Words cannot do the Farm Lodge justice. Everything was outstanding. Yes this is an expensive location to travel to. However, I do not think that the cost is unreasonable given the remote location and level of personalized service we received.

We did a customized tour 3 days, 2 nights. Departed Anchorage early in the morning on a Lake Clark Air flight that landed on the runway right outside of the lodge. We had access to our bags and then they were stored until our rooms were ready. A bagged lunch was waiting for us. We spent our first day seeing the outdoor exhibits at the Lake Clark National Park visitors center (closed secondary to Covid), hiking the falls and beaver pond trails, and enjoying the scenery.

Day #2 was spent flightseeing through mountain passes then landing on a black sand beach for brown bear viewing at Cook Inlet. Observing the bears digging for clams was awesome. We enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach and a walk through the salt marsh with several additional bear sightings before returning to the lodge.

Day #3 -We checked out of our rooms and stored our luggage prior to tundra flightseeing with a landing on the tundra for lunch. Wildlife sightings included bears, moose and caribou. After returning to the lodge we departed on a float plane for our 3 night stay at Brooks Lodge in Katmai National Park. Note - They also do day trips to Katmai from the Farm Lodge.

Our pilots were also our guides on these daily activities. Their knowledge and professionalism exceeded my expectations.

Despite this lodge's remote location, communication prior to our trip was always prompt. The rooms were very clean and had awesome views. All staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful.

Breakfast was ordered the evening before with several options to choose from. Sack lunches were provided each day - again multiple options from which to choose. Dinner was more food than anyone in my party could eat.

I hope to return someday. The Farm Lodge had many more activities than we had time for. You could easily spend a week here.

Just book it. If you're like me, you want to go to Lake Clark & Katmai National Parks, found out about the Farm, and perhaps hesitated when you saw the price. BOOK IT! It's totally worth it!!!

We did the 6 night / 7 day National Parks package which included 2 days via seaplane in Lake Clark, 2 days via seaplane in Katmai, and 1 free day for hiking locally in Lake Clark. The free day is good because you have a backup day if inclement weather cancels a trip. I counted 12 total water takeoffs & landings from all the flightseeing we did!

The food is outstanding, with a rotating breakfast lineup, a good variety of rotating options for your packed lunches, and spectacular dinners. You will probably gain weight on this trip. They cater to all dietary restrictions and the vegetarian food looked pretty good, so don't worry about that if you are not a meat eater.

There are two room types, we chose the smaller room. The loft rooms appeared larger, and I briefly regretted not springing for it, but I noticed they had large loft windows that probably let in a lot of light at night. The view from our room was spectacular, day and night, even in the rain. All rooms face the bay, there is no "bad" view.

Also, they'll do your laundry for you! If you ask for a basket they do your laundry while you're out on tours, which is awesome, as it helped us pack less for Alaska.

There is no cell service and wifi is only in the main building with the dining room, and spotty at best. Even sending a picture of the Katmai bears to a friend takes some time. So just plan on no internet - just relax and enjoy the view!

Lastly, note that there is no alcohol served on premises, if you care about that sort of thing. There are mini fridges in your room though, and you can get ice from the dining room, so if you pack anything with you, you're good to go.

When you consider all the food, all the seaplane tours, the flight to/from Anchorage, laundry service, and the lodging itself, you'll realize that the cost is worth it. Expensive, yes, but you absolutely get what you pay for!

We originally booked this for July 2020 and due to the pandemic, rescheduled for this year. I can't say enough good about the experience we had while at the lodge! The staff was friendly and seemed happy in their jobs, the guides and pilots were outstanding and the food generous & delicious!!! Our accommodations were excellent--comfy beds, great shower, clean & spacious cabins, bedroom without window for ease of sleeping without a setting sun but with a ceiling fan to provide a breeze. Just interesting how they are able to pull off such a wonderful stay in this remote place. We booked the trip over to Katmai to see the grizzlies at the falls, a guided trip to Twin Lakes and and a guide for our hike to Tanalian Falls, Kontrashibuna Lake, and the Beaver Pond. Thanks to Asa, Jim, & Glen for the flights and to Kyle, Jared and Asa for your guiding for our adventures. We had a trip of a lifetime to Alaska and this was the end of our two weeks and we will have great memories of our time in Port Alsworth! Also had great communication via email with all my questions.

