My friend and I needed a getaway, she had stayed at the hotel previously, this was my first stay. Quiet and relaxing with a beautiful pool and air conditioned rooms. Food was excellent. The owners and staff made our stay memorable, I’ll be back!
We loved staying at this hotel with a lovely garden and a fabulous pool! The food was delicious and very tasty. The owners and the staff very friendly and helpful. Though not on the beach( one minute`s walk), we could still hear the soothing sounds of the waves! A few minutes walk from the noisier resorts in the centre, it felt very peaceful. The rooms are a bit dated and I missed not having hot water in the shower, but all the good things made up for it!
This hotel was an excellent location to relax and enjoy the Pacific and local surroundings after being a part of a Habitat for Humanity one week build in Solola. It has to be the best kept secret of the area; wonderful, caring and helpful hosts (Stig & Violeta), friendly staff, beautiful grounds complete with a terrific swimming pool, and a restaurant with a wonderful menu of home made delicious meals (mostly created by Violeta) to satisfy all tastes. It is located across the mostly unused road from the ocean and is only a short 3 minute walk to the beautiful black sand beach which stretches for miles; it is very quiet little environment of it's own within the town community. They accommodated eight members of our team who decided to come for four days and made us feel very welcome and at home (away from home). Max from Canada…
This hotel was advised to us by adventurous friends, we wanted to try while we rather got used to the big mundane hotels, we loved both the welcome and the place, it is a small oasis of peace with charming people, we highly recommend it, it is clean, low prices and everything is great
I just love this place! First, let me talk about the human side of things, The hosts, Violeta and Stig are wonderful caring people that really make the place. They really took great care of me. The staff were polite, available and quick to serve. My room was on 1st floor facing the pool, had A/C, was clean, had a mosquito net and they would clean it while I had my breakfast, talk about being efficient. Although there is no hot water, I knew that if I showered in the afternoon, the water was warmer. This is an ideal place for a woman traveling alone as they have a restaurant on site so no need to go out at night for dinner. Many choices on the menu, I had different things and everything was great. The breakfast is included with several choices available. What I really appreciate is that they use purified water for the ice and cooking so you can even eat salads without the risk of getting sick. I really loved their lemonade. I miss it already! The grounds are well maintained with lovely plants and flowers. There are hammocks placed in quiet areas so you can hop in and relax. The best part is the pool. Large, clean and warm water just the way I like it. There is also a kiddie pool and another one near the restaurant but I didn’t use those ones. They are situated just across the street from the ocean, a 3 minute walk to the beach. It can get very hot (32-35 C) so I chose to walk along every morning and this usually before 8AM. The more I think about it, more I really want to return next year and make it a “hat trick”… 3 years in a row! Thank you very much Violeta and Stig for your attention and kindness, till we meet again. Carole from Canada.…
This hotel quiet clean and beautiful has a great staff and the owners are great but the swimming pool has to be the best in all of monterrico large clean warm and with lovely music and the plants and flowers around the pool even have humming birds great place the ocean is across the street a 2 minute walk also has good food and drinks prices are good
We enjoyed our stay here. We are visiting family in Guatemala and come from the states. For me it’s not about the hotel room it self but it’s about the pool, gardens, and places to sit and relax. Great little spot. Saw lizards, birds, and lots of different flowers. Beautiful spot. Food was great lots to choose from. Great coffee too. Defiantly enjoyed my stay here.
Sorry....i don't like giving bad reviews. But here is why. I don't want people sitting in the restaurant smoking (owners.) The linens were worn. My pillow was terrible. I have uploaded a picture. I crunched it up and could hold it in one hand in a tight ball. Pool filter was not on all day (I assume to save electricity) and there was a suntan oil slick on top. No hot water (and maybe that is common but that should be clear before you check in. Water was barely warm for a shower) No drinking water except bottles to purchase. One full size bed and one twin. Slept lousy. Balcony overlooked an empty lot out back. I thought it might face the ocean or even the pool. Nope. The place just wasn't worth the money. The cost wasn't cheap (relatively speaking for Monterico) but they NEED to take some of their revenue and update the beds and linens and pillows because the #1 reason for a hotel room is to SLEEP.…
This place ticked all the boxes for us - large pool surrounded by a beautiful garden. Air conditioning and wi fi both worked well. The food was good - I loved the Chicken Quesadilla. The staff were super friendly and efficient. The owners went out of their way to ensure that we had a good time. We loved the morning trip to the mangrove lagoon that they set up. Great place to stay in Monterrico.
We have been to Monterrico several times and wanted a step up from the budget hotels we stayed before. We made a good choice! The owners of the hotel made us feel welcome and at home from the moment we stepped out of our car and were greeted by name. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Love the tropical garden and the large pool area. We came on a Monday and Tuesday and found that the hotel restaurant is a cozy and tasty place to have dinner when mostly everything else in the village is closed on those weeknight evenings. Definitely recomendable!
