Pros: old-fashioned, charming motel. Mini-frig in room. Clean. Cons: No free breakfast, internet very slow, no online or email confirmation—mail you a postcard. Covered veranda across motel, used as a playground by unsupervised kids, run up and down by your window until late at night. Parents have loud conversations on this veranda too, so little peace and quiet (at $130 per night).
FYI, I had booked a room and had ice storm viola stop us in our tracks and unable to travel south to gulf breeze from Nashville TN. I called the hotel and the owner said no refund or even a credit for another date! This storm shut down the state of Texas, but oh no I still have to pay for a room I cannot get to. With owners like this I'll go to a homeless campment before I ever stay here. I'm speechless.
We were evacuated to Mobile because of an upcoming hurricane. First hotel in Mobile was disgusting and dirty. Moved to second hotel and lost power. Couldn’t do Another night without power in hotel with young children. Called gulf breeze and they said they could help us. No power, but guess what...a gulf breeze through our open windows! We have made the best memories here and after a night and day the power came back on, but we still ate by flashlights to still have fun. CLEANEST place. Fresh paint, clean floors, and clean bedding and bathroom. Owners are super friendly and work so hard. They and their team worked so hard to clean up after another bad storm/hurricane that walking around when we arrived, which was 1 day in aftermath, they had all debris and nails cleaned up. I can’t say enough good things for Gulf Breeze. ❤️❤️…
This place served the purpose. Last minute booking for a decent price. Didn’t see anything complained about in other reviews. Room was clean and we had plenty of space. Sure the place is dated but it was comfortable and served us well.
We stayed here for four nights and were very pleased with our choice. It is the only hotel/motel on the island so we decided to give it a try (the rest are condominiums and house rentals). We stayed in their two room suite. It had a full kitchen (fridge, microwave, stove, pots and pans, dishes and silverware) which allowed us to fix our own food and not eat out as much. A couple things that you need to know about the room: there are two rooms but neither room has a door. We figured that was because there was one window unit that needed to reach each room. Both bedrooms shared a restroom in the middle which was fine. It gets a little warm in the bedrooms so you might want to bring a fan. The price they list on the website it for two people - the charge $10 extra for each person after that (I thought this was strange but had no choice). The hotel worked fine for us and we might consider staying here again in the future. …
