This is a small but tasteful hotel on a bluff with fabulous views along the beach. Our top floor room - 24 - had a small balcony and a wonderful aspect. Freshly decorated and furnished in shades of blue and white, the room was well furnished with a sofa overlooking the view and a very comfy bed with a ridiculous no of pillows. There were blackout curtains and we slept very well. The TV was small and only had basic channels which normally wouldn't be an issue but due to the curfew we were back in our room not long after 8 pm and had to resort to downloading programmes on our ipad.

The bathroom was exceptionally well appointed with two sinks, a free standing bath and a spacious shower cubicle. The wardrobe was also in the bathroom which was a bit peculiar but meant the bedroom was less cramped and it was large.

The service everywhere was excellent. MJ the manager was very evident and the receptionists were helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfasts were very good and coffee plentiful. The waiters memorised our order after the first day and so everything was very slick. The lounge and bar areas are very nice altho sadly underused due to the alcohol ban. The pool in the garden of the main hotel is rather small but there's a better pool for swimming in the annex over the road. Both have great views over the sea so are nice for sunbathing.

The small spa, next door, was very good and I had both an excellent massage and pedicure (which still looks good nearly three months on!).

Sadly, due to COVID the hotel was almost empty during our stay so we didn't really get the opportunity to enjoy it at its best although everyone couldn't have tried harder to make our stay memorable. We'll be back.

After a long drive from Cape Town,we were greeted in the quiet road which divides the two grand seaside buildings of the Plettenburg Hotel, and guided to a parking place. Our bags were taken to reception and we were shown into one of the elegant drawing rooms where check-in was completed.
This was the start of a wonderful overnight stay in a gorgeous hotel. The soft furnishings in the bright airy rooms are stylish, elegant and so comfortable. Our heads sank into the softest pillows. The bathroom complimentaries are Moulton Brown. The views of Plettenburg's beaches are wonderful. Dining was superb. Staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The minibar was free the first night, including beer, crisps and even a jar of wine gums! This truly is a special hotel where guests can expect unexpected treats along with top quality service and comfort.

If you are visiting Garden Route, South Africa this is the best place to be.

Lovely peaceful place with breathtaking sea views from arrival, swimming to dining 🤗. Seafood restaurant not only gives best views and a relaxed feel but it really is a taste of the bay 😋

Amazingly welcoming and helpful stuff😊.

Loads of activities in the area and The Plettenberg is central  location to most activities too and their friendly consultants are great help with booking activities.

It's the small little things that counts and with them I loved all the complimentary services they offered us. Celebrating our son's birthday with you was the best!

I speak highly of The Plettenberg!

We arrived on Tuesday 5th February so looking forward to what we were told the Plettenberg stands for( top quality). WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.
We arrived after travelling from London the night before and travelling all day Johannesburg exhausted , to be shown a room not fitting our standards or anyone else’s paying 10 thousand Rand a night.
We were then obliged to pay an upgrade of 2500 rand a night to get a room that was acceptable but not 12500 rands worth.
Unfortunately we won’t be returning or ever recommending this hotel to any of our friends, which is a shame as we have family in the area and will be coming regularly now.

Dear Bushpig 1966 We are sorry you found the room expensive. Our rates are however in line with other 5 star Hotels in the Western Cape, many of which do not have our spectacular position with proximity to the sea and beach. Our prices in peak season are also of course higher than in other seasons. We also strive to give our guests the best possible service and as such we employ wonderful staff who receive very favourable comments from the majority of our guests. Kind regards, MJ, Wiida and The Team

Incredible few days staying at the Plettenberg. We absolutely loved it and its a truly unique and special place. Starting firstly with the location - phenomenal views out onto Lookout and Central beaches with two infinity pools and views that you could stare at for days, plus making it easy to pop down to the beach as and when you wanted to. The interiors of the hotel are also absolutely stunning - each room oozes with class and colour - really stunning. Breakfast and lunch were delicious and the hotel also has a small gym with everything that you might need. The staff were also really wonderful and always on hand for recommendations or advice for the local area. We absolutely loved our stay here, cannot recommend it enough and would love to return.

Stayed here December 2019 for 2 nights, Had sea-view room (room 26) which also looked over the small pool area. Hotel itself is lovely & beautifully decorated. Breakfasts were excellent with great choices. Dinner in restaurant one night. which was very nice, Found staff to be friendly and attentive especially the hotel manager who led by example in creating good guest relations and working tirelessly. Was put off using the pool, due to the many gulls that seem to take up residence in it!!

We arrived and were greeted by a vibrant welcoming front desk and outstanding panoramic sea views from the restuarant . All the managers are eager to help and are excited to recommend places to go on Plett. The hotel is very peaceful and serene with beautiful sea gulls having a drink on the edge of the infinity pool . The breakfast is perfectly presented and they had a lovely menu for our son who was eager to try something new each day. Including pan cakes, french toast, waffles :)

When I walked into our "Beach House", I was shocked by how perfectly clean and well looked after the property is. There was not a thing out of place. We had our own heated pool and the house faces perfectly over the sea and gets amazing morning and afternoon sun. Light and bright with hints of blue throughout. My son was super surprised by his huge king bed with massive TV with all the channels he enjoys. He had special kids bubble bath, shower gel and he had his own little gown with a welcome bag. Of course, I enjoyed my Morton Brown products which smell lovely.

We loved the top heated pool which had views surrounding the bay. The conceirge/duty manager was really sweet, gave my son goggles for the pool and a bucket and spade when we walked down to the beach.

I think the most memorable thing for me was how happy everyone is. From the security to the general manager. It felt like home to us!

Manager MJ really went out of his way to accommodate me and attend to my various requests, thank you! Also special thanks to the deputy manager (early Sunday morning), lovely lady whose name I cannot remember. The views of the ocean alone make this place worth a stay but make sure you choose a room that has a view. The layout of the rooms could be improved with uninterrupted glass. The fish and chips was delicious at the restaurant but the management needs a bit of a shake.

Dear Marc C, We unfortunately do not have a gym at the hotel but we can offer you our "gym in a bag" which you are more than welcome to use in the privacy of your room or out on the lawn next to one of the swimming pools. We are 5 minutes walk from two beautiful beaches for running and the is Robberg Nature Reserve if you would like to do some trail running.
