Detailed Reviews
The rooms were clean and the bathrooms ok. The kitchen however needs a good scrubdown. It was comfortable, interesting and should be awesome for a twenty first rave party in the dungeon. Definitely not for distinguished travellers but ok for real low budget sleepovers. Much unrealised potential.

I had the opportunity of staying at smokey moon for a few months and it was a great experience! The management is very friendly and helpful and the backpackers is located on one of the most beautiful properties in Grahamstown. The place is well equipped and I found that it is very affordable considering the atmosphere it provides. Felt completely rejuvenated after my stay here! Will definitely be back!

I would never go there again. The owner definitely using drugs of some kind, medical or not but unacceptable. There was nothing to do and it was used to house government employees to do a job. Please don't stay there. This place is really for the poor backpackers

We couldn't bring ourselves to stay here. This place could be really nice if the manager did his job. Kitchen was filthy and bathrooms are terrible. I have stayed in awesome backpackers around KZN, so I was really shocked at what this backpackers is offering.

Avoid this place! The bathrooms were disgustingly dirty. The toilet could not have been cleaned for a long time. We slept on top of the bedding. The upkeep is very poor. If we had not arrived so late, we would have tried to find another place to stay. Although it is priced at backpacker rates, it is not even value for money.
