Pros: The main pool is awesome. You can swim right up to the edge overlooking the ocean. There are additional pools for kiddos. Booking excursion is easy and there are people to help right on site. The rooms were large and worked will for us. We rented a 2 bedroom. The master bed was upstairs and was spacious. The AC worked great. The second bedroom was downstairs with the kitchen area. The private beach access was also great and we took a snorkeling excursion right off the beach. They have shuttles that run about every 5 minutes or so to get you around the resort. It is on a hill and can be difficult to walk around. Cons: The rooms were not very clean. There was a large lipstick smudge on the wall the entire week we were there. There was never enough hot water to bathe. There was no common place to hang out other than the kitchen table. There was no "living room". We ran out of toilet paper during our stay and it was difficult to get more. The front desk was not very responsive. We eventually tracked down a cleaning person who was able to get us some. Overall we enjoyed our time. I would definitely recommend a rental car if staying there. The price was great for what you get. The pool was the best part for us. Probably wouldn't stay there again if traveling to Costa Rica. …
This is NOT a 4 star hotel. I give it a 2 at most. Rooms are outdated and bathrooms seems like they are falling apart. Towels are gray because they are old and dirty. The bedsheets smelt funky. There was no hot water in 213 so they inconveniently moved us to another room - 504 which had a horrible view of a dirty and old roof. This was inconvenient to move rooms as we were only there one night.. and no one offered a discount or any incentive. Sat down for dinner and it wasn’t crowded and no one came for at least 20 min. After 30 min we finally got a drink - unacceptable. Will not recommend or ever come back.
I agree that the rooms need updating. In addition there is much deferred maintenance but we didn't come for the room. We came for Costa Rica. It is in a beautiful spot with howler monkeys and iguanas. The beach is lovely and our grandchildren loved the pool and beach.
My girlfriend and I decided to have a quick weekend getaway with the kids, in a matter of minutes we found what seemed a bargain and went for it. An apparent 4 star hotel (more like a 2 or 1 star place), at our arrival we found dirt on the toilet, yes dirt! we called front desk, and they said... someone will be there shortly. Nobody showed up, we ended up cleaning the bathroom ourselves. We had a superior room, the only superior thing about it was the awful smell on the bathroom and the room in general, I don't even know how to describe the smell. One of the kids was without shoes for 5 minutes and we had to send him to take a bath, saying the floor was dirty is nice. The next morning one of the kids felt sick, we called front desk again... no doctor on site, closest doctor was 20 min away; The question is, what happens if someone is having a real emergency? people just die there? or try to make it to the 20 min away medical facility? Before leaving to find a medic we went for breakfast, The four of us regret that decision, extremely poor food quality, even poor service. At check out they not even ask about our stay, just took the keys, the unused towel cards and said... that's it, thank you. In our run with the sick kid and the bad experience with the service, room and food we left a couple of stuff behind, someone out of his job duties and time went to the mail and send the stuff back to us, and this because the hotel don't have the service for customers, so, if you forget something really important or valuable you just have to forget about it or drive 150km back praying to find your things?. Besides this unnamed hero and the guy at the exit gate were the only people who deserve a thumbs up and a thank you, he was very nice to us. Summary, don't you ever ever dare to go to that place, is now a big no no for us. What was supposed to be a relaxing getaway from a stressful week for us became a nightmare…
I would not recommend this resort to any one. I had a clogged toilet bowl upon entering the room. The connecting door to the next room was not locked. People entered into the room. There was no hot water in the shower. We had to take a cold shower everyday. Also the room was out dated.
