My wife was fortunate enough to locate this place when planning our Alaska trip. All I can say is that the place is fantastic. The location, the view and the owner (Tim) and his fiancée Pique are special people as well. I cant say enough about how Tim will go out of his way to ensure a great stay.
We stayed in the detached Cabin which was located next to the Lodge where the other bedrooms are located. The Cabin was very well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The bedroom was up in the loft. Downstairs housed the kitchen area, a futon and a small table. It had a nice porch overlooking Denali. Just a word of caution - Denali is typically not clearly viewable as she is covered in clouds. As in all the various B&B’s with cabins, none of them were air conditioned - this can be challenging to sleep when the temp hits 80’s which it did while we were there. Luckily the futon was reasonably comfortable to sleep in as upstairs was too hot. Tips: there are 37 stairs to reach this cabin and then a rather narrow loft ladder to reach the bedroom upstairs - if any mobility issues best to stay in the lodge.…
We found the Denali Overlook Inn to be exactly as other reviews had stated and more! We were fortunate to have Tim, the incredibly friendly owner, meet us at the train station and conduct a quick tour of Talkeetna before arriving at the inn, which is charming, clean, and comfortable. The breathtaking setting offers unbelievable views of the Denali and wildlife is abundant all around the premises. The breakfast was outstanding and all the staff very hospitable. Our only regret was only spending two nights there. Talkeetna has so much to offer, we could have easily spent several more days! When we return, we will definitely stay here again!
This experience is amazing on every level! There were: homemade muffins and cookies on arrival, breathtaking views, amazing rooms, beautiful places to sit long into the night both inside and outside, outstanding breakfast. There was attention to detail everywhere. We would love to come back to see the auroras from this location! We would love to stay here again!
We spent one lovely night at this Inn after a week exploring rural Alaska. Our innkeeper immediately made us feel welcome, settling us into a more comfortable room than the one we'd originally chosen since it was by luck available (NO availability at all for the rest of the weekend!). We enjoyed full views of Mt. McKinley as well as clouds covering the mountain face and it was all magical. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our conversations with other guests. Maleia also helped us find delicious places to eat and visit in Talkeetna. We hope to be back this winter, even though it's a bit of a trip from the East Coast!
