server very new or still training but very unsure about what we order. We ordered Eggs Benedict, which has the similar description as the Sunrise i think its called, only for the waiter to come bacn after 5 min saying they dont have Eggs Benedict. We asked for Brown Bread with our breakfast and after 10min h server came back and asked if White Bread is ok, after telling us they have 3 types of bread. With this we have had enough and got up and drove elsewhere again where we had a lovely breakfast. I would be very happy if Management can contact me on our horrible experience. I also understand that Covid dealt all a bad blow, bad with any sort of OK Management, this hotel can be what it used to be. FIND SOMEONE TO TRAIN THE STAFF AND MANAGE THE HOTEL. Housekeeping - 1 Food and Beverage - 1 Reception - 1

I came to visit Port Elizabeth to have my bachelorette party because this is where I am from. It is this Saturday. I have stayed at the Humewood hotel everyday for 4 days so far. I intended on staying in Port Elizabeth for quite a while as I am from Dublin and came back to SA to get married and wait for things to settle down in Europe so I was planning to stay at whichever hotel I first stayed at until we were to return to Dublin. My hen party is on Saturday and some of my family and friends were to come to the hotel I am staying at and we were to have breakfast together the following morning and spend some time together until I left. So the customer service with some lady with tattoos on her arm By the name of Michelle.... unfortunately lost the hotel thousands in accommodation. I will definitely stick I what I know. I’m sure even F1 would have better customer service than this. The slogan of the hotel is the friendliest hotel in the friendliest city....that’s a lie. Michelle has given this place a bad name. I urge anybody who looks for incredible customer service or a short term home to learn from my mistakes. I will not be returning and my experience at this hotel will be something I am vocal about. I don’t even want to spend the night here even though I paid for it.

Wow, wow, wow. Amazing service, breakfast is excellent and dinner is epic. The hotel may be 3 star but the service is better than 5 stars. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is directly opposite Kong’s beach and the pools and public transport. Many many restaurants to choose from in the area. Loved it. Thank you

Great place for quick pub lunch - with great daily specials at only R100 for meal and draught beer! Definitely worth a visit - not to mention great view from terrace when weather permits! Will definitely return when next opportunity presents

Budget hotel. The hotel and the room I had seemed like it could do with a makeover. No power outlets next to the bed which is always annoying. The sound insulation is almost non existing and you can hear people talk in the corridor and neighbor rooms. The internet is so slow you can hardly run a normal app on your phone. Forget about streaming anything. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is not bad.

We held a lunch party for 70guests to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. The Humewood Hotel has been a fixture on the beachfront in Port Elizabeth my entire life. It is not a modern Hotel and maintains the atmosphere of a by gone era. The food was emjoyed by all with a great selction of good quality food over 4 courses. The staff were friendly and very helpfull. Thanks to them all for assisting and making a success of this great occasion.

After a very exhausting day in PE, we were welcomed by the friendly staff at the reception, who made us feel so at home. We had a wonderful room - clean, spacious and very comfortable. We were served a tasty dinner in the dining room by friendly staff. Breakfast was enjoyed on the patio with a wonderful view of the sea. No hesitation about returning. Will certainly recommend this Hotel.
