Detailed Reviews
I stayed here for three nights in a private room.
The room was nice and clean. Although it wasn't ensuite, it had a least a basin. The bed was confortable and there was free wifi. The shared bathroom was relatively clean and spacious.
The common area shared with the owner Dianne (kitchen and living room) reflect the negative part of my stay. It was not at all clean. She has a cat and a dog and you can find their poo and hairs everywhere, I just tried to ignore it.
She also isn't really reliable. The morning I left, I went to see her 30 min my scheduled departure, but she was not around and I had my valuables locked in her safe. I was leaving by bus, so I got nervous when the driver came to pick me up and I still couldn't find her. I had been ringing the bell for several minutes before she finally appeared and was sort of annoyed that I woke her up.
Although centrally located, I didn't have feel save in this area (that was the only time during my 6 weeks in South Africa). There aren't a lot of people walking around, even not during day time and I prefered to stay in my room rather than explore the city.
Dianne suggested me a combined day tour to Addo Elephant Park and Schotia Game Reserve. I was very sceptical at the beginning since she couldn't provide me any details about it. In the end, despite it was quite an expensive tour, I decided to go anyway and it was the best decision.
My suggestion: if you are in PE to explore the city, stay away from this place.
If you are only looking for a place to stay overnight and/or you want to visit Addo Elephant Park than it's a considerable option for saving money.

Having stayed in hostels across the world this place is pretty much what you would expect - clean, tidy, friendly and homely in feel. The area is ok and yes the place needs some TLC here and there, but considering the revenue from backpackers/travelers, I am sure they haven't got too much money to throw around
The Braai was pretty decent - lots of food for the money and nice conversation
Bed and facilities were fine and I had a good 2 night stay
Highly recommended
Enjoy

We were severely disappointed by this place as we had heard good things about it from the Lonely Planet and Coast to Coast. However, this place has been recently bought by someone new. The prices for the rooms and the breakfast (no homemade bread that was stated in the other guides!) are too expensive for what you get. The woman is uncommunicative and unreliable; she doesn't do what she says she will. The location is horrible and unsafe at night. Choose somewhere close to the safer beachfront where there are much better hostels (and restaurants/bars) for less.

I'm not sure what experience the reviewer before me had with the owner Dianne, but personally I found her very pleasent, the hostel is very homely and the kitchen is nice and clean. Lonely Planet is out of date as soon as it comes out and chances are the reviewer below me was using the 2006 edition you cannot expect everything to be the safe after 3 years!
I statyed in the dorm room and was the only one in there which was great, the location isnt great, its not safe at night and there is not much going in during the day. Dianne little dog, Moon is very sweet but noisy when someone comes to the door as she barks loudly.
downsides: no internet (again lonely planet out of date for this), I saw something on a desk for coast to coast advert in which she had asked for internet to be taken off...? I dont know why as I think the internet would be a good idea but in the town near the city hall is an internet cafe that charges 15R for 1 hour.
No decent shower, the bathroom upstairs something is wrong with the water pressure so hardly anything comes out.
Foreign workers stay in the hostel (so make sure you ask for the key if in dorm room to lock your stuff us ad there are no lockers), they also had TV on at 6am every morning before they left for work, very loudly and as my room was directly above it I had to put up with it
Despite the good points i would prob not reccomend this hostel as the location is not great
