We stayed in one of the owner villas, which is different from what the resort is offering for nightly stays, so I'll just offer my impressions on the resort, restaurants, staff, etc. This is sort of an upscale 'get away from it all' experience.. you are on part of an island off an island off the coast. Being an island, its remote, peaceful, and safe, but there isn't a whole lot to do except relax, walk on the beach, and read a book. I loved it. The property is well-maintained, the staff are friendly and responsive to requests and problems. They do not all speak perfect english, so normal interactions with staff 'in the wild' may not be smooth. Our biggest frustration were the water taxis, which can charge a wide range in dollars for a trip back to Bocas town-- we paid $5-10 per person on average each way, sometimes we got a direct trip, sometimes we were on a route that stopped in a few places on the island. Be sure to find out the cost before getting on the taxi, and bring plenty of small bills (everything is in US dollars with the taxis and restaurants for the most part, everyone takes dollars, but sometimes you get local currency in change. ) There are only a few restaurants accessible to the resort, and they have similar menus-- after a few days you start getting a little tired of the menu. However, the food was good enough quality, if not great. There is a small market at the resort with just enough fresh food and staples to do your own cooking one or two nights if you get tired of eating out. We had a golf cart, which made getting around much easier-- any walk uphill and you're a sweaty mess in minutes. This is a Jungle, so it is hot and wet. hopefully you have access to a pool through the resort, and there is one at the beach club that fits the bill nicely. The beaches are lovely and nearly deserted-- frankly, the whole resort seemed almost empty when we were there.

The staff at the Red Frog are so nice and so helpful! Stephanie at the front desk was very friendly, always greeted us with a smile and offered to help. Mario, the manager, was also amazing. They made us feel well taken care of. The grocery store at the resort is small, but has many of the basics (and a little more) that you may need. Very convenient. We had an amazing 3 bedroom villa - it was clean, comfortable, spacious and the air conditioning worked well (which was appreciated given the jungle heat and humidity). We had access to a golf cart, which was essential to get around. Walking would take a long time. A highlight was seeing Capuchin monkeys and sloths as we were driving around the resort. The spa is in a beautiful setting, worth seeing. The massage was so relaxing. The zip line tour was fun, although each line was shorter and slower than those in Costa Rica. It is a moderately challenging activity, is not for those afraid of heights, and be sure to use bug spray or wear long pants. I highly recommend booking a private dinner in your villa. Chef Yalilia and Raphael made amazing dinners for our family. Two of the best meals we had in Panama! The Pointe was a great casual place for dinner. If you go into Bocas del Toro for dinner, consider Ultimo Refugio. We enjoyed our seaside meal. Nacho Mammas Taco Bar (next to the resort) on the beach was perfect for lunch. Lastly, I recommend a day trip to Zapatilla Island for snorkeling. Lunch afterwards at Rest Alfonso was fresh and delicious (lobster, shrimp, fish).

Beautiful Villa. Loved the pool, laundry room and kitchen. Rooms were spacious and very clean. However, the biggest issue was no golf cart during our stay and we were really far away from everything with no options. When we called for a ride with lots of notice, sometimes no one came or we waited and waited and stressed about missing our plans for the day. We asked for a golf cart but were told none were available. Aside from the absolute need for one, it would have made exploring the island much more fun for our family of five. Two high a price points to have the golf cart/transportation issue. Also, only had bath towels in the Villa the first few days. Housekeeping came at the end of day two and we then had hand towels for the bathrooms. That was a miss. Grocery on site was well stocked. Would have liked more restaurant options. Lovely resort and welcoming staff, but golf cart issue needs to be addressed.

Must rent a golf cart for your family! The resort is very spread out and hilly. Nice variety of restaurants with very decent food. Amazing staff. Enjoyed zip line, beach club, jet skiing. Also used separate guide for Zapatillas boat trip. Bring bug spray.

Red Frog was amazing. We arrived December 27 and stayed for 4 nights. The villa was well furnished, comfortable, good AC and fans that kept it cool, large balconies, and very clean. Walking out to the beach or the beach club or our own pool was great. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back. We loved it.

We were at Red Frog Beach Island Resort over the holidays in December 2023. There were several positives and negatives about our trip. Room: The interior of our 3 bedroom beachfront villa was amazing. The grounds/walkway to the beach need maintenance badly. Transportation: We booked transportation to and from the Bocas airport and both times, the person never showed up so we had to take a water taxi and regular taxi to/from the airport. This was highly stressful both times. I had requested a golf cart prior to our arrival and was told that there were none available. I asked again at check-in and was told that there were none. However, due to our inconvenience with the transportation from the airport, the resort manager found one for us to use. This was huge because everything is spread out and a golf cart is necessary with 2 kids. Excursions: We had a wonderful experience with ziplining and the excursion with Anthony for snorkeling, lunch and Playa Zapatilla. Massages: Both my husband and I got deep tissue massages on separate days. The therapist and ambience were both great. Food: La Rosa food was average to good. The Point Grill food was better but we could not charge it to our room (I'm not sure why since I thought it was part of the resort). The plastic tables at the Point are in need of a serious makeover. The Palmar Grill (not part of the resort) is a short walk from the Point Grill and had excellent food and drinks (spicy margarita!). We never made it to Nacho Mama next door for lunch. The Deli Market at Red Frog had the basics and was helpful for breakfast/lunch food. Bottom line - we enjoyed our stay at Red Frog but likely will not go back.

Red Frog was very accommodating! They were very kind and helpful when we needed it. I would suggest them to anyone traveling to Bocas. Our condo was nice and it was great to be able to drive the golf cart around. Massage was lovely in the rainforest.

The house we stayed at was amazing. Very well decorated and maintained. Though we stayed in the forest, we experienced no bug problems. Though the walk to the beach in front of the villa was a bit run down, out experience was great. Breakfast was ok but not too good. Not many restaurant options on the island so we had to go to bocas town. Staff very friendly and so are the boat drivers. Our guy was named bibo or something like that and he was great.
