Detailed Reviews
We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and enjoyed the spacious rooms and its location within a walking distance to La Fortuna downtown, and a short driving distance to many attractions. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel served a complimentary filing Costa Rican style breakfast and the pool was nice and clean.
The main drawbacks for us were the nearby road noise and the adjacent rooms sound isolation (we could hear our neighbors while inside our room). Also, it seemed like the hot tub was not usable and needed some maintenance.
Overall, if you don't expect a secluded resort like feel, you would find a nice, clean, safe and family friendly hotel for exploring the area while staying within a walking distance from La Fortuna downtown.

What a lovely spot! Adrianna and her staff were super friendly and accommodating and were available whenever we had questions. They recommended some great restaurants which did not disappoint either. It takes about 12-14 minutes to walk to the middle of town, the drive is 2 min down one road. This was by far the cleanest place I’ve stayed in so far and the breakfast they include in the stay was always fresh and delicious. Poolside was emmaculate and never busy, outside of the breakfast area it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves when we were hanging out and preparing for our day. They offer umbrellas if needed for the super rainy days. Very little mosquitos (thank god). I can’t say enough good things. We would stay here again if we came back to la Fortuna

We had to move our 4 night stay last minute to Arenal Country Inn after arriving at our booked hotel and it being not as advertised. Country Inn greeted us warmly even though we arrived late at night. Our room was clean and we always had hot water in the shower for our family of 4.
The included breakfast was a buffet of fruit, eggs, pancakes, rice & beans, plantains, toast, fruit juice and coffee.
We utilized the laundry service as we had clothes that were soaked from an excursion and returned that evening to them clean and folded in our room.
Front desk Alicia and all employees we encountered were friendly and always helpful. The hotel is close to town and plenty of food options. We would stay here again!

Cottage style rooms - functional and clean. Pretty grounds and I liked the breakfast. This hotel is a little far from town so you’ll probably end up taking taxis.
My biggest issue with this hotel is lack of WiFi. I had no WiFi in my room. It was only available in the breakfast area and reception. Not great for checking reservations or unwinding at the end of the day. There is also no phone in the room and they give you two remotes when you check in, in a pencil case that they then make sure you return on checkout. You have to leave a deposit to use the safe, you have to specially request a hairdryer. Remember there is no phone so you have to walk across the grounds to do these things. It’s annoying really.

Please forgive us for not having had the courtesy to respond to you promptly. We understand that you deserved it and for that, even now, we thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your experience. We learned a lot from your experience and improved most of the processes you talked about it. A year and a half ago we also contracted fiber optics internet and a company to improve the WiFi. Thanks again.

Decent Eco-friendly room with great breakfast options. Absolutely no Wifi in the room and you have to go to the lobby or the pool area to access wifi. Rooms are functional but you have to request hair dryer from the front office.
Located outside the town and hard to get Uber/cabs at times. The side walk to the town is not great and hence recommend stepping out when there is light.

Please forgive us for not having had the courtesy to respond to you in a timely manner. We understand that you deserved it and for that, even now, we thank you very much for such a nice comment that you shared with the community. We learn from complaints; thank you. By January 2021 we contracted fiber optics internet service and improved all routers in the property, therefore the problem with the WiFi is fortunately over.

The location was great, the staff were super friendly and the breakfasts were lovely, served in a converted cattle shed. The rooms were clean and well serviced, although a bit small for our needs. The parking was good and leaving the car was not a problem. We tried one of the 2 recommended restaurants near the inn, which was close (250m) and good value. The town was within walking distance, and had good facilities. The inn was far enough out of the town to be quiet at night but close enough to get to everything you need.

Thank you very much for staying at Arenal Country Inn while visiting La Fortuna. Your comments are much appreciated and real in all sense. Specifically talking about the size of the standard rooms, we try to promote them for two and/or the most three people; for bigger groups, we offer the Friends&Family rooms. As per your perception of distance from town combined with quietness; we are glad you understood and communicated the concept: thanks a lot!

Our family of 4 (12y and 15y kids) stayed recently for 4 days. We came from another area of the country with a ton of wet clothes that would not dry in the rainy season. For a fee the hotel took our large bag of laundry and had it fresh and folded the following morning. It felt like christmAs getting all those dry clothes!
This is a small hotel, beautifully manicured grounds, and a nice view of the volcano if it is out of the clouds. We did not swim in the pool, but it was clear and large and appealing.
The sheets were crisp and dry and the room impeccably clean. I found the beds quite comfortable. We had a room by the pool and my kids report that the Wi-Fi was great. It was a room with 2 twin beds and a double bed. One of the twins had a trundle so we each had a separate bed. Hot showers. Great a/c.
Breakfast was included and served outdoors in a rustic covered area that was clean and nicely set up. A buffet is served with fruit, eggs, pancakes, toast, and some Costa Rican choices that always included gallo pinto and some other rotating choices.
The hotel feels like it is outside the city, but it is well within walking distance to the center of town. Within a few blocks are a nice pizza/ pasta place and a grocery store. We took an Uber into the center of town one day in the rain for a few dollars.
The hotel staff helped us set up tours and activities and we enjoyed all of their recommendations. Overall a great stay!

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The hotel was peaceful and the rooms were dotted about the beautiful grounds with lovely flowers, exotic plants and colourful birds. There was a lovely, good size swimming pool which was perfect after our wildlife tours. The hotel has a good location - two good restaurants are within 5 minutes walking distance and the town is only 15 mins on foot - extremely helpful if you don't have your own car.

Wonderful stay in the beautiful area of La Fortuna. The grounds to the hotel are stunning absolutely teaming with wildlife, spent hours sitting on bench outside bungalow just admiring the view, the noise was incredible. The bungalows were perfect for our stay and you can request a kettle and pool towels etc. the children used the pool frequently and it was great for an evening dip after a hike. The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty with a good selection. Location was ideal, 5 mins walk to town and a couple of mins walk to El Salto rope swing. The view of volcán Arenal was incredible. Perfect please to spend a few days exploring Arenal area

Our stay at the Country Inn in April 2023 was an exceptional experience. The resort is family run and the owners and staff were extremely accommodating during our 1 week stay. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. We were able to view many birds amongst the many trees and bushes surrounding our room. The room was comfortable and cleaned every day. A fridge helped with leftovers. The resort provided a hardy Costa Rican breakfast every morning and the village of La Fortuna was only a few minutes away and had numerous restaurants to choose from for lunches and dinners. The pool was exceptional, always clean and surrounded by lush plants with a view of the Arenal volcano, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting. We highly recommend this charming resort.
