Layana Resort & Spa is a tranquil beachfront haven that is highly praised for its secluded yet convenient location, with stunning sunsets adding to the allure. The resort's amenities, including pristine pools and beaches, are widely celebrated, as is the attentive service and a variety of dining and relaxation options, all deemed to provide excellent value.
While the rooms are generally acclaimed for their comfort and luxury, a few guests have experienced issues prompting room changes. The inviting atmosphere and impeccable cleanliness receive consistent commendation, and the staff's warm hospitality is often highlighted as a standout feature.

Hotel's Favourite
We just finished a 2 week stay at Layana Resort. Would give 6* if possible
Originally we had planned to stay only one week. After having moved to another hotel in the region we canceled the new hotel and returned to Layana (even though we did not get any refund for 4 days from the other hotel). Layana was worth it!! Why:
+ Very nice hotel with 3 infinity pools overlooking the sea
+ Whole hotel team with outstanding service orientation (reception, pool, restaurant, , room service, activities teams). Many team members have been working for Layana for 5-10 + years. Such a stable service team will be very hard to find at most other hotels. Returning guests felt like being with old friends.
+ Very nice room, spacious and clean bathroom with lots of amenities, comfortable bed, outstanding room service (after breakfast the room was always already back in perfect shape, daily turn down service every evening)
+ Extras: Complimentary pick up service at Krabi airport (van and/or speedboat if weather conditions allow), permanent high quality service at the pool and beach, twice a week relaxed live music in the evening, daily 2x2hr happy hour
+ Restaurant: Delicious breakfast buffet with western and Thai delicacies, during the day tasty meal & drink selection at the pool/beach, great a la carte dinner with daily theme specials. Tables overlooking the beach, tasty drink and wine selection at reasonable prices.
+ Activities: Professionally equipped gym, nice spa, free bicycles, hobie cat sailing, kayak, SUP, skimboards. Choose from different tour options (extra costs will apply) e.g. snorkeling, sundowner boat trips,…
+ Sunsets overlooking the beach are priceless
We will be glad to return to Layana - by the way as many others do. We met many guests who have stayed at Layana 5-10-15 times. That is a strong sign of long term superior quality

If you are looking for somewhere peaceful then this is the place. The resort is on a small scale so there are not too many people around. They have two large pools; one that touches the beach which is normally full and another about 50 metres behind which is the Quiet pool. The Gym is pretty impressive. The service is very good and the food is of a high standard too. They have their own luxury boat that transfers you to the resort from the mainland. The rooms are all of a high standard with luxury bathrooms and large roof balconies shaded by tropical foliage. The prices of the food and especially the drinks are pretty high but that seems to be the same for all hotels of this standard on the islands in Thailand. This resort sits on a beach which is about a mile long, so if you want to dine at some of the local restaurants there are plenty near by, we found the food was a bit hit and miss at these places, its a lot cheaper and of course but not to the same standard of the hotel, but the drinks are around two thirds cheaper. The nice thing about the beach is that it is kept clean. If you want to do some laundry then on the main road at the front of the hotel is a small mini market that sells drinks and snacks and will wash your stuff for 40 Baht per kilo. The only down side of Ko Lanta is the side roads to the beach are just rubbish tips. I can't understand why all the businesses don't get together and clean up the island? After all Tourism must be their main income? You would think that they would want people to come back and recommend the area? Personally, I don't want to go to places that have stinking rubbish and plastic everywhere. The Layana say they are trying to go 100% plastic free & hope to achieve it soon. One thing we were not happy with was on the day we arrived they used a fogging machine that distributed a pesticide in all the gardens? We came to Thailand to look at all the bugs and butterflies not kill them off. I came across the gardeners who had just destroyed a honey bees nest & were eating the honey, they said the bees were fine, but the next day I looked it was totally gone which was pretty disappointing. If we were going back to Thailand we would certainly go back to Layana Resort. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. We would like to than David the manager and Leila in reception who went out of their way to cater for our needs. One tip that is important is when you leave the island for the airport, make sure you take plenty of water and plenty of food with you. We ended up being dropped off at Krabi airport 4 hours before our flight. There was no water on the mini van that took us to the airport (important when its stinking hot) and the standard of food and drink at the airport is poor to say the least. What little they do have is over priced. In the departure lounge the only hot food we could get was Pot Noodles, so we gave that a miss. The toilets are in a sorry state with no soap in either the Mens or the Ladies. The duty free shop in the airport has a good selection if you don't mind paying double the prices that you would on the high street at home?

