Detailed Reviews
Beautiful property, just minutes out of town. Quite, clean rooms, comfy beds, good breakfast. Our room was facing the creek, just a beautiful location to sit on the deck, have your coffee in the morning and watch the birds or have a glass of wine in the evening and just listen to the creek. Breakfast starts at 7:30 am, but Laura was very accomodating and served us breakfast at 7 am. We are early risers and on Easter time zone and wanted to be at 8 am at Arenal Volcano National Park (first day) and Mistico Hanging Bridges (second day). We were able to do that thanks to Laura's excellent customers service. We really appreciated that.

The Staff here especially Laura (who I would consider the manager) were just absolutely amazing. From the initial moment you stepped out of your car, you were greeted as if we were relatives who haven't been seen in a while just thrilled to have us there. Through-out our stay Laura just took the reins to make sure everything about our visit would be wonderful, making us laugh, feeding the birds during breakfast so we could see them, or even when I was frustrated that I had to use the internet from the dining area at 11pm (poor room reception) she still managed to turn my frustration around into being cozy and happy. I can go on and on about Laura, but letās just say we both wanted to hug Laura upon leaving, which who hugs staff? But would of done it here if it wasnāt for Covid and distancing.
Now onto the rooms, well these rooms are just not something the wife and I would stay in again. So on our first night the wife and I were put into one section of the resort, in which both of us felt the room was wore down. It truly needs a refresher and the bath room needs to be fixed up including few spots of mold and a new toilet seat that basically broken. As mentioned above neither of our (3) phones or my laptop could get internet reception from this room, hence we started off having to go to the kitchen area to utilize internet to get tour/activity information. Laura picked up on our frustration and moved us on our second night to a really nice view room that ran along the rushing water creek, the sound at night with your window open was incredible. However the room itself was extremely small, perhaps one of the smallest rooms we've stayed in. Felt as if the wife and I had to constantly shuffle around each other to get our clothes, use the bathroom, etc. I like a room where I can layout my toiletries for ease of use, but there was nothing more than a small shelf. There is no closet in the room, but instead a coat rack with hangers. The room safe was not only not working, but wasnāt even secure to the wall. Anyone could pick up the safe and walk away with it, or I could of thrown it in my suitcase as a souvenir. Just didnāt make sense and needless to say was not used by myself. I seen that they were in the middle of construction of another series of rooms being built the same way, that this is their latest floor plan for upcoming rooms. So itās disappointing to see this is how their upgrading what Iād consider the original rooms the first night, to these latest more modern rooms in which are lacking the basics in a major way.
So to sum it up, the staff and Laura were just amazing people and so dang kind. She's the sweetest lady that you really don't want to say anything bad about this place. However the rooms themselves were quite disappointing and nothing we would stay in again, but will for sure stop in to the bar that Laura said they have plans for to say hello.

This is a great spot about 10 minutes outside everything nice in La Fortuna. The manager Louda was so friendly and accommodating she made us very comfortable. We ate delicious fresh breakfast every morning while observing the exotic animals. The property has a river in the back where you can see monkeys in the morning. Several villas and a pool relatively basic set up but You can buy day tickets to the 5 star hotels for the day nearby.

I stayed at Eco Arenal Hotel for 2 nights and wish I did not.
The biggest problem was the shower. The night we arrived, after a day of hiking the shower did not work! No water. The hotel said the problem was widespread, it wasnāt, and that there was a problem with the aqueduct. Since the sink and the toilet had water, that was another lie.
The hotel made no effort to fix the shower and refused to move us to another room. We went to bed filthy.
The next day we had some activities planned which were very enjoyable. When we got back to the room we had a new shower head which fixed the problem. But all was not well. The hot water lasted less than a minute.
The hotel sent someone to look at the shower. By then the hot water was replenished. At least for a few seconds.
If you plan to stay in this hotel, beware they will not take responsibility for any problem.
In addition the walls are paper thin and the beds are very hard. Problems I could over look but not being able to shower after a day of activity to totally unacceptable.
Would have given it 0 stars.

