I got sick and was super happy that I stayed at casa del toro. It is a very quiet place and you can have a good rest. I did not feel like a guest, more like a family member. We watched Netflix together and they even cooked for me. I am glad I stayed there and I have gained some new friends now. AWESOME place if you want to chill and be with locals.
This is not a party hostel but suits those seeking to escape loud music for a perfect sleep. This hostel is quite new and not many people know it, also because they don't call it "hostel" but "bed and breakfast" which for sure scares budget travelers. There are 4 rooms with a total of 10 bunkbeds (20 beds). During my stay of 8 days we were only 6 or 7 turists, and we were all put in a different room : I was always alone in a 3 bunkbeds room (spacious enough) with a/c for a bargain price of 13 usd. per night ! Couples can stay alone in one room for 25 usd. a night. 3 showers, 3 toilets (clean), big kitchen very well equipped, good wifi, big terrace with tables, garden in the back with 2 big tables (and a cage with, unfortunately, 4 green parrots), garden at the entrance with one table. Owners very kind and meeting your requests. What else ? Enjoy your perfect sleep ! It's on the Av. E between calle 5 and 6, just in front of the entrance of the School (Colegio) Rogelio, going to the airport. It's just 3 minutes walk to the park.…
Had a really nice stay in this hostel- it's not going to rock anyone's world in terms of the rooms but the owner is really nice and helpful, the kitchen is well equipped and big enough so that two of you can cook at the same time and the roof top area is sweet, nice place to have drinks or to eat up there. Would definitely recommend!
I recently moved away from Bocas spending my last week at Casa del Toro. Not a hostel veteran, I didn't know what to expect. What I got was a clean bed, a clean bathrrom and shower, a hot water shower, an air conditioned dorm, and an attentive owner. Everything was superb. Thanks, Brad.
I chose this hostel because of Bradford and stayed because of Bradford: he's a gentle, North Carolina giant who runs a quiet, clean establishment that's a 5 minute walk from all the vacation in Bocas Town. I read about his commitment to helping customers find exactly what they need EVEN if it's not his hostel. Unfortunately there was a water crisis in the islands when we stayed, so we were all working together to conserve (ie.: only flushing for Number 2 and showering once a day). But Brad handled it beautifully, as well as offering to let us hang out longer if we accidentally missed our early morning shuttle home. If you want honest, kind advice that's near the party but not sleeping with it, stay here.
