I was at this hotel 5 years ago and came back.It Que tengan un buen día very personable. The prices are very good and his ceviche was the best in town not mention the delicious salmon with red wine reduction. River is a great spot to do some birdwatching.

This hotel is located right in La Fortuna. You can take a bus from San Ramone for $5 to get to the city. The hotel is very affordable and super clean. Beds are pillow top and comfy. The rooms all have balconies or patios. The bathrooms have body wash pumps for soap that’s all. There is a safe and mini fridge. Great air conditioning too.
The free breakfast is decent and the fruit bowl was filling. They also give you free juice and coffee.
The pool is small but nice. During our stay there were only a few people at the pool.
Behind the hotel is a stream and a mini jungle. The staff should remove some of the old wood piles in that area as it’s a nice place to explore.
The staff are amazing and very friendly. We left small tips on the room and at the free breakfast.
You can easily walk from the hotel and explore the area and tour operators will pick you up from the hotel.

Hotel was perfect for our 2 night stay for our family of 4. With us was our 19 y/o and 16 y/o. Breakfast was included with a full menu at their outdoor garden cafe. The cafe sits next to a soothing river. It’s located in town so walking to restaurants is easy. A/C was cold once we figured out it was controlled by the remote (LOL!). Staff was very nice. Perfect location if you have no car.

Our accommodations were great, basic but all you need. The hotel is central and walking distance to many stores and restaurants. Front end staff, especially Melissa was very friendly and recommended some great day trips and restaurants. I would definitely stay there again!

My husband and I spent four nights at this lovely hotel. It’s right at the edge of La Fortuna, so you can walk to all the restaurants and shops easily. I can’t say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff were. If we had a question, they had an answer, whether it was what sites to see, how to arrange transportation, where to eat and where to get groceries. Our room had a lovely view of theArenal volcano. It also included a terrace, which we sat on whenever we were in the room. It was quiet, there was always a nice breeze and surprisingly mosquito free! There’s also a terrific restaurant at the property. Breakfast is included in the breakfasts were first rate. Always fresh fruit and juice with a wonderful variety of breakfast dishes. The restaurant sits next t two stream, so when you’re eating you’re also hearing the lovely sounds of the water rushing by. There are some sweet little trails on the property too. We saw lots of different kinds of birds. The pool, all those small, was delightful. After a full day of hiking or sightseeing it was wonderful to be able to go jump in the pool and paddle around a bitAnd relax in a lounge chair. If we are in the loft or tuna area again, we will definitely stay at Hotel Monte Real. Great value for the money!

Nice cosy room . Comfortable very clean . Good bathroom and shower . Balcony good view of volcano. Breakfast lovely and good choice to order . Hotel in good location in charming town . Staff helpful problem with tv remote and air con immediately rectified.

The grounds are beautiful, the employees are super nice and helpful. Ubers are plentiful but most anything you need is within walking distance. The front desk will assist you with arranging tours and recommending eateries or bars. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and highly recommend this hotel!!

I will say the breakfast was lovely. The hotel is just old fashioned but they were accommodating and let us keep our key behind reception as there were 2 of us doing separate activities. The hotel has a lovely view of the volcano when it isn't cloudy and is very central. It was also very cheap.

This hotel is excellent, but a bit dated. The rooms were spotless and the hotel is in a great location. The pool is in the middle of the complex and it is also very well kept. There is a small frog pond at the back of the hotel near the running stream We went back at night and found a tree frog among the bamboo. Excellent breakfast next door and is made to order. The only problem with breakfast was the sound of the traffic going by the open patio. All in all a great place to stay and explore Fortuna.

Great for the price and the location was perfect. Loved that we could see the volcano from our room! Room was clean and breakfast was in an adorable location. Only negative was that in a room of 4 girls, hot water ran out after the first person showered.