The lady Laura was very cute and dismissive . The rooms were not equipped with basics. Our coffeemaker was kept with no tea bags or coffee. U have to buy it! We managed to get Exoticca to ask her to give it to us. The glasses and ice pail is kept in the toilet area opp the pot! One of the rooms leaked every time it rained. The pool was not maintained and the path to our villa had potholes so our suitcases got damaged at the wheels trying to drag it. No help to lug suitcases. No phone in the room. U either have to walk back and forth in the sun or get their WhatsApp number and send a message. Breakfast was a joke. They donāt want to keep any food out. Kept saying it was over, and yet we told them we were 6 of us and they did nothing. After a while another group came in and a full breakfast was magically brought out! The landscaping and flowers and plants are beautiful! The place is quiet and serene but We will NEVER stay here or recommend it to anyone.

Had a comfortable stay here in the small lodges - it was quiet at night with only one shared wall with another unit. The lodges are small but comfortable with a cute front porch. They were great for travelers like us who were out doing activities most of the day and mostly just needed a place to sleep. Breakfast was good ($10USD I think), the grounds are lovely with many beautiful plants, didn't use the pool. It's about a 20-25min walk from downtown Fortuna but a cab ride is only a few dollars.

I highly recommend this hotel. The location is ideal with a beautiful river/stream running along the property but located just a few minutes from town. The included breakfast was delicious. The staff were all friendly and willing to assist in any way possible. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend the Eco Arenal Hotel - you come as a guest but feel like a member of the family when you go. Pura Vida!

Stayed here 2 nights with our group. Grounds are pretty, rooms are comfortable. AC worked great. However, there was zero water pressure to shower in our 2 nd floor room The water dribbled out and it was either scorching hot or freezing cold. If you wanted to brew coffee in your room it costs three dollars. Getting into town is about a 20 minute walk. The sheet cover on our bed smelled like it hadnāt been washed in while. We did like that they had card games to play as well as some soccer balls and frisbees to borrow in the front office.

From the moment we arrived the concierge was helpful. She showed us a map of everything local to us. Breakfast was served 7-9am. The restaurant only provided dinner for big tour groups which was fine because she pointed us to a restaurant that we could walk right across the street to have food and drinks. The downtown area is about 5 minutes away so you can easily visit souvenir shops, pharmacies, markets, and other food places. The room we stayed in had AC, comfortable beds, clean linens, and a beautiful bathroom with a private shower and private toilet (both had doors). Every day someone came in, made our beds, and replaced our towels. All of the staff were kind and friendly. There are so many activities to do local to this area. I would definitely stay here again. La fortuna waterfalls are a short drive away and are wonderful!

+1
First of all, Laura made us feel like family, she is an amazing person! The room was fairly small but comfortable and functional. The grounds were beautiful, full of flowers and fruit. The river running through the back of the property was also beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and well balanced, Laura would have something special for my daughters to eat every morning (ages 4 & 7). We were calling her grandma Laura by the end of our stay because she was so accommodating like a grandma. She made the whole experience wonderful!
I read numerous complaints about no hot water before I stayed there but I stayed at 3 different hotels during my vacation in Costa Rica and their water heating systems are not what they are in the United States. The temperatures fluctuate as toilets are flushed and the hot water tends to run out quickly. This wasn't a big deal for me because I was often sweating and wanted a cool shower anyways.

You best check the website and/or call or mail the hotel.
Tripadvisor does not allow placing links as answer so google on the hotel name: villas Eco Arenal. You get the website.
On others booking sites it says "Pets are not allowed", but i think it is best to check with the hotel.

The breakfast was included in the price of our cabin. They had a buffet which included fresh fruit, bread and spreads, cheeses, pancakes, and other assorted items. There was some meat, but enough other items that you could eat without requesting anything special.
They will assist with booking sight seeing trips.
I do not know the answers about transportation as we had a rental car.
I hope you enjoy your trip.
