Our cottages are located within the 9000ha Fort Governor's Estate just outside Grahamstown. With fantastic views out to the reserve from the privacy of your own deck, you can enjoy a romantic retreat or a relaxed getaway with a group of friends. So sit back, cool off in the pool, dig your toes into the sea sand of our boma, pour a drink and relax around a roaring fire.
A great escape for the weekend. The cottages have everything you need and the setting is beautiful. I enjoyed the sounds of frogs, crickets, birds alongside the clear starry night. We had a lovely swim in the pool and a braai in the evening.

Location 200% Host 200% I loved my stay here. So peaceful! The only downside was the wifi. Since there is little to none cellphone signal when you reach the villas one can only reply on wifi. Unfortunately the wifi was not working due to some cables that were stolen around the area. This is not the properties fault. I will definitely be booking there again! The fireplace in the room is AMAZING!!!

Beautiful hidden place, my partner and I enjoyed our stay. It was refreshing to be away from the business of our Jo’burg lives, this place gave us such a busy of mind. A place to visit when you want to get in touch with nature. The house is also so spacious and clean.

A remarkable game reserve/estate, it is vast and the scenery is spectacular. I was the only guest, no problem for Jo and Sean they arranged a vehicle for me, this was special as I could go wherever I wanted. A very memorable visit. The Stoneyvale lodge is well worth the visit, the cottage accommodation is exactly like the website, perfect, and superior to many upmarket lodges I have visited. The cottages have everything one needs including healthy supply of fire wood. Jo and Sean are brilliant hosts. I really look forward to visiting the estate again, one of those that you do go back to.

We had the opportunity to stay at Stonevale for two nights as a family. What a much needed break is was, away from the city life. Very relaxed and quiet atmosphere in the bush. The cottage have everything that you need and is very modern. Thanks Jo for accomodating me and my family. Will see you again in future. Francois

This place is absolutely amazing. My partner and I spent our valentines weekend here and FGE went out of there way to make us feel special! A bottle of bubbly and beautiful flowers! The game drive was absolutely amazing as well. We would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be back.

What an amazing bush break, it was just what we needed! Thank you to Jo and Sean - you made us feel so comfortable. The accommodation was perfect, along with a game drive with Sean. His knowledge of the bush and animals is outstanding. We both have never experienced something quite like it. We have learnt so much. Our stay was nothing short of perfect Thank you again! We will definitely be back.

Fort Governors is an absolute breakaway. We had the most wonderful quiet weekend in the bush and feel completely relaxed even though it was only two nights. Jo and Sean are wonderful hosts and have created a very warm and welcoming space where even the game feel free to show up for your morning coffee on the deck. We would highly recommend the game drive and the bush walk. There is so much to see on the farm! We will most definitely be back for more. Thank you!
