The hotel is very well located. It is great to sleep with open windows hearing the waves. The rooms are rather small if you stay with two children, who have to sleep on the sofa-bed, but they are very convenient. The only reason not to give 5 stars is the long communication back and forth regarding the reservation and payment.

We are pleased that you had such a great stay and that you and your family were well taken care of. We are so fortunate to be situated on the most iconic part of Plettenberg Bay surrounded by 360 degrees of spectacular views from anywhere in the building. Should you require more space in future for a growing family, we recommend that you request for two rooms (Corner Units) - this will provide you with more space and still give you the security of being close to your children whilst occupying two seperate rooms. We also have suites available that will offer more space in the unit, however these are not always available due to their popularity. We apologise that the communication regarding payment and the reservation was not an easy one and will address this with the respective reservations agent. Again thank you for your wonderful feedback and we look forward in welcoming you back to this iconic resort in the very near future. Kind Regards

What a beautiful and perfect position. Magnificent beaches, great view, super entertainment for the kids and very nice rooms. Very well maintained gardens, public area and facility . A few pools, one for adults only if you are looking for a bit of quiet time. The only area where it can improve is the food, quality is average

My wife and I visited Beacon Isle, right after I had a health issues and expected a nice peaceful stay. It however was marred by me carrying my luggage up a flight of stairs since nobody came to help. I felt undervalued as a customer. The next day we went into town to experience Plettenberg bay only to return and have no parking at the resort. I tried to take it up with reception, but was met with smart remarks and thats the way it is. How can a resort not have enough parking for its customers and then have a smart arse answer to you customers. I feel I could have spend less and then stayed at a B&B and at least have a parking and not have to deal with management helping me see how the it was my fault. I felt I wasted my time and money and thus cannot recommend Beacon Isle to anybody, because I can assure you at the " Beacon" the customer is always wrong...even when they are right.…

Dear 77Willow77, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. I am disappointed to learn that you had such a terrible experiece as a guest here at Beacon Island Resort as we pride ourselves in providing great services and creating memorable moments. Unfortunately none of my management or myself had been made aware of your concerns as we would have addressed this immidiately and or assited where possible. We always have porters available to assist our guests and even if they are busy we will advise and allocate a porter to assist as soon as they are available. Regarding the parking, we have two seperate parking areas of which all are based on a first come first service - non of the bays are reserved. We do have a valet driver to park your car should a bay not be available near to the entrance (Should you be comfortable with this) and also offer a pick up service from the nearby parking lot so you do not have to walk back to the resort once your vehicle has been parked. We must humbly apologise if you felt dismissed at any point by any member of staff and I am happy to discuss this further should you wish to provide us with your details or you are more than welcome to contact me on louise.otto@southernsun.com. Food is horrible, service is even worse, only thing you will get is the views. On arrival it was packed due to long weekend, but they couldn’t manage crowds, a lot of us agreed that food was horrible, reviews on google are scary! Please explore other places

Beautiful, excellent and well mannered hotel, with everything you can hope for in a hotel. The Poters and staff very friendly and helpful. The gaming room for kids excellent, my son did not want to leave that gaming room. The kids activities are excellent and the live music in the evenings great. It would be great if breakfast was buffet rather than order system. The choices are bit limited on the ordering system as my older son wanted some food which I believe would have been available on the buffet style of breakfast. But overall, we enjoyed our stay there and everyone was sad when we had to leave. Will definitely come back again (next time I want a room facing the see).

What a pleasure it was “coming home” to my happy place this year. Newly freshened and redecorated, Beacon Island Hotel is looking at its glorious best. The room was ready, and spotlessly clean on arrival. The staff helpful and super friendly. We felt so welcome. The dining areas also underwent renovation and changes, the menus updated, delicious and affordable. And of course the SEA LOUNGE, must be one of the most beautiful in the world!! Waves crashing all round you, drinking divine cocktails, playing games and dancing the night away to the local talent. Dreams are made of this! And yes, there was plenty brochures, advice and assistance aiding one in making the right choices for a fabulous holiday. Canopy tours, whale and seal watching, beautiful walks and hiking trails, Monkey land, animal and bird sanctuaries, and a whole lot more. Ah yes, I can’t wait to go back again, and again, and again!…

My sea facing room was just amazing, and quite honestly, I couldn't, find any fault with it!. Even the bathroom was top class. The location is the best, and I will definitely go back again! It was very relaxing.

NO AIR-CON IN ROOMS For a 4 star hotel in South Africa not to have air-con is unheard of except here at Beacon Isle. All you get is a fan. When one checks with staff they have a take it or leave it attitude. A very sweaty unenjoyable stay Never again.

I am not sure how you had made your reservation with us, but I have checker our Southern Sun website and can't find any reference to our rooms being air conditioned. To have air conditioners installed has been investigated, but unfortunately the building infrastructure doesn't allow for this. The staff shall be addressed with regard to our feedback. Everything about this hotel is excellent. The location, the facilities, the staff etc. What a pleasure to be able to spend time at one of South Africa's icon hotels. It gets better with age!!!
