Detailed Reviews
Spotlessly clean place to stay. Breakfast was excellent and the view breathtaking. Was so enjoyable to sit outside in the evening with a cocktail and enjoy the scenery. Our host, the new owner, was so helpful with things to do in the area and even made dinner reservations for us. Yes, it is very white, but the new owner and the atmosphere are as warm and inviting as any place I have ever stayed.

Beautiful modern guest house with wonderful views over Plet Bay. Friendly and helpful owners who made excellent restaurant recommendations and advised about places to visit. Comfortable and clean rooms with patio doors into the garden. Good breakfasts served in dining area with spectacular views.

We stayed at this wonderful guest house for three nights during our recent trip. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Breakfast was good quality and made to order. Veronica is an excellent host and could not do enough for you and because we were arriving on a weekend she had already booked a table at a very nice restaurant for us. She also has two very nice girls working for her who cook and keep everything ship shape.

We stayed at this guest house for 3 nights in January, on returning to freshen up on the 3rd evening my wife noticed that her jewellery box had been tampered with, it was in a locked safe ( key operated ) thankfully nothing was missing, I then checked my English money, I was horrified to find part of it missing, I immediately contacted the Manager, who advised me that she would contact the owner in the morning, ( first mistake ) after breakfast we met the owner who informed me that he had interviewed the staff, the staff had worked for him for a very long time, he asked me to if I could have made a mistake, I am 100% certain that this money was taken from this safe, he then asked if I would like to get the police involved, the Manager then said it was a Sunday and no one would come out until Monday ( second mistake this is Plettenberg there is a Police station there ) the Manager then said we would have to come back tomorrow and wait until the Police arrived, I then said we would leave it as there was no way we were coming back tomorrow.
On checking out I advised the Manager that I would be writing this experience on Trip Adviser, her reply was “it will open up a can of worms”

Response from ormevse, Manager at Bosavern Guest House
Responded 03 Feb 2018
We have been in the process of carefully discussing and exploring the best manner in which to respond to this allegation of theft - not only as a long-standing guest house on TripAdvisor with an unblemished reputation, but also as an employer. We have no reason whatsoever to suspect the staff member who was on duty in the room from stealing and she is fully prepared to swear under oath in a court of law that she did not in any way tamper with the locked safe in the room. As an employer, we have to carefully consider unproven allegations. As can be seen from our reviews, we endeavour to make sure that our guests are happy, relaxed and comfortable. It is our sincere regret that you left us after 3 such happy days which, sadly, terminated in such distress.

The guest house was in a beautiful elevated position with wonderful views across the bay. The rooms were all immaculately clean and well serviced. The breakfast was all that you could wish for. We found the people running this establishment extremely helpful. They prebooked restaurants for us for our stay (a good thing as one of them was absolutely full and could only take us because we had booked) and even provided us with a map of how to find them. They also provided us with maps of the local area and what they thought that we would enjoy seeing. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Our stay at the Bosavern was made especially enjoyable by the new owner Barry. He was very helpful in giving us suggestions of which sites to see. The property is very well maintained and spotless throughout. We loved the Bosavern and would recommend it to everyone !

Having read some of the previous entries about a change of ownership we were a bit concerned about what we might find. We needn't have worried. Barry, the new owner, was extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for him. He recommended things for us to do, made dinner reservations for us and organised taxis for us. Bosavern is a great place to stay. There are fantastic views from the rooms, breakfast area and lounge. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. One thing we weren't keen on was the way some of the information in the room was displayed e.g. a note on the mirror. This was however a very minor point. We would certainly stay here again.

Absolutely amazing guesthouse! The new owner was warm and welcoming, the rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast was delicious, and to top it off- the most exquisite views! A must stay for anyone coming into Plettenberg Bay.

We had 3 nights at Bosavern as part of a 3 week trip around SA. The hotel was spotlessly clean, bright (almost too white!) and nicely positioned with views over the bay, and the hosts were very helpful and accommodating, but the place lacked some of the warmth and quirkiness that we enjoyed at other locations on our trip. Despite its position, only 2 of the 5 bedrooms had a sea view and a bath which was a pity. Breakfast was good and the staff friendly. We discovered that it was in the process of changing hands shortly after our visit, which may have caused some distraction for the owners.

The only thing that we regret about this beautiful place is the fact that we stayed here for 1 night only!!! Veronica, the manager, has great taste and recommended a fabulous place for dinner (Emily Moon) and decorated the house with candles to make us feel right at home. We felt very take care of. There are only 4 rooms at this hotel, so there is a lot of privacy and it's very quite. in good weather you can enjoy the swimming pool which overlooks the bay.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and also that the restaurant choice was to your liking. Actually, the guesthouse has four rooms but 2 are upstairs and tucked away so you didn't notice them. We would love to have you visit for longer next time. Fond regards Veronica
