After 35 years of service in Machupicchu Town, Gringo Bill's has become one of the best choices for mid-range tourist. We have been working non-stop to improve our small family owned business to provide our guest with a special place in an "out-of-the-ordinary" type of hotel in Machupicchu Town. We thank all those who have commented on our hotel and we are taking any bad comments to good use to help us prepare much better. Thank you kindly, Lawrence Kaiser

We booked this hotel for 1 night. we came with our two dogs which in advance they told us they would charge 20$ each. they are very well behaved, clean and quiet chihuahuas. we agreed and it was ok, even though we still find this very expensive. the staff was very nice and let us leave our bags and dogs in a spare room while we went to machu pichu. We had two very big issues during our stay. First they did not inform us in advance that the whole hotel is under construction and the pool and jacuzzi are used for concrete mixing. They were the whole reason we chose this hotel, we are very unhappy with that. they didn't offer us any refund and only let us know about this situation AFTER we paid for the room. At one point a bucket of concrete even poured from the roof right onto us, standing in front of the hotel. they didn't offer any help, we had to ask for a cloth to wipe the concrete from our clothes. even though they apologized we were very annoyed for our clothes are now ruined. The other issue is that due to a power out we couldn't have our included dinner. they did not offer any solution except to wait a half hour because electricity might return. it didn't (all night long) which of course is not their fault but still we think they should have offered a solution. we had to ask about it at the end of our stay and got a refund of 10$ each. even though the room is nice, the staff is friendly and the location good we had a really bad experience with this hotel and i am very disappointed, since it was very expensive. other things you should know: you have to pay for drinks extra during lunch and dinner (even if you booked a full meal plan). check out is at 10 (no late check out possible) although they can store your things.

Gringo Bill’s is not a five star hotel, but it is a cool, comfortable and unique place to stay in Machu Picchu pueblo. We had a family room (2 adults, 2 teenagers) which had a large main room with a double and a single bed, and a cool loft with a double bed. There were no damp issues as suggested in other reviews. We stayed for 3 nights. It was very comfortable for 4 people. The main room had a covered balcony with a great view over the town. We even saw a hummingbird from the balcony one afternoon. Basically, the hotel snakes up the side of the mountain with rooms branching off at the various levels. Breakfast was included in the room rate and offered a good range of fruits and toast as well as some other hot food and eggs to order. The hotel is located close to the Plaza de Armas and many nearby restaurants as well as the bus station for Machu Picchu. There is a small pool which we did not try as it was quite cold when we were there. There is also a jacuzzi at an extra charge (it was not filled when we were there). The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Planning to stay up at Aguas Calientes was absolutely the best idea with what it takes to get there, explore a bit of the area and appreciate Machu Picchu in all its beauty without being rushed. The hotel had a Representitive at the train station waiting for us to escort and help bring our bags over. They expedited our check in and even extended a small upgrade of the room that was not even expected at all. The room was beautiful with an astonishing view of the area. The breakfast was also very amazing offered buffet style and included in the room purchase. The staff was very accommodating and attentive as well. Even at check out they offered to bring all our bags to the train station in time to get our train so we could enjoy the morning and day at the markets walking around. Great stay great company great hospitality Thank you so much gringo bills team

It's like they took a bunch of leftover parts and stuck them together to make Gringo Bill's. Our "suite" was really a room with a porch-made-into-a-room, so you had to walk through the other person's room to get to the bathroom. Considering the chaotic nature of Aguas Calientes - a place devoted entirely to serving the tourists visiting Machu Picchu - it was relatively quiet. Maybe that was because we were practically on the roof. But they are friendly, accommodating and helpful. The hot water works, although it also leaks and sprays everywhere. Breakfast is fine. We don't know what the other places in town are like, but I would stay there again.
