137 High Street Guest House is situated in Grahamstown, and forms part of the popular Frontier Country route. 137 High Street has been totally renovated and comes to you as 137 High Street Guest House. This historic guest house, with its solid yellow wood floors and ceilings has just recently been completely renovated to a modern comfortable establishment without losing its old world charm. Each of our bedrooms has a king-size bed which can be converted into two twin beds, if required. In addition, two rooms can accommodate one extra single bed, making it ideal for parents visiting their children. Rooms are serviced daily. Each room has a flat screen TV with DSTV, tea/coffee making station, wall heaters and ceiling fans for making your stay comfortable. You don’t have to be a student to appreciate all the things to do in Grahamstown. While this small town is most well known for Rhodes University and the National Arts Festival, it holds many more hidden and eclectic activities.

Detailed Reviews
Check in was hassle free - amendments to booking were done without any hassle or penalty. The room was very clean and I did have a good nights rest - I was extremely tired. Wifi connection was very good. Access was also very good as I could let myself in and out at will. The only issue that I had was that the area was very hot and the room for sometime before dark was very hot and there was no fan or aircon in the room. I will definately go back and stay there when I am back in Grahamstowm.

I had an enjoyable stay. I could not have stayed any closer to the venue for my workshops. It was great to walk to where I had to be on the Rhodes campus and not battle with parking. The guest house is very close to the Arch/Drostdy entrance.
I stayed in a self-catering unit. There is a full kitchen (stove with oven, microwave, kettle, fridge with freezer compartment, utensils, crockery, etc.). The bed was warm and comfortable with a good (hot) shower. There is safe parking behind a security gate and good Wi-fi.
Although it did not impact my sleep and work I was aware of noise in the evenings (music and chatter) from nearby venues until fairly late at night. This may bother other travellers, so something to be aware of.
Although all the kitchen utensils were useable these need review/replacement/upgrading. It would be much more homely if the crockery "sets" were similar, pans did not have burn stains, etc.

I'd stay there again. The place was spotless and had helpful staff and secure off-street parking in a central location, close to restaurants.
One point of concern was the floor in the shower. Mine was very steep at the sides with an ill-positioned drain in the middle deep enough to be like a hole and this made slipping a very real risk. Easy enough to remedy, though. I hope they do.

I stayed for 3 nights. My room (no.1) was comfortable, had block out curtains as the window faces onto the parking lot. My gripes are that the room is close to the creaky stairs. Was woken up at 3am by someone walking up the stairs. Also, perhaps I missed it, but the wifi password was not displayed in the room. Otherwise, surprisingly quiet given its location very close to entertainment venues. Friendly and helpful service.

Great place to explore this part of the city. It is also very easy to connect this area with the city center. Plenty of restaurants and food places around. Safe place and ideal set up for staying for a few days.

Was in town for the festival. Great location meant I could walk everywhere. Comfortable room, tasty warm breakfast to order, and very secure parking were the highlights of the property along with a friendly and helpful staff. I'd stay again. Only thing I change would be to book a room with a shower, not a tub.

We came, we settled, we fested, we slept, fested some more, repeat, repeat. 137 High street was our home base and always so nice to come back to! Still hearing the buzz as we dropped off to sleep - the guesthouse is super-central! Lovely history, well-appointed, friendly caring staff who went out of their way to care for our needs (and wants). We'll be back!

Overall good. For the price we [aid, one would expect better coffee in rooms and lounge. Pity that the bar was limited to the few drinks in the lounge / dining room fridge. After a long travel one would like a nice cold drink
