Detailed Reviews
We just stayed for 3 nights on arrival in Costa Rica as a family, taking 3 cabins, and had a lovely stay here. The cabins are reasonably basic but lacked nothing we wanted and were always clean. We picked here as the price was very reasonable compared to the higher end resorts that had facilities we knew we wouldnāt use at this destination as we were here for the adventure activities.
The breakfast was an extra charge of $6 and included fruit, fruit juice, coffee, and a choice of hot meal (Costa rican, American or pancakes) - definitely worth it.
At the end of the day we chilled out in the bar and played jenga. We also tried the restaurant on site called Ginger and it was delicious (try the steak al gratin!), so we ate there 2 nights. Both nights it took over an hour from ordering to food arrival as itās a small kitchen and they make everything fresh, so just plan ahead and settle with a drink in the bar while you wait. Itās worth the wait!

We spent 3 night here while visiting La Fortuna. First, the staff is amazing. Alejandra, Roy, Alonso and one other young woman whose name I did not get, were so helpful and kind. Lisette front housekeeping did a great job keeping our room tidy. Alejandra and the front desk staff were great when we had to rearrange some tours and always called taxis for us as my phone did not get a signal while there. Our room, #9, was kind of separate from the others...very private. It was lovely and very comfortable. One suggestion... lighting is very much needed on the path leading down to #9, so be sure to ask front desk for a flashlight before walking down at night. Also the bathroom, while very nice, needs hooks for towels, etc. There are none. Neither of these would deter me from staying again while in La Fortuna. The included breakfast is great and the one dinner we had there was excellent as well.

We stayed in the standard room (private lodge) and it had two queen beds with four comfy pillows each. The hosts were very accommodating. Even though the on-site restaurant was closed (covid times) we were served a tasty tico breakfast with coffee and fresh star fruit juice right to our front door. They recommended a restaurant that delivered to the hotel when we were too tired to go out. The waterfall is very close- just a five minute drive. There is a lovely river running through the property that makes for a perfect jungle oasis. You do not have to leave your back balcony or front terrace to see wildlife as the morning featured many variety of birds and especially hummingbirds to view in the colourful and well established garden. At night the bats were persistent. We did not see one mosquito!

What a mediocre experience! The only thing i liked about this accommodation was the beautiful surroundings and the really nice staff. They do a great job greeting you and being cordial. If you need a towel or have a maintenance request they act quickly.
We were upgraded to the deluxe cabin.
When I viewed the room, i was not too impressed so asked to see the superior room that I had originally booked as it was listed on their website as romantic. They said they didnāt have that room available. Pretty deceptive in my opinion. The room was full of ants and the bathroom had a seriously funky smell from a bad sewage system, i would imagine. We tried a couple times to have them fix it, but it would only temporarily mask the problem for a day or two. This hotel is good if you are passing through and looking for a place to rest your head for the night or get a good price. I paid over $700 for a week (not including breakfast) The manager gave $20 off for the inconveniences. Laughable

This is a family operated small hotel which is surrounded by a beautiful lush greens. If you are looking for luxury, this is not it. But if you like to support local businesses and like to stay in local, non-chain type of hotels, this one is a gem. Cabin style rooms with a little patio in the back with a hammock for you to relax on overlooking the garden. There is a patio and chairs in front of the room too. Staff was friendly and helpful and took care of our needs. It's only 3 km away from majestic La Fortuna waterfall. the one thing I did not like was it needs more light inside the room since you don't get a lot of daylight (and especially at night the room feels a little dark) and doors are a little hard to open and close but it might be usual for places that get a lot of rain due to how wood reacts to rainy weather. There is a restaurant right next door which serves a wide variety of food so if you come back hungry and tired and don't want to take a 5 minute taxi ride to town, this restaurant (not owned by hotel) serves a wide variety of food and smoothies. They have a ping pong table near the front desk so you can play ping pong when you are waiting for your tour taxi to pick you up. One other recommendation, if you can get cabins in the back (not facing the road), that might be helpful because the town wakes up early and you hear noise of vehicles from the road early in the morning.

We enjoyed our stay @ Rancho Cerro Azul. We were only a 5 min taxi ride away from the center of town. Everyday we were woken up to the sounds of birds chirping away right at sunrise, which we were able to enjoy from the hammocks and the back porch. A 5 min walk through the back of the property led you to the river that flows from LaFortuna Waterfall and just from our back porch we were lucky enough to see toucan, hummingbirds and a family of howler monkeys swinging away. They offer breakfast on the property for $7 pp a day which was perfect. You choose from three options tipico, americano and pancakes. The owners of the property which run it are always willing to help arrange activities or make suggestions. Thank you Roy & Alonzo for a great stay

+1
We stopped for lunch at the restaurant and weāre extremely happy with authentic Costa Rican food. The chef made extra effort to make each dish, very presentable and delicious. Prices seemed very reasonable considering that the food was high-quality gourmet but also authentic Costa Rican at the same time. There is also a lovely trail on the property, beautiful gardens, and even some games if you bring children. The restaurant overlooks lovely gardens with a nice atmosphere.

Had a wonderful time staying at the Hotel Rancho Cerro Azul. With it being the first place we stayed at in Costa Rica, the standards were set high not only by its beautiful location, clean private cabana rooms, and filling local cuisine for breakfast, but especially from the wonderful hospitality we received. Elvis, although only starting 3 days ago, was wonderful in making us feel welcomed through special accommodations and helping us feel confident through his expert aid in planning all of our excursions and even giving budget-friendly alternatives!

This little ranch is amazing and I would recommend anyone to stay here. There are only like 12 cabins or less so it's very small and not crowded at all.
There is a lovely walk literally down from the ranch that you can do easily, take's you to a river. You can also try and see some beautiful birds.
The breakfast is also very very nice. Not a massive selection, however, the Costa Rican breakfast is amazing. Definitely try this.
The stuff is so helpful. They helped us book our tour guide, walking up Arenal volcano. They can also organise other excursions. Just speak to the people at the front desk.

Excellent location, with car about 5 minutes to town and quite a few attractions, including La Fortuna Falls and Bogarin Trail.
The room was very spacious and clean, the property landscape is beautiful and well kept to attract all kinds of birds, there is a short trail in the property that takes you to the river side, very peaceful
Family owned and operated, we met two incredible young men, Isaac and Kevin, very respectful, courteous and responsible, my compliments to them.
will definitely go back. thanks

We had breakfast in the restaurant one of the mornings
Uber is active in areas of CR and very reasonably priced.
Sorry... only just seen the question.
We didn't see any monkeys, and I think it unlikely they would be close. I have seen them close in other places.
Not a problem at all. We did the same thing.
