Detailed Reviews
My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights. The staff is incredibly helpful, very professional and super super friendly! The food at the restaurant is very good, the hotelās location great (only about 8 minutes by car to La Fortuna center), and the views from their rooms are breathaking. You will truly feel at home at Arenal Volcano Inn.
Muchisimas gracias a todo el equipo, fue una experiencia memorable para nosotros! Esperamos volver pronto. Pura vida!

The hotel is outside of the very touristic area of La Fortuna and actually on the way to the Arenal Volcano National Park and Lake Arenal. The pretty bungalows are spread out in a wonderful garden and every individual bungalow has a very nice view to the volcano. The very good breakfast is served in the restaurant with big windows and a huge variety of birds can be observed when they take their fruits offered by the hotel. The hotel employees are extremely friendly and helpful.

Our stay at Arenal Volcano Inn proved to be a comfortable retreat, perfectly located for exploring Arenal and the surrounding areas.
We stayed in a deluxe suite that offered breath-taking views of the impressive Arenal Volcano. Waking up to such a sight each morning was truly unforgettable and added an extra layer of charm to our stay.
The hotel offers a decent pool area, perfect for soaking up the sun on warm days. While not overly luxurious, it provided a refreshing respite after a day of exploring the surrounding area.
Mixed Dining Experience: Although we opted to dine out in La Fortuna for dinner each night (there are plenty of good quality restaurants and bars to choose from- lost of life and atmosphere in the town and uber from the hotel was about $3), we did partake in the breakfast offered at the hotel, which was a fairly mediocre buffet style option.
Comfortable Accommodations: Our room was perfectly comfortable and provided all the amenities we needed for a pleasant stay. The bed was huge and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. The large jacuzzi bathtub was perfect for a cold soak to sooth the sunburn!
Ideal Base for Exploring: Arenal Volcano Inn served as an ideal base for exploring the plethora of activities and attractions in the area. From volcano hiking and hot springs, to white water rafting (highly recommend Paddle9) and exploring the hanging bridges, there was no shortage of adventures to embark on.
In conclusion, Arenal Volcano Inn isn't a luxurious hotel but is perfectly comfortable and offers prime views of the volcano. It's a solid choice for those needing nothing more than a comfortable base while exploring Arenal, La Fortuna and the variety of excursions available.

The room had the perfect view to the Arenal volcano. Just like the breakfast place.
The staff was friendly and the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
The pool and the Jacuzzi were just big enough for us on a rainy day.
The breakfast was good since there were a wide range of choices with coffee.
The location of the hotel is perfect for all the activities in the area.
The dinner and lunch options were too pricey compared to the choices. Pizza and pasta is not what I was looking for in Central America.
Room service was only upon request which was great.
Laundry service was temporarily not available which was unfortunate.
Dont' try the horse riding activity because the guide is not friendly and the horses are in bad shape.

We stayed here as part of a Gate 1 tour. These are cute spacious bungalows with beautiful grounds having great views of the volcano.
Each unit has high ceilings, AC and fan, a decent bathroom with a modern shower and a small kitchen type area with a mini fridge, sink and coffeemaker. The beds are also very comfortable. The TV is small, up in a corner, with only a couple of English speaking stations. The breakfast buffet is very good and has a large variety of choices. Daily housekeeping is available by leaving a card on your door. We took advantage of this especially since you are asked to not put toilet paper in the commode. (common in CR).
There is a nice pool and jacuzzi. and you can see birds everywhere at this beautifully tropical well manicured property. If you go to the top of the hill near the back of the property you can get the best view of the volcano, sit on a bench and take it all in. The volcano seemed to be the clearest in the mornings and clouded up toward the afternoon. So do check it out at various times of the day for some great pictures!
Although the room was large, there was very little space for clothing. All we had was some open shelving. No dressers seems to be a thing in CR. Make sure you bring your own tissues too as none are supplied (another CR oddity). Also donāt count on Wi-Fi working in your room. It worked only briefly by the window, then would not connect. My husband needed to send an important file and was able to access the Wi-Fi at reception, with the assistance of some very helpful staff. Canāt complain too much, these were minor inconveniences, considering where you are located!
All in all, we were quite pleased with our volcano view accommodations. Its a perfect base for exploring the Arenal area.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. Unfortunately it was rainy all but one day so we did not get to enjoy the view that much. When it is cloudy the view is very obscured. That did not however detract from the lush gardens or dozens of birds flitting around. The room was spacious with lovely cathedral ceilings however it did feel somewhat dated and sparse and could use a microwave or at least a communal microwave on property. The staff that we worked with upon check in and check out were nice and the process was easy. Breakfast was fine but nothing spectacular. Overall we might return but it was the most expensive place we stayed while in costa rica and our least favorite of the three.

The hotel staff were rude and very unhelpful. Wifi connection was terrible. Rooms havenāt seen any attention in a good few years and are run down. Attention to detail is lacking. We generally found the people of Costa Rica very friendly and helpful but the staff here must hate their jobs as they always seemed annoyed when you approached them and didnāt seem to care about anything you said. We also found to strange that breakfast was a buffet but you werenāt allowed to serve yourself. Iām guessing to save on waste? But this meant getting given one piece of melon (for example) and having to say āmore pleaseā several times - I tried saying 3 or 4 melon pieces pleaseā¦ did not help. Very frustrating having to wait to be served and then saying more over and over (Iām not even that big of an eater). Location isnāt great unless you have a car as itās 10-15 minutes drive from town, not walking distance to anything. Iād just suggest staying elsewhere. Be better volcano inn.

Pro: Friendly welcome, spacious rooms / houses that were completely separate, so no noise from neighbors. Breakfast was included and was taken in the nearby restaurant. Service was good. Hotel is located about a 2 km from the center of La Fortuna. For us, experienced travelers, this is an 8.5 out of 10.
Con: Dark room, little pressure on the sink as in the shower. It was reported, but was not much better after repair.

Can't say enough good things about the service at the Arenal Volcano Inn. I left an item in their (wonderful) restaurant, Que Rico, and discovered the error after leaving Arenal. The hotel manager worked with me to retrieve the item and forward it on to me at another location in-country, working tirelessly, with seemingly round-the-clock lightening fast response. Location is especially beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the many dishes available at Que Rico, as well as the incredible views.

To call this room āSpartanā is an insult to Sparta. There were two towels, two rock-hard pillows and the only hanging space was 30ā above the floor so the clothes dragged on the ground. Room looked out on a gravel parking lot.No place to sit and utterly bare walls. Worst of all, the room was not secure. Door was a slider with a flimsy lock that opened when jiggled.
Included breakfast was just OK.
Look elsewhere; you can do better.

Dear Tripadvisor User, Your review does not correspond to our hotel. We do not have a room named Sparta, we only use numbers to refer to our rooms. Our closets have very good altitud so hanging clothing will never touch the floor. No gravel roads neither parking lot in our hotel. We kindly request to please remove your review since it is definitely not referring to our hotel.

Dear Pat, there are many taxis available in the area and they are easily contacted by our front desk staff ( from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm)
Its an easy nice walk and worth the extra room and bets view of the volcano
Sorry I didn't answer this! I didn't check this account for a while. I was with a tour so we arrived via bus from San Jose. Hope you had a great time!
Dear Douglas, we also enjoy having you as a guest in Arenal Volcano Inn. Thank you so much for so many compliments. All of us at Arenal Volcano Inn really appreciate them.
Whenever you want to take the tour around our gardens you just have to let the front desk know and we will be happy to go with you.
Best regards,
HernƔn Cordero
