Very well organised resort. Clean sites, bathrooms, and braai areas at each site. Very friendly and helpful staff. The owners always checking up to make sure everything is up to standard. I would recommend this facility any time.

Perfect setting. Resort well maintained. Management & staff keep resort and ablutions spotless at all times. Restaurant food yummy but would be an added bonus if it was open for longer hours and extended days into January for patrons who stay longer. Enjoyed my visits to the Spa - Also clean, tranquil and boy oh boy I haven't had a massage like that in years. Highly recommend resort.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Areena, this was our second visit and we will most certainly be back for many more. The weekend was so relaxing and the accommodation is fully equipped with everything you may need. Areena has become our favourite resort.

Activities only operate with a minimum of 6 people - we were 4 and couldnt do many of the activities.
Woken up at 4am by squirrels in the roof.
Activities are highly priced.
No covid regulations in place when we did the safari ride to meet the giraffe.
No animals to touch at the TOUCH farm.
Accommodation is highly priced for out of season rates and you still have to pay to get the unit cleaned.
Not worth your while if you are less than 6 people. We had book activities out of the resort as resort wouldn't take less than 6 people for zipline, river cruise, etc
Timber chalets are beautifully positioned by the river though and very comfy.

Over all our stay was great and we enjoyed the venue and accommodation. I would suggest Management take a more active role in ensuring the units are cleaned and serviced daily. During our stay the braai area and dustbins were not once cleaned and emptied out. The unit was not sweep on the 2nd day and floor dirty. On the Saturday we left the towels on the floor to be changes and most were replaced but one had a sour and miffy smell and could not be used. This is unfortunate as it has removed some of the wow factor from the peace and tranquil setting and was not expected from a 4 Star establishment. If the units were cleaned and serviced properly my rating would be 5 star as the tranquil setting and views are absolutely stunning

We recently stayed at Areena and our stay was comfortable, the chalet was very neat and clean. The braai and path ways can do with better lightning.
The resort itself I will rate average and think its overrated. It has a lot of potential!!!
The restaurant honestly didn't impress us at all, we felt the manager was very unfriendly and the area self around the restaurant was dirty and full of bird poo. Nothing a wet cloth and water cannot fix on a daily basis and just a bit of sweeping will also make it look better. The inside game area was terrible. This is such an important area for the resort, just saying. We were a bit sad about the restaurant area because we planned to eat breakfast at the restaurant daily and unfortunately didn't go as planned.
The reception staff was friendly and helpful.
The staff at the adventure center was also helpful and friendly, even though we didn't really book any activities except for the giraffe experience which was nice.
The camp sites all looks nice and spacious. I would personally not mix the the normal camping with the park homes etc. Just makes things look untidy. Personal choice.
A recommendation or tip - perhaps offer your guest a boat trip to the beach in the mornings or certain times with pick up times again, this will be very helpful if this option is possible to join the beach by Yellow sand caravan park.
We were a bit disappointed that we could not do the river cruise either, apparently they need 20 pax to fill the boat.
Unfortunately there isn't much else to do in the area.

People with dogs dont pick up their dog poo, our stand was small and we had to squash in our camping stuff to at least camp with some sort of comfort. Bathrooms was kept clean whole time. Men and women share a bathroom which we were not told about and only found out by ourselves later that there is a separate bathroom for women and men only. Beautiful view though.

We booked in for the week end in one of the riverside timber chalet`s. It is in a perfect setting, the chalet is very clean and well equipped. The people at reception were very friendly and helpful to ensure that you could enjoy the full Areena experience. Then we went to meet Abby the Giraffe.... well I must say that it was a very special experience to get this type of attention from such a beautiful giant

We have visited Areena Resort 5 times in our caravan. Each time has been an amazing experience of a simply outstandingly beautiful place. Early morning reflections off the water are amazing making for some special photography. Bird life is excellent another good reason for bring your cameras as are the many photos you can get of the wildlife in the area. At trip up the river to the river mouth is a must for any quest as is a meal or 6 at the restaurant which provides great food and excellent service. For the campers there is a nice SPAR 10 minutes away for your supplies when needed. I would and actually do recommend a stay here for any nature lover.

Loved being there so so much. Oh wow, where does one even start ?
Loved the swimming with the kids, jumping on the trampoline and having a barbecue, and making a fire that night.
Loved being in nature, and the tortoise was such a celebrity, kids couldn’t stop fussing over him / her, playing with him.
So many highlights, but up at the top, is our canoeing experience, paddling to the ocean, and having a swim at the ocean.
We are very excited to come back for the winter holidays, and spend way more time.
Looking forward to checking out Kwelerha National botanical garden, the East London Coast Nature reserve, and doing some gravel / mountain biking
Was disappointed that restaurant was closed, but we heard it was because of covid.
Just one thing, please fix that hot water tap by the kitchen sink, it didn’t want to close- almost caused a mini flood.
Honestly, thinking of having one of those permanent homes there, river facing
