After visiting in October 2023 and my little love affair with the local kitty, Seun, I couldnt wait for another opportunity to return to this amazing holiday spot. The staff are all incredibly friendly and when we arrived we were greeted by what felt like good friends. Sadly, when Jack fetched us from the mainland he informed me that Seun (which he referred to as "your cat") had been badly injured the day before and was at the vet. So it was only on our last night that the little 4-legged kitty was well enough to come and visit and I was rewarded with a wonderful night of cuddles from this very special little boy.

The zebras came to shelter from the rain on our stoep and were so close we could have touched them. What an amazing place this island is. The thing I love most is that it is truly an escape where there is not much to do on the actual island apart from relax, soak up the natural beauty, walk, swim and rejuvenate the soul.

The accommodation is spotless and beautifully decorated with lots of extra touches to make it really comfortable and I could think of not even a single negative comment - I even love the fact that there is no TV.

To explore the surrounds, Plett (a real tourist destination), is a mere few minutes away and offers too many activities to list, like walking and interacting with elephants, wine tasting, visiting monkeyland, wolf and other animal sanctuaries, world of birds, shopping, beautiful beaches, etc, etc and the ferry between the island and mailand is quick and adds to the overall fun of this extraordinary Robinson Crusoe type destination. We will be back.

Stanley Island is a lovely place to be. Beautiful accommodation with a great design and a personal touch - you’ll find here fresh herbs in your lodge’s kitchen and will get a flower on Valentine’s Day. The staff are always very professional, friendly and helpful. Thank you, Celestine. 😊

We had a lovely stay on Stanley Island, everything was perfect. Our room was beautifully decorated and very tastefully equipped with lovely extras, such as an airfryer, filter coffee and fresh mint.
It was so peaceful yet easy to get to town with the ferry.
We had a lovely function, lovley table decor and wonderful food.
The staff were all amazing.

We cant fault this stay. The staff were so helpful and friendly, our unit tastefully decorated and bed very comfortable. The kitchen is well kitted out and the only thing I didnt enjoy was the the high table and bar stools for dining which are not very practical/comfortable for seniors.

We were adopted by the resident young cat, Seun, who slept in our bed, curled up on our laps and rewarded us with loud purring and whiskers tickling our cheeks and noses, as he snuggled up at every opportunity the entire weekend that we were there. He even accompanied us on our walks to visit the zebras. It broke our hearts to say good-bye, but we will be back.

When enquiring about one night stay at the Stanley’s Island accommodation, we asked if there is a restaurant. We were told YES. Not informed there was going to be load shedding & restaurant won’t operate. We were directed to the Local Bar on the premises & told they are open for supper. Disgusted with the service & was served raw calamari. On request to see the manager. Was told his not available. We were rushed by the waitress. My family & I will never visit this place again.

Goodness! Where do I start - Stanley Island is one of the best holiday destinations I've been to this year. From the service, the room being a stone throw away from the river bank, all the way to the aesthetics and the service. The place is 10/10 for me. We stayed for a weekend and we were got to experience the sunset boat cruise, had a lovely dinner at the Stowaway restaurant followed by a picnic the following morning. So so lovely. If you are considering visiting them - this is the sign you were looking for. I promise the place will live up to your expectations.

8 very well outfitted cottages all used by our group. Spent a week-end paddling, swimming, fishing. It was a great experience on a beautiful island that is also within reach of all that Plett has to offer via a very nice ferry and managed by very friendly and helpful staff.

The atmosphere is insanely beautiful, in the morning the zebras graze in front of the veranda. The complex has been newly renovated and is in very good condition. The rooms stand out with attention to detail. The staff is very friendly.

The only criticism is that you can still hear the cars in the evening. In addition, the waiting time in the restaurant is quite long - but the food is delicious!

Definitely worth a visit!

We had a 3 night stay on the island and really appreciated the solitude and isolation. Having to nake a short ferry trip to the island added to the unique experience. The accommodation ideation was in a simple rustic style but was very good with the facilities we needed. We chose to self cater completely so didn't use the restaurant. Having zebra join us for meals was wonderful. We would recommend it as a place to stay.

We've only been on Stanley island for a night, and regrets it until now. The island is beautiful, the staff are lovely, the price is fair, and the zebras are all around the place. The experience of being on an island and be take by a ferry back an forth was exciting for us. Recommended!!

What about the distance to the nearby N2 highway? We are a bit afraid of early morning trucks making a lot of noise.

Good day There can be a bit of traffic noise depending on the prevailing winds. However, if possible we can accommodate you in one of the units that is protected by the indigenous forest. Regards Lizel
