We had our first stay at Beacon Island last week and really hope that it won’t be the last. We loved the hotel and it was a perfect base to explore the area.
We were impressed by the precautions in place due to Covid and never felt concerned about it at all. Plenty of sanitizing stations around the hotel as well as staff employed purely to ensure that everyone used sanitizer when leaving/entering the lifts and the sun lounger area as well as at the main entrance.
We had planned to eat out in town most evenings but found the food at the Robberg restaurant to be very good so spent most evenings there. The service was excellent, too.
We appreciated the use of the in-room fridge to keep snacks and drinks cold. We often had a light breakfast or lunch in our room which was very convenient. There’s a decent KwikSpar very close by to stock up on essentials.
The staff were extremely friendly and a credit to the hotel. Many thanks to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable.

Had an excellent week and impressed with the staff`s enthusiasm ! The neatness of the resort is impressive and it was heartwarming to see that there is an definitative effort to keep it that way . I would however like to suggest better control at the entrance especially on the day when many clients arrive . Vehicles parked infront of the entrance should immediatly after luggage offload has been completed , removed to the general parking space.

Unbeatable location, well maintained inside and pool area.
Hotel staff were all friendly, helpful and competent, especially the porters and security guards.
This comment excludes coffee shop/patio restaurant staff.
Housekeeping were marvellous. Spotless room and bathroom.
A special shout-out to Ntombi Majova. I suspected I may have left my step counter charger in the room. She responded immediately to my query and kept in touch regarding their search. (It was subsequently found in a different hotel)
The hotel was clean and Covid-19 protocols were followed consistently, even at the pool area.
We stayed there for a week and service at the coffee shop restaurant was consistently awful. Slow and don’t care attitude from staff. We never saw anyone who could be identified as a manager. They would have immediately seen how slow the service was.
We love staying at the resort and if the coffee shop service can be rectified it would once again be a perfect holiday location!

Where to start... . My husband and I were first time visitors to the resort, having exchanged our Umhlanga Sands timeshare week for a week at The Beacon Isle. Not knowing that you have to book a room beforehand with the hotel and with the hotel fully booked, we were given room 116, which looks due west into the full afternoon sun. Our bedroom is our home from home, where we spend a lot of our time. This was impossible as we had to close the balcony door and close the blockout blinds and sit with the lights on, when we were in the room in the afternoon. Besides this dreadful room location it was without soap, tissues, shampoo, drinking glasses, inhouse brochure with hotel facilities and no room service menu.. Also a blocked shower outlet and a broken door lock hinge. The tiny dustbin's inner bag was only replaced on request. .Luckily, despite having to wait 4 days, another room became available. Much improved in all areas. So our question is How consistent is the housekeeping? Both rooms had tiny bathrooms ,hardly enough space for 2 people at the same time. In general the hotel lacked management. Having given some of our complaints to reception and some attended to, others weren't and there was no follow up nor appreciation for messing us around when promised a new room on day 3 and we had to wait an additional day due to a mix up with reservations. It appears as if the staff do their own thing and often as little as possible. An example being dirty dishes left outside the lift on floor 3. They were left there for 2 hours despite 2 phone calls to housekeeping. The ice machines on most floors are in total disrepair. I understand that the hotel does not encourage people to drink or eat in their rooms but drinking glasses and a larger fridge in the room would be welcome.
We also felt that a footbath, to wash off beach sand, should be made available close to the side entrance, leading to the pool area. I must admit that once we had changed rooms we were a lot happier. However, will we go back? The answer is NO!! It needs a lot more personal caring staff.

Dear INGRIDALEXANDRA123 Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor after your recent stay at The Beacon Island Resort. Your feedback is valuable and important to us. The only units that we are allowed to change are Sunswop/RCI units all other units such as owner and club units are not permitted to be changed. This makes the pool for room changed very limited. Our reservation team does their utmost to accommodate guest requests but sometimes this is not possible due to high owner occupancy. The resort only provides a starter pack of teak/coffee upon arrival and soap and tissues are also provided. No shampoo etc is provided. To reduce our plastic useage, bin bags are replaced/provided upon request. The fact that there was no soap , drinking glasses and a service directory in your room in unacceptable and has been addressed with the parties concerned. The maintenance issues in your room have since been repaired and corrective action has since be taken to ensure that all rooms are checked prior to a guests arrival. Your suggestion to have a foot bath near the outdoor pool has been noted, at this stage we ask that our guests make use of the showers at Pro Dive. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention and please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience. Should you require any further information please don't hesitate to contact us. The hotel room revamp and reception are to be redone in May will ensure a true world class facility. The food quality has improved substantially since the decision to go "in house " However, the food service turnabout times need serious attention and the service on the lawn is almost non existent. These are matters of internal discipline but they have a huge effect on visitors perceptions.

It's our second time that we stayed at the Beacon Island Hotel. Since our last visit they have renovated the rooms. It's beautifully done and well thought through. USB ports next to the bed on both sides. The decor is modern and tasteful. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Nice and clean. The only problem was that they are redoing the menus in the hotel and the food is not always consistent. And the Beacon Isle Cafe's menu was very limited and did not cater for people that like to eat healthy. But for the rest great entertainment and a well organised Hotel.

I've been coming to Beacon Island just about every year since I was a child, and I still love visiting the hotel. The accommodation is lovely and really comfortable, the entertainment team go out of their way to make sure that guests are having fun. But there's one aspect that gets worse each year, and that's the restaurant.
Meals are really pricey, which would be understandable if they offered great food. But the food itself is mediocre at best. So you end up paying 5* prices for 3* meals. And that's being generous. What should be an all-inclusive experience when you visit the hotel ends up seeing you going out into the cold every night to find something better in town. And there are plenty of better, and less costly, restaurants out there. I can see no reason whatsoever to eat at the hotel.

The Beacon Island Hotel is Heaven on Earth. Besides being the most magnificent views surrounded by ocean as if one was on a stationary ship, the staff are a DREAM. You are greeted with smiles and from then onwards they cannot do enough for you. Many have been there for decades so returning every year to our "friends" who help with your baggage and thereafter every need from breakfast to dinner to nightly entertainment. I never want to leave even though its an international flight and then local flight each year!

This is a great family destination for a beach holiday - all year round. We have visited in December (high summer) and in June (mid winter). The weather is amazing in Plett.
The hotel has been recently been updated and it looks stunning. They cater for all ages of kids with loads of activities to keep them busy while we lie pool side and order drinks.
Food is reasonably priced but you do feel you could just as well eat outside of the hotel as the prices are the same as any restaurant in town.
Only complaint is the service. Busy time or not a busy time of the year - it takes a while to catch a waiters attention and then some more time to get them back to you table. Luckily I have patience during a holiday - but this could be better.

We swopped our timeshare for this wonderful resort. All staff was friendly and efficient. We had one breakfast and 2 evening meals which were both very good. On Wednesday evening they had a fish and chips special when you received a free glass of wine, with your meal for R110. The views from our room were spectacular. I Will definitely try and stay here again.
