Well it was a strange one night trip at this Hampton Inn. Check in was smooth, room on first floor was fine, although could have been cleaner (floors turned wet feet in bathroom into black footprints from shower on white towels). The weirdness started when my kids wanted to go swim. It was chilly but they never care so we headed out to the pool around 7:20. They swam for 30 minutes or so and then we were informed the pool was closed due to hurricane damage back in the fall. Errrrrr, there was zero indication this thing was closed. No sign, no locked door, no cones blocking off steps or ladders. I even double checked after we left to be sure I just hadn’t noticed. The website nor the app mention it, which would’ve been a deal breaker for me since my kids always want to swim. So weird!! Now I’m hoping they don’t get some sort of weird closed pool crud from the water! And then it was bedtime and after everyone fell asleep, there was a lot of noise from the housekeeping area next to our room, which subsided around 11p. Around 1:15a my husband and I were startled awake from some sort of insanity going on above us. I have never heard the like of it at a hotel. It wasn’t kids running around, it was like they were bowling or throwing furniture across the room!! We laid there hoping it would stop soon since it was so late, but by 2am we were fed up and exhausted, so my husband called the front desk. I will say whatever the desk said or did stopped the craziness almost instantly. What a relief! Went back to sleep and then a hail storm erupted at 3am. Gracious, it was a night! The rude guest and weather aren’t this hotel’s doing, but the pool thing was so odd. Please post a sign! All in all, you could tell this hotel is trying to bounce back from covid rules and hurricane damage, but isn’t quite back to normal Hilton standards. I empathize though, since we live in another community affected by a recent hurricane and understand it takes a while to recover. …
Good location and service. Cleanliness lacked to say the least. Our room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned after we checked in. There was dirt on the floor, the bathtub was filthy, and the shower curtain had mold on it.
The hotel was very clean, and the staff was kind. However, our room on the first floor was just beside the kitchen (signage reads: Employees Only) where the workers went every morning and began banging around at 4 am. When I made the reservation, I requested a room on the highest floor. As you can imagine, I was disappointed to find out my room was not on a high floor. Instead, it was on the first floor beside the employee kitchen area and only 12 feet from the side entrance/exit. There was constant noise, so sleep was only possible after midnight until about 4 am. Even after asking the front desk for a new room, I was told there wasn’t one available for me. I hope no one ever has to stay in room 106 at this location. That’s not because the room isn’t nice. It’s clean, has high ceilings, is well equipped, and is very comfortable. Sadly, the first floor occupants won’t get much rest, which is the whole point of staying in a hotel. I hope management will make necessary adjustments for the sake of future guests. It’s unfair to pay $307 PER NIGHT for a room in which you can’t sleep more than three hours. …
I booked this hotel because I normally enjoy Hampton Inns. When we got to the room, we noticed there were ants all over the table area by the fridge and tv. They moved us to another room across the hall. That room was no better. There was a string of hair in the tub and the bathroom smelled like urine. At this point I was tired and we had just unpacked everything from moving from the other room. I brought clorox and lysol myself from home, so I ended up cleaning the bathroom myself because I didnt feel like moving again. I will not be staying here again when visiting Gulf Shores.
We stayed overnight here last week because of the ratings. We must’ve checked in at a bad time, because this place was dirty and I couldn’t wait to check out. The front lobby is about the only clean area. Hallways had overflowing trash. Our bathroom faucet and shower were dirty. The faucet was so dirty that my teenagers noticed it. Tried to call down to the front desk and no answer. I cleaned it with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Speaking of toilet paper, the roll on the holder had been wet and we threw it away because we didn’t know what it was wet from. I grabbed the extra blanket in the closet, to use and it had candy wrappers in it, so we didn’t use it just in case it wasn’t clean. The housekeepers did not have masks on and were hanging out on our floor. We passed them several times and it was just very weird. The grab and go breakfasts were cold eggs and cold sausage and only one yogurt, one banana available and only coffee at 8:30 am. We are a family of four. I passed because I didn’t know how long they had been sitting out without heat. There was no one around to ask how long they have been sitting out. We tried to give a heads up at the front desk as we were checking out and we waited for at least 10 minutes and no one came to the front desk. We said hello because the door behind the desk was open, but no one was there. Very disappointed. This place must be low staffed because no one was ever around. Beautiful building on the outside, loved the fridge in the room, but that was it for pluses. …