We arrived at the Layana by boat directly on to the beach and we're greeted by the very pleasant staff, the check in was very quick and efficient.
The rooms are very well kept as is all of this resort, we were greeted every morning walking to breakfast by very happy smiling groundsman clearing leaves and maintaining the property.
They are are very aware of maintaining a pleasant and healthy environment by making sure pest elimination (mosquitos) is regularly carried out.
They make a great effort for a wonderful Christmas celebration and meal, having travelled over the Christmas holidays for 20 years I can honestly say this hotel exceeded my expectations.
The restaurant assistant manager Kug is always happy helpful and well informed,
breakfast was always unhurried and enjoy to sit and look out over the beach and listen to the waves there was always a nice section of fresh fruits, hot and cold food stations
Another staff member we were particularly impressed with ( can't remember her name Sorry) worked very hard every day making sure you had a sunbed and towels and advising on the trips run by the hotel.
The day trip we took from the hotel was absolutely perfect in every way we had a fabulous day seeing the monkeys in the mangroves and onto amazing caves and on to a lovely Island for a picnic lunch which consisted on rice, fish, chicken fresh fruits and and dessert with plenty to drink.
I would recommend this hotel in fact we are looking at returning with friends and family for Christmas again this year!

We decided to try this hotel after many stays in Khao Lak at both the Ramada and Casa de la Flora. Our reason for switching from Khao Lak was mainly driven by the severe beach erosion there meaning that it is impossible to walk along the beach except at low tide. I consulted with the Deputy General Manager, David, before booking and he assured me that no such problem affected the beaches on Ko Lanta, hence I reserved an Ocean villa for 10 nights. The first highlight was the speedboat transfer which totally exceeded our expectations. On arrival we were delighted to see the beautiful bay on which the Layana is situated, the beautiful sandy beach and (for Thailand) extremely calm sea. Our room was huge, around 100 sqm, with spacious bedroom and bathroom on the upper level with plenty of storage space. On the ground floor was an open kitchenette and lounging area plus another enormous bathroom with freestanding bath. Personally we would have preferred an open air bathroom (as implied by the room description on the website!) but it may appeal to some guests, especially in the rainy season.
Outside was a covered veranda with comfortable lounging furniture which was perfect for pre dinner drinks. This experience was only marred by the “entertainment “ most evenings which consisted of a couple of out of tune singers basically going through the same set night after night. I should say that we are not entertainment people in any case (and loved the lack of music during the day) but if entertainment is felt necessary it would be nice to have some variety!
The resort is beautifully maintained with lovely grounds. Our room had its own designated sun beds overlooking the sea, similar to the system in the Maldives, and this was for us a must as it meant you had more space between beds and it was quieter (away from the main pool). We were not informed about this on check-in which was a pity as we only discovered “our” beds on the third day! Another positive was the unlimited supply of complimentary iced drinking water provided by the very friendly pool attendants. We also enjoyed several spa treatments which were lovely. We did not eat in the resort except for breakfast which we found very good with enough choice and excellent standards of hygiene followed by the staff.
We ate at the two beach restaurants close to the Layana and had a couple of trips into Saladan where we very much enjoyed the Fat Pig.
In summary we had a fantastic stay here and returned home feeling relaxed and refreshed. We will definitely return.

We booked Layana as not many other places were available at that time, but I am so glad we ended up there!
The resort is beautiful, and carefully curated by the resort team. It is located right by the sea, and offers a prime seat to breathtaking sunsets.
The highlight, above anything else, was the staff: the Layana team has been incredible throughout our 2 weeks stay. They offered advice, were always available for questions, but most of all they have been incredibly kind and warm hosts.
I was even given a bag full of fresh aloe vera the one day I was silly enough to get a sunburn.
The restaurant is also situated by the beach (but they also have an indoor room for bad weather season), and the food served makes it difficult to go anywhere else. The breakfast is copious and the fresh fruits are to die for!
The SPA facilities set a relaxing tone as soon as you step in, with a tea and a cold towel offered while you wait. We tried a few of the services on offer, and I definitely recommend their signature massage, and facial combo. I almost fell asleep as it was very soothing.
Don't forget to look into their tours to nearby islands, as they require a minimum amount of sign ups to happen. Some of them might overlap in some activities (but I loved seeing the monkeys twice in a day).
Our favourite was the snorkeling trip to Koh Rok and Raa, while going to Phi Phi was our least favourite due to how crowded it is. It does include swimming with reef sharks, and that was definitely a highlight and worth the tour.
I don't know what else to add, except for thank you and hope we will be back soon :)

With a 5 star rating resort, everything was over expected.
the staffs were very helpful
we asked for ice and the next day they came knocking whether we needed ice again without even asking
we stay in the room the whole day and the house keeping can knocking whether they can clean the room and we sat on the bed and let them clean the room. The only thing that wasnt tidy was the bed. Later on we went to have dinner at the resort and came back noticing they came back to redo our bed. This made our stay at Krabi most memorable.
In additional, with the covid situation the resort provided a hand sanitizer kit to carry around and in the bathroom showing that they really care about their guests. I had a sunburn but with the coconut body lotion, it helped me ease the pain really well.
The frontdesk was so helpful and staffs here can speak fluent English. Even though we were Thai but we can speak English with the staffs that cant speak Thai.
The resort is peaceful and private, everything you need is in the resort. The beach was private and clean. Alot of activities provided but the resort.
Most of the restaurant outside the resort was closed due to covid, so I would recommend dining at the resort for a reasonable 5 star price.
This would be a place to revisit again for sure if I had to come to Krabi again.

