Assistance with luggage a great help, but extremely slippery entrance steps in rain made my son & myself slip off steps - grave danger. Rooms were not prepared/cleaned & ready for entry after 2pm (closer to 4pm) in the afternoon. A pity after being on the road & planning to arrive on time for booking-in on specified times.

Location was good with a nice promenade for walking. The room was not exactly clean as you would expect. Attention to details not very good. Nothing much to do in the hotel, no pool. Breakfast was good. A car was in the car park one evening, after 11.00pm, with a very loud exhaust making all sorts of reving up noises. We rang te receiption as Im sure many guests did only to be told security would deal with it. It went on for an hour. Should have been dealt with earlier and quicker

I've been staying in this hotel for business purposes for many years. The employees are very friendly and helpful, the food is good and the rooms are comfortable. The last time I stayed there, I got a beautiful suite. The view of the ocean is always welcome.

Very unimpressed. Photos do not match at all. No wifi for the duration of our stay. Safe didn’t work and took 24 hours to fix. No tables and chairs as pictured, bar not open inside. Paint peeling off the walls and roof. View is amazing on the beachside and has good water pressure in the shower. Would not recommend.

We were booked into this hotel for business. Sadly the hotel is old and in bad need of refurbishment - carpets need cleaning and some of my colleagues stated that they were sure the rooms were not cleaned at all. Bathrooms had a musty smell !!
Not worth the price we paid for these rooms and we expected better.
Staff were OK but could not really do much if the overall appearance of the hotel is not appealing
Breakfast was OK - not exceptional but standard fare !
Would suggest management seriously consider revamping or improving the hotel drastically.
Would not recommend to anyone !!!!

Worst experience ever!. We dined at the resturant on the 14th of November. the service was shocking, but wait!. The meals we ordered arrived slap dash and uncooked, blood visible on the one , the other laden with fat. it looked gross!.the accompanying salad missing, incorrect rice, bread burnt!. We asked to see the manager, waited and waited to no avail. My Partner went into the kitchen to see if the chef could fix the meal. the manager was in the kitchen,he screamed/shouted and i had thought was going to get physically violent with us. He said if we did not like the food, not to eat it, infact it would suit him just fine if we left the hotel too! we went to lay a formal complaint at the front desk , only to find out he is the manager on duty. again he asked us to leave his hotel. We had no choice but to check out, by now it was 23H30. will never stay at this hotel again, see pics of the meal.

Work group stayed here whilst travelling between East London and PE
got there late in the evening as we had been travelling from cape town and also working in EL that day

check in smooth.
rooms though on the other hand like others had mentioned...very dark, dingy and dated
i felt scared to sit on the couch in case i caught something and when i watsapp video called the family my wife was horrified with the room

funny set up with separate lunge area with TV and separate bedroom
strange thing unlike other hotels there was no TV in the bedroom
what does one do when they want to watch some TV before retiring for the night???

we also popped down to the bar to get some drinks that evening and the bar area and seating reminded me of a fish and chip shop setting like we have back home in the UK
and to top it it smelled terribly of food ..overwhelming even.
not great

next morning at breakfast you had to be in early as the hotel is bolted onto conference venue and there was at least 3 conference/meetings happening that day and so even though previous evening it seemed like a quiet hotel ..at breakfast it was swarming..
not ideal for peace and relaxation

use this hotel if you need it for work or business and one nught at most !!

A well located hotel by the sea. Insist on getting a sea facing room, otherwise you have a courtyard or back view which is a pity. Avoid this hotel if there are big conferences as it is situated at the International Convention Centre. Rooms are spacious, though a bit traditional & staff is friendly.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights while on a conference. The longest three nights of my life. Firstly, the hotel is undergoing renovations. So don't bother sleeping past 7am because it is LOUD. Drilling, bashing, nailing, shouting - you name it. Don't bother taking an afternoon nap either.
Secondly, If your room is not sea-facing, you have NO view. My hotel room did not even have windows I could open to get fresh air.
Thirdly, I had NO hot water AT ALL - no one on my side of the building on both floors, had any hot water. When I reported this, we were told that the water would get mildly warm if you let the tap run for 10-20 minutes (which is NOT helping with the current water shortage in SA).
And finally, Two friends staying in separate rooms in the hotel had strangers walk into their rooms while sleeping, because the rooms were either double-booked or they were given the wrong access cards. (Upon complaining, they were upgraded to a suite which was filthy upon arrival). This is not suprising. I lost my access card, and I was given a new one even though no one checked my ID or that I even belonged in the hotel. They just asked my room number!

While I understand that the hotel is undergoing renovation, it;s unacceptable to make rooms available that have NO hot water (or windows for that matter...). Also, it is a major safety hazard to nonchalantly give someone access to a room without checking ID.

The only reason why I give the hotel a 1/5 is because the food served for breakfast, lunch and supper each day was really, really good and I could not fault it. Everything was delicious and I have never eaten that much at any buffet before. Most of the staff are also friendly.

Definitely do not recommend until the renovations are complete and there is hot water.

Response from Premier H, General Manager at Premier Hotel Regent
Responded 19 Aug 2016
Dear Angelique C Firstly I would like to sincerely apologise for the Noise and absence of hot water due to the renovations. We as a hotel have endeavoured to identify the areas of concern as to deliver our promise of quality customer service, however due to a centralised hot water system this has proven to be a mammoth task. The health and safety of our guests is our first and foremost priority and concern, therefore I would again like to offer my apologies for the incidents described by yourself including that of the unclean rooms. Reading these concerns, was to say the least alarming and corrective measures in the form of extensive training and reaffirmation of the Company Policies and Procedures in relation to these matters has been conducted and recorded. On a positive note, I would like to thank you for your comments relating to the meals and will be sure to forward commendation to our Chef and his team. Please once again accept my apologies for the negative aspects of your stay at our establishment and I do sincerely hope that you will consider revisiting our hotel upon completion of our upgrade. Please feel free to contact myself on francois.v@premierhotels.co.za or 043 709 5010 and I will personally see to your booking. Regards, Francois van Zyl

The beach is across the street (4 lanes) from the hotel so about 1 minute away. It appeared to be a safe beach during the day.
