We always spend our first and last night in Liberia. Hotel is less than 15 minutes from the airport. Hotel is set up in a square with a beautiful pool, kiddy pool, hot tub and gardens, within walking distance to great restaurants. Rooms on lower level easier for luggage, no stairs to 2nd level. Rooms are large but sparce with chairs in room, there are 2 chairs on the patio or balcony,
Let me just say that it’s on a very busy access road , close to a busy intersection, noisy needless to say, but there are rooms away from the road. The first room they gave us had the ceiling caving in. Asked to change to another room, a little better, but not much, everything is super dated, old and with a much needed update. I mean, I really didn’t want to use the beds if you know what I mean. The “parking lot” that’s what they call it, is just an unpaved road that runs behind the rooms. No designated parking. Oh, yeah, they hang the hotel sheets to dry on the second floor railing, real classy, and hygienic too! It’s not worth the meager savings, much better options in the area. We left, didn’t even spend the night.
Our group of 12 stayed here our first night in Costa Rica. We loved the huge pool and fun slide! A traditional Costa Rican breakfast was included and it was delicious. Rooms were comfortable and air conditioned. We would stay here again.
Bed, a/c, pool, staff were all fine. But no hot water for me is a bummer. An older, two-story hotel. Walking distance to some restaurants. They connected me to the taxi company so I could call them at 330am for pickup and that worked just fine. Only $12 to the airport.
The administrative portion of the hotel was a mess, we were charged something really different from the first pricing we received, even though we had already cancelled the full amount of our stay, the didn’t give us another choice but to pay more. We decided to star, as we had no other choice due to the dates we booked, we were received with a hostile behavior from the hotel that did not allow to properly celebrate new years eve. Really disappointed and would NOT recommend coming here on important dates or reserving beforehand, they would not keep their word.
Located next to the Pan American Highway and walking distance to the Parque Central and lots of restaurants and shopping. The desk clerk in the mornings spoke English and was very helpful.. Breakfast was included and was excellent.
This is our go to place to stay in Liberia. It’s a $20 taxi ride from the airport to there, maybe 10 minutes. The place is family run and much more typical Tico feeling than the Hilton. Even with the taxi cost it’s much less than a Hilton stay. A great hot breakfast is included in the price. The place is clean “enough”, not spotless by any means, but good enough. Pools are great. The hotel is also a short 5 minute walk to the local bus station where you can cheaply get all over the country, in our case, Nicoya to Samara. The staff speak English, albeit not fluently. I love waking up to the bird sounds of Costa Rica. It’s by the main road to San Jose, so you will experience some traffic noise.
This hotel has ascertain. Historic charm that cannot be replicated by any chain or resort. Close to everything, safe and clean. The staff were awesome, the pool was refreshing and the food was delicious. If you’re looking for a quiet place in the city this is it.
As I try to contribute this review, the WiFi continues to cut in and out as it has since I arrived last night. Very frustrating! However, if you don't need internet, the hotel is conveniently located, has very friendly staff, and attractive grounds with beautiful plantings and 2 pools. My room #215 has a balcony and a lovely view of the pool area. Parking is a bit convoluted but seems quite safe. Taco Bell and McDonald's are within a block walking distance but I would recommend the local fare at the hotel restaurant.
After a home-stay in Liberia with a lovely family but no air conditioning, I decided to treat myself to a hotel on my last night. This hotel was very affordable, the pool was clean and beautiful, they let me check in early so I could spend the afternoon relaxing at the pool, and the restaurant was quite good as well. It is very close to the highway so you might think it would be noisy but once you step into the courtyard, you don't hear the sound of trucks going by at all. Very peaceful yet close to everything Liberia has to offer.
