The staff are friendly and very helpful. The their rooms are beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Chef Craig prepares the most stunning curries and steaks. Looking forward to trying his other dishes soon. Loved my stay and will most certainly be back. Thank you to the Lord Selborne team #chefcraig

I was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful architecture and wonderful atmosphere however the food is really what I would like to review. A long overdue dinner date with my ladies who have returned from Dubai and Thailand, we searched for a place none of us had visited before. Lord Selborne happened to be our unanimous decision. Reservations made and off we went! We had a beautiful evening which exceeded all our expectations. The food was beyond good, best steak I have ever had, complemented with fresh crisp greens. Everything was presented really well and complimented with a fresh salad or crispy vegetables, the plate was colorful and beautifully presented. The ladies were most impressed and honestly so was I! I finally found a restaurant where the quality of food was not compromised like most establishments these days. Our vegetarian friend was so pleased and happy with her meal which is delightful as she is usually the one most disappointed when eating out. We waited a good few minutes as everything was freshly prepared however what we received left us all happier than ever. We vowed to visit the establishment as often as we can and would sincere like to thank the staff, especially the Chef who took the time to create our gourmet meals. The food was nothing less than spectacular; this establishment should definitely be advertised more. Please keep it us!!!

1. Was given conflicting information by the night staff upon checking in versus the day staff.

2. Requested assistance having a dress hung on the washing line to dry, it was instead placed in an industrial tumble dryer and when I was informed and subsequently flagged that the dress was damaged, I was offered a cold apology. Almost had no outfit to wear to the wedding I came to East London for in the first place.

3. Booking was made on my behalf and there was seemingly confusion about check-out dates. I was woken up in the morning and rudely notified that whoever had made the booking needed to come back and pay extra or I needed to leave. Had to book elsewhere for my remaining day in East London.

4. Was injured by the bed on my first night as it had bed springs jutting out of the mattress and I had pretty severe scratches which were rehashed every time I climbed out of the bed. Reported it and was made to feel like a diva and begrudgingly moved to another room.

I’d never set foot at this place again. Honestly just driving past and seeing it with my eyes gives me nasty flashbacks.

Worst travel experience ever. In the world.

It is always comforting to know that after a long and tiring day...you can retreat to a guest home that offers excellent service with its warm and hospitable staff who go the extra mile to ensure that you're always left smiling. If you enjoy great music and even better food, you can step into the dining hall where master chef Craig is sure to take you on a culinary journey (especially with his famous chicken & prawn curry).

Thank you Thelma and staff for making my stay a pleasant one.

This is a very well run B&B&D. The staff are very service orientated and accommodating to a travellers needs. The rooms are modern, quiet, clean and comfortable. Better than most hotels for the price. A nice entertainment area around the bar, pool and dining room.

It is well worth having dinner there as the food is excellent. When I need to stay in East London, this the place.

I was booked into Lord Selborne for 2weeks conducting training. I loved every second of my time there. The accommodation is beautiful and spacious. Tastefully decorated. The conference venue well equipped. The team at front desk are stellar. Tanya and Thelma were eager to assist and accommodate all my needs. I will be back for Business or leisure.

I visit this Guesthouse every two to three months. Beautiful old house with lots of charm and beautiful rooms. The outside addition also offers a few beautiful cean and comfortable rooms, all with aircon, television, very comfortable beds. Well stocked bar and snacks in the lounge. Friendly service. I will recommend it to any traveller.
