Plettenberg is a wonderful place. We felt completely comfortable at La Vista Lodge. The service, breakfast and rooms were all excellent. The area is quiet and safe and offers many great restaurants (our highlights: Nguni and The Lookout Deck).

Lovely views from the top deck, also where breakfast is served, and very friendly staff on arrival and at breakfast, great small pool on the lower deck

Wow we sure don’t get the positive reviews . We were so looking forward to our stay at La Vista . We have traveled for a month and stayed at many places along the wine and garden route and have been impressed with all our stays . At half the price point of La Vista. We were expecting a lot because of the price point . We stayed in room 2 with a cost of R9000 for two nights . Crazy expensive for what you get by South African standards, it doesn’t seem like they hardly have any staff . They even up charged us R500 for R 100 bottle of wine from the honor bar . There is no price sheet . When we arrived in our room there were towels along the patio window because it rained and water was getting in . The bed was comfortable but everything sadly needs an upgrade . Cheaply decorated , even the common areas are sparsely furnished and the sofas are old and tired . There is French press in the room but the coffee was old and undrinkable. They say in their advertising there is a fully stocked mini bar complete with lovely South African snacks, sadly there was none . Breakfast was not impressive other than the view . Service is crazy slow , it takes 20 minutes to get a coffee and no one ever comes back to see if you want another. We have seen South African hospitality in every one of our stays but LaVista really needs to up their game and have a more engaged staff and probably hire more staff . This is definitely not a four star stay , more like a two star . You can definitely do better by booking somewhere else .

Avoid this hotel. They double booked and only informed that morning of stay there was an issue. Offered no apology. Did book me into another hotel in area but when turned up they said the booking was not confirmed and let room go to someone else. Luckily found a room in area. How La Vista can say the room was double booked when they confirmed months previously is unacceptable and should be considered when booking accommodation in the area.

We made a booking a long time in advance and paid a very significant deposit for three rooms over 3 nights at New Year. We were called in November to advise that we could no longer be accommodated, neither were they able to find a similar alternative. We were promised that our deposit would be returned but are still waiting and no communication for over 2 months now, very sad as we have stayed at La Vista before and loved it.

We had a very nice welcome at La Vista Lodge, the lodge is also very well located. We were disappointed by the room. Our room was very large, but it was located in the main buildings basement and did feel a bit moisty. There were tiny bugs too which was due to the moist. I would have preferred a smaller room, up higher in the building than this huge room that didn't feel healthy. The bathroom was also quite dirty (the blinds weren't cleaned in a while).

We visited Plett along the garden route during our honeymoon and stayed at this lovely lodge,
On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly host, who helped us bring our bags in from the car and then showed us round this lovely guest house. He very kindly gave us a welcome drink of our choice.
The room that we were given was extremely spacious with a very large bathroom and large very comfortable bed, all of which was very clean.
We needed to book a restaurant for the night and were given very good recommendation and the host very kindly arranged to book us a table, unfortunately the restaurant was not open that night, but the host went out of his way to find a very good restaurant for us to go to. All of the staff could not do enough for you.
The pool area was also lovely with an amazing view of plett bay.
The breakfast was also lovely with a choices for you to order but also a cold buffet to choose from.
I would recommend this guest house and will visit again if we come back.

Lincoln, the chef, was the pinnacle of excellent service provided by all staff. Breakfast is normally served from 8 but we had an early start so needed breakfast at 6.30. He actually stayed at the lodge overnight so he could prepare breakfast for us at 5.30. We ate at the hotel a couple of nights and would highly recommend it as Lincoln is both a creative and a considerate chef who prepares the dishes to your liking. Room and bathroom spacious, with excellent housekeeping. Very attentive breakfast staff and the breakfast was outstanding. The only reason for not giving the lodge excellent is the location is not near to restaurants, the WiFi signal was weak, parking was very tight, and maybe cos the lodge is on a hill, the tv rarely worked. The mountain view is not great but you get a wonderful panoramic sea view from the meal/bar area. Overall the major positives greatly outweigh the niggly negatives

We have addressed the Wifi signal which is weak across South Africa unfortunately due to several underwater cables. Adé & his team were so accommodating when we looked for an affordable; yet luxurious place to stay in Plett over the December holidays. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite with the best views of the Plettenberg Bay area imaginable. The staff
are all so kind & accommodating- Amos went out of his way to make pur stay as comfortable as possible. R&R to the max! The breakfasts are 5 star as well! Excellent quality & selection. Cant wait to visit La Vista Lodge again!
