This is an exceptional place to stay if you are interested in the wildlife of Cahuita National Park. The property adjoins the park (the "garden" smoothly flows into the park), so many park animals come over regularly, and you get to observe them right from your own veranda. There is a troop of extremely playful capuchin monkeys that come almost daily, a tree full of huge iguanas, as well as agoutis, sloths, an opossum, etc. The property is also very nice - the rooms are spacious and well-designed, very clean, there is a nice veranda with hammocks, and the main strip of Cahuita is within walking distance. Finally, the owner - Erica is a treasure of local knowledge when it comes to local guides, restaurants and other attractions. Truly a unique experience. Do be prepared for some noise - monkeys like to jump on the roof and may wake you up around 5:30, howling monkeys stayed in the park but are very noisy, etc. A plus if you are looking for an authentic wildlife experience, a minus if you'd like a quiet night rest.

Erika was the best. Very helpful with tips and advise. We loved waking up every morning to the baby Monkeys playing on the roof. Wildlife was everywhere and such a joy to watch. Room was great with the sound of animals and waves crashing. Bathrooms are abit unique in that you have a common open area ceiling so privacy was a little weird. We could yell over at our friends while they were showering next door. Only complaint would be the beds are awful. No way to get comfortable. I would have happily paid more for a comfy bed. Cahuita was one of our favorite places during our 3 weeks in CR. We will be back to Kelly Creek (after inquiring about the beds) ;-)

Kelly Creek is right next to the entrance to the National Park, at the end of the Main Street of Cahuita. It is behind a fence and tropical plants so it is quite secluded from the hustle and bustle. There are four rooms in one building and a suite in another. We looked at both options and chose Room #3, which looks out through the trees to the ocean. The adjacent room also looks out on the ocean but the two rooms behind do not. Ask for one of the ocean view rooms if you can. The suite does not have as nice of an ocean view. As the title says, Kelly Creek no longer includes a breakfast. That said, you are within a short walking distance of everything and can go for coffee just down the street as early as 6:30am, The owner Erica is European and is very pleasant. She will give you restaurant recommendations, including Las Olas and Le Jardin. There was a troop of white-faced monkeys that seemed to show up at the hotel every day at 4pm to play in the trees and on the roof. We also saw a sloth and a family of agoutis on the property, The walk through Cahuita NP is fabulous. Highlights were the beach at Punta Vargas and the mile-long boardwalk through the primary forest at the end of the 5 mile hike. You can take a bus from there back to town (hourly?) or a waiting “taxi” for 4000 colonnes. Suggest bringing your own soap/shampoo and bug spray.

Kelly Creek is a great place to stay in Cahuita. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The location cannot be beat, it is right at the entrance of the park and the beach. It is close to restaurants, the market, and the bus stop. Most importantly, Erica is fantastic! She was so helpful and so kind during our stay. We would stay here again the next time we are in the area! Side note - do not book a snorkeling tour with the company that sits right outside of the hotel, they do not take you to the coral reef and they charge people different prices for the same trip!

Mold, mold, mold, mold, mold, mold. The smell was so strong it was difficult to sleep. Even the picture of the monkey on the wall had mold. Also you kind of share the bathroom with the other rooms. Location is the best.
