Detailed Reviews
Great location within easy walking distance to the town centre and a short drive to the excellent beaches. The accommodation itself was faultless with comfortable seating areas both inside and out. The outdoor area has stunning views over the bay and is a great play for socialising with other guests. All the staff were helpful, polite and attentive and could not be criticised. Breakfast was all that could be required with a great choice of hot and cold food.

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. The room is gorgeous and the furnishings are comfortable and modern. The communal spaces are decorated beautifully and there is an upstairs terrace and a downstairs sofa area with massive TV and a pool outside if your lucky enough you can even seen dolphins from the terrace!
This place is perfect, all the thoughtful touches like blankets in the upstairs lounge and a big booklet of all the best things to do and restaurants to go to is great.
The location is close to town but the area is so peaceful, it's a short 5 min walk down hill to the main beach.
We had the cabin room and it was a great size.
Breakfasts were lovely and the staff are brill. I need to come back at some point, leaving here is the only negative I can think of!

Looking at properties on various websites the pictures can often be misleading, however the lovely picture of this hotel tells only part of the story!!
Having stayed at the property the picture, although very lovely, does not do the place justice, it's gorgeous!!
The interior is designer decorated in smooth colours, the rooms are very comfortable, (try and book the Captain's room) which overlooks the pretty garden and pool.
Venessa, the manager, is always on hand to give so much help and information. Lastly the location could not be better, 4 minutes walk into the centre of town and five minutes walk downhill to the beach.
This is the place to stay!!

We stayed for 2 nights in the lovely cabin room, which suited us well.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the property is light and spacious, well decorated and beautifully furnished with so many extra touches like fresh coffee in the rooms, complimentary sherry and all the beach paraphernalia you need.
What made our stay really top notch was that on the day of check out, I had a work crisis and needed to get on my laptop for a few hours. The manageress happily accommodated me at the table in the lounge, whilst my husband stayed by the pool. The staff even brought water and coffee. This meant we could continue our Garden Route journey later that day without worry.

Hands down the main attraction at this hotel is the view from the upper terrace! Wow! We stayed here for two nights and there was some really good, some slightly not so good. That said, we still enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. I believe this hotel is located in what used to be a house. It is nicely decorated and feels intimate since there are not many rooms. There is a gorgeous pool off the ground floor and as mentioned, a large terrace with a fireplace/grill off the second floor. Our room – the Shell Room – was only accessible from this outdoor terrace and for some reason staff locked the door out to the terrace overnight so if you wanted to get back into the main hotel for some reason you had to remember your key if it was early morning! Not a huge problem by any means, but it did lead to some back and forth since the rooms themselves don’t have individual fridges – just a shared fridge in the common area on the 2nd floor. The other not so great thing about the location of our room is that it wasn’t particularly private if anyone else was out on the terrace, since the Shell Room is basically all windows and a sliding glass door (see doors to the left in my pictures of the terrace area). Granted, the windows are mirrored but people could still see inside the room if they really wanted. When we went out for the day, we made a point to pull the curtains shut but when we returned in the evening, we found housekeeping had pulled all the curtains open, putting our room and all of our belongings on full display. My last slight issue was that at night the room felt a little damp – in particular, the bedding. I am assuming it was an airflow thing (which is also probably why housekeeping kept opening the windows in the bathroom – even though there are no screens and a ton of bird nests in the tree right outside as pictured). As with many other hotels we encountered along the Garden Route, the Ocean Watch Guest House includes both a cold buffet and hot made-to-order breakfast, and this was great. Plus, the view from the breakfast room can’t be beaten! The location of the hotel is also very convenient. It is located in a residential area but just a few minutes from many restaurants and shops. All in all, this hotel is a win based on the location, amazing views, and friendly staff!

We stayed en route to the Western Cape from the Eastern Cape and Plett was a very convenient half way stop with Ocean Watch a perfect place to stay. This part of Plett has some of the best views in the town in my opinion, looking east back up the coast and up to the mountains over the Bitou River. On top of that, you are only 5 mins walk from the main street and all the restaurants, as well as about 8 mins from Central Beach below you. Vanessa and her team run a professional establishment with well appointed rooms and attention to detail. Very comfortable and peaceful with a nice fireplace for the evening.

Ocean Watch was a fabulous place to stay the decor was beautiful along with the view from the upstairs terrace. We stayed three nights which was perfect for us. High praise to the staff, they were so helpful and friendly and provided a delicious hot breakfast each morning it felt like a home from home. So thank you Vanessa for all your advice and booking of restaurants for us, also a big thank you to Kaniswa, Jessica Monica and all the girls for making our stay so comfortable.

Stayed here in September 2023. Weather was horrendous but Vanessa and her lovely staff really looked after us even drying our clothes and towels . Nothing was too much trouble .
Place is just like the photos , spotlessly clean and the views are breathtaking we could watch the whales from our room the following morning when the weather was better .
The building is very secure and we used taxis at night again recommended by Vanessa and felt safe getting around .Would recommend.

Wow! This guest house is perfection. The service was excellent and very helpful. The owner goes out of her way to make sure your stay is perfect. The views from the main shared area over the ocean are just amazing. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and have everything your require. The freshly cooked breakfast was also excellent and the location was close to many great restaurants. Would highly recommend.

Living in Cape Town and traveling in SA. extensively we have experience of local establishments.
This is one of the best B&B we have ever stayed in.
The design, fixtures, service make it a one off. The position and views add to the ambience.
Vanessa, the manager is lovely and really cares, the staff all have a smile and are clearly happy.
One point, we booked late and could only be accommodated in the room they call the "cabin". Very comfortable, but a little cramped with no view. Suggest you go for the larger front facing rooms, with good views.