The flight to Port Alsworth alone is a treat if the weather is nice. Great scenery and lots of glaciers along the way.
Once you arrive at the airstrip your luggage is taken care of and you're taken to the lodge. The rooms were quite big and very clean. The food (breakfast/lunch/dinner) was excellent, and considering the fact that you're almost in the middle of nowhere makes it even more special. All staff members have been extremely friendly.
This place is definitely in my Top3 of the best places I've been to and I'll surely plan to come back.
I can strongly recommend staying at the Farm Lodge!

You may think that a rustic lodge in the remote wilderness might be the kind of place to suppress your expectations in terms of quality, cleanliness, and service, but you would be completely wrong. Everything about the Farm Lodge is top-notch, and it has the friendliest staff of people at any hotel I have ever stayed at. If you are planning a visit to Lake Clark National Park and want to have the best possible experience, do yourself a favor and book a room here.

We stayed at the Farm Lodge for two nights to see Lake Clark National Park. Our experience here far exceeded our expectations. The flight to and from was beautiful. The food was very good and were given in large portions. They were very accommodating with dietary restrictions. You could pick your breakfast and lunch each morning from a list that changed daily. It can be expensive to visit but we felt we got our money's worth staying here and didn't feel like we were nickeled and dimed for every choice we made. Our room was well kept. You are in close proximity to hiking trails and there are many other options they can help you with to get to parts of the park you want to visit or activities you are interested in. We felt the lodge was very well run, organized and they have clearly been doing this for a long time. We can't wait to come back and visit again someday!

After first seeing the PBS special "Alone in the Wilderness" about the life of Dick Proenneke at Twin Lakes twenty-some years ago, I finally made the pilgrimage to Dick's cabin with my two sons last summer. I had been wanting to make the trip ever since finally moving to Alaska in 2015, and who better to make it with than the same Alsworth family that brought Dick back in 1967? Glen Alsworth, Babe's grandson, now runs the business, and he does so with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail. From the guest cabins to the flight staff, The Farm Lodge does it right. My sons and I were taken good care of the moment we checked in at Merrill Field, and all through the five-day journey. We had a great time! I heartily recommend The Farm as one of your stops on an Alaskan vacation, or as your transportation to Twin Lakes. Well worth your time and money.

I highly recommend the Farm Lodge! They coordinated everything with Lake Clark Air for my day trip from Anchorage. The flight over was awesome- make sure you have a camera with you! When I arrived, a staff member greeted me and explained logistics. They had prepared a very generous sack lunch for me (sandwich, water, juice, trail mix, chips, cookie, candy bar). There is an espresso shop with homemade goodies as well as essentials like bug spray. Staff was fantastic and even found me a phone charger to borrow after my phone died. I will be back!

The Farm Lodge was a beautiful restful week for hubby and I. Cabin was clean and modern! The chef prepared exceptional breakfasts and dinners and very tasty lunches to go. The food was truly gourmet and I marveled at how they could have a 5 star dinner in such a remote area! One thing you do not want to skip are their homemade cinnamon rolls! Never had any better anywhere! We rented a canoe and paddled around Lake Clark and flew over to Twin Lakes to see Dick Proenneckes cabin with a professional pilot and guide. Gorgeous scenery. I took hundreds of pictures. One of their staff even drove us over to the hiking trails for a short hike and picked us up as i have mobility issues. It was a much needed relaxing adventure at our own pace. Thank you to Glen, Kyle and all the other friendly and helpful staff! This resort should be on everyone's bucket list!

Traveling during covid-19 we knew it would be tricky. I kept in contact with the staff at Farm Lodge before our visit. The flight from Anchorage, the weather was beautiful with Denali (Mt. McKinley), Mt. Foraker, & Mt. Hunter in the Alaska Range and the volcanic peaks of Mt. Spurr, Mt Redoubt, & Mt. Iliamna in the Aluetian Range were are visible on our flight into Port Alsworth.
Once we landed the staff took our bags to our lodge room. Everyone was friendly & professional. They even had the store open even though there were very few guest in the area during our visit. Our cabin was overlooking Hardenberg Bay. Right in the heart of Lake Clark national park, there were many hiking options. We hiked to Tanalian Falls. The few residents of the town were helpful as well. Great food in the dining area. Dinner was socially distant & the food was outstanding!!!! I'm not sure if my words can do this amazing place justice! One of my best vacations ever!!!!
Whenever staying inside of a national park, you are paying for the whole experience, nature, scenery, & potential wildlife. The day we were leaving we were delayed by a few hours due to weather. We got to stay in our cabin until a staff member notified us our plane was arriving. The cabin was clean, our only regret we should have stayed longer. Keep that in mind Alaska weather can be fickle even during the summer. No complaints without hesitation we will return to stay at the Farm Lodge!