We visited the Layana resort in February / March. We had been planning the trip for some time as we would be spending my partners significant birthday there, so naturally we were expecting high standards. From the moment we were met at Krabi airport we knew this would be a holiday to remember. We chose to take the speedboat option and I would have to say that this is really the only way you should arrive at this property, it was fantastic and so much fun arriving on the beach. Once we got off the boat we were taken to the bar area and checked in. Although we arrived around lunch time , our room was already prepared for us. We had booked a garden villa, and albeit an entry level room, it was really lovely and comfortable. One tip though would be to ask for a mattress topper if you like a softer bed, we found the beds to be a little hard for our liking, but that is just a personal choice.
It has been said many time before that the staff make this property and it is so true, each an everyone of them do everything possible to make your holiday fantastic. We had an unfortunate incident where there was a water leak in our room, we went out for dinner and when we returned you would not have know anything had been wrong. The house keeping staff are the unsung heroes, and often never recognised for their hard work. Thank you ladies!
We chose to spend a lot of our time at the wellness pool. The pool itself was extremely clean, and there was a lovely relaxing ambience around it, and the bird noises just added to the idyllic setting. I guess the only quibble I would have is the pool showers are really in need of a bit of maintenance.
The food at the hotel is really good, but a bit on the pricey side, however very much in line with other luxury resorts.
We would ask the hotel reception to get us a taxi into Saladan and it was really cheap with a fixed price of 100 baht.
All in all I would highly recommend this hotel, its relaxing and you get what you pay for. It will be my destination of choice in Lanta.
I hope to see you all again next year.

What an oasis!! Staying at the Layana Resort was a truly amazing experience. My wife and I were so refreshed by how calm it is there, and the staff were very kind and accommodating. I would absolutely recommend the The Sunset Boat Cruise; the food and the views were incredible, and seeing the monkeys was one of the highlights of our entire trip! The Linger Longer spa was honestly the nicest I have seen all over Thailand, and I told my wife as I was getting up "I think that was the most relaxed I have honestly ever been." One evening, we did the Moonlight Dinner on the beach there, under the stars, and the romantic setting would be hard to top! All in all, our time at Layana was really special, and I would absolutely come stay again.

Where ever you are in the world, and now international travel is resuming, if you are thinking about visiting Thailand then include a stay on the beautiful island of Koh Lanta and book into this amazing hotel. The Layana resort and Spa is perfection - from the minute you arrive until checkout, your experience will become a treasured memory. This wasn’t our first visit but we were still marvelled at the friendliness, the professionalism and the dedication of the staff.
What makes Layana so good is the attention to detail in every department be it the front desk, the restaurant or housekeeping. Sit by the pool and iced water appears as if by magic! Need something for your room and housekeeping are there almost before you’ve put the phone down.
All rooms are fully equipped with face masks and hand sanitizer and the hotel fully complies with Covid precautions. All the necessary toiletries are provided in the bathroom and most importantly, there is a very comfortable bed!
The restaurant overlooks the beach so the excellent range of food available can be enjoyed with the sounds of the sea. Breakfast is usually a la carte and both Thai and European foods are available. Other meals can be selected from the interesting menu and the very tasty dishes are beautifully presented. There is an excellent wine list.
I could write so much more but go and experience Layana for yourselves. You will not be disappointed.
Thanks to everyone for making our stay so memorable.
We will return!

We stayed here during the pandemic, however we felt that management made sure to keep to their high standards no matter what. We were blown away by the beautiful layout and great service. The team is so well trained and professional.
Khun Noona went another and beyond to make sure we are happy. We were shopping for hotel on the island without reservation, and tour was the first we saw, however we made our way back simply Because of her genuine hospitality. I was amazed to learn she was a trainee, very professional! The lady at the dinner ( apologies, I don’t recall the name) was great as well! The second we asked for two champagne glasses to take away to drink our own champagne in the room, she offered to set up an ice bucket - that’s for me - attention to details! Bravo!
Thank you!

Yes, there are lots of bars and restaurants a short walk up the beach. Also along the road outside the hotel. Plus a short ride in a tub tub will take you to even more. This is why we like Layana. Food at the hotel is excellent but you also have lots of other options.
Hi,
There are certain dishes only which are included in your room category half board.
Enjoy Layana
They are usually extra to the room rate but check the Layana website for special offers. You could be lucky!
The buffet BBQ was not cheap but was nice .. there are plenty of places to eat outside of the hotel
