We stayed in bosaven guest house n January 2020 when we arrived we were met by the manager veronica who was nice and friendly if not a little overpowering at times we were the o my 2 staying there for 2 nites on the second nite I went to the safe to get some money out and noticed there was money missing the safe was (key operated) I asked my wife if she had taken money from the safe and she said no she then checked her purse to find there wasa substantial amount of euros gone from her purse we went to find veronica but she was nowhere to b seen we decided to leave it til the nxt morning as we were sure she'd b there then, the nxt morning we asked cud we speak to her the lady working there said it was her day off but she was prob n her room she refused to come up at that time so we said we would wait eventually she came up and we told her the situation she said there was only one key to the safe which we had we said we hadn't made a mistake and we were going to contact the police she said she'd do the same the police came within 10 minutes as there is a police station in plettenberg we explained to them what had happened, the nxt thing 2 heavy set men came to the door which I can only think she called instead of police to Intimidate us but as soo as they saw police they left the owner of the house then came who we didn't get much satisfaction of either he obiously doesn't think it's wrong that money goes missing from a LOCKED SAFE in his establishment and it then transpired that veronica had a second d key to the safe which she lied about earlier we were leaving anyway but we are stil none the wiser about the money we havnt heard anything but I'm glad we got the police involved it might put a stop to it happening…
Bosavern Guest House is nothing less than a superb place to stay. Veronica made us so welcome straight away. We had had our first drive along the N2 from Port Elizabeth with torrential rain. Veronica had thought of it all to make life easy for us. She had arranged a table at a beautiful restaurant in town, Nguni, and even a lift into town & back with an excellent driver that she knew was completely reliable. The second night was also as well organised. Our room was very comfortable with every detail thought of. We were even able to get an hour or so on the deck overlooking an amazing view down to the bay. Would have no hesitation for anyone looking for a great place to stay in Plettenberg Bay, either for a short stay or longer.
This is a purpose built guest house c 20 years old. Rooms offer good space with modern bathrooms. Great views over the city and the Bay from rooms and especially the balcony and breakfast area. Whilst the lounge benefits from pleasant wooden beamed ceilings the rooms are all aspic white and some guests found the downstairs location not to their liking. Veronica the Manager is super efficient and helpful suggesting restaurants, making bookings and has a friendly (known) taxi driver on hand to get guests to restaurants etc. Her suggestions matched those of our travel agent and worked well for us. A few little touches might make it a little more homely, perhaps a biscuit or small cake to go with the existing tea/coffee facilities in rooms or even a glass of sherry or wine as some other guest houses offer? But a good base for us…
Lovely white house, fantastic views, excellent rooms, breakfast was great, lovely staff. We were mothered within an inch of our lives. Great find! two restaurants recommended were super and taxi was nice
Great location up high above the bay with perfect view. The difference here was the amount of help and involvement that was offered to make everything a bit easier. From reservations to transportation to advice regarding things to do. Fantastic attention to detail and a “customer” first outlook - great job!
