The guesthouse "CASA BABILONIA" is situated in the beautiful district Leme in the south of Rio de Janeiro. Due to its location on the way up to the Favela Babilonia, our guest house provides an exceptional ocean view. The Ladeira (way, street) at which our guesthouse is to be found at number 42, carries the name of the famous composer and samba musician Ary Barroso. His former house is well-preserved and just around the corner. For our guests who are simply enjoying their vacation by relaxing and exploring Rio we provide well furnished rooms, all with bathroom and air condition. Our patio, covering the whole guest house, is a beautiful place to meet and relax. A priority of "CASA BABILONIA" is music. We provide spaces for music workshops, advanced trainings and practice. It is further possible to offer or visit workshops, on how to build instruments like Berimbaus or other small Brasilian instruments. The famous beach of Copacabana is accessible within 10 minutes by walking. WE SPEAK FLUENTLY PORTUGUESE, ENGLISH, GERMAN, FRENCH AND SPANISH Visit Rio de Janeiro and be our guest in "CASA BABILONIA" the guest house with a family environment and small prices.

We started our trip through Brasil in this charming guest house with 3 nights. The owner couple (she is swiss origin, he's brazilian) is very friendly and helpful. They offer delicious home made bakery to breakfast and can give you lots of advices about where and how to go in Rio. There's an ATM in walking distance, too. Also you can walk easily to Copacabana beach. You can see a lovely panorama from the roof top terrace, too. We will come back for sure.

A bit late for the review, but I have to say that I absolutely loved the location with a very short downhill walk to the North End of Copacabana Beach and my festivities with overland travelling companions on the beach on NY Eve. The hosts Dario & sabina were wonderfully helpful with all my questions and the room was just perfect with the air-conditioning in my lovely colourful room was a welcome relief from the hot humid temperatures outside; along with a lovely ensuite opposite my room that felt like my own. Breakfast was wonderful with the opportunity to meet fellow world travellers. Rio seems to shut down on New Years Day so did not have much time see as much of it as I would have liked, but at least I got Christ the Redeemer Statue, Sugarloaf, Copacabana and Leme Beaches. I thoroughly recommend Casa Babilonia for solo travellers like me.

This was a wonderful find. The bedrooms were clean and the bathroom a modern clean en-suite. Perfectly located, 5 minute walk to the beach and close to Copacabana too! Breakfast was yummy, freshly baked breads with an assortment of cheeses, meats, jellies and a new homemade smoothie everyday too! With a fridge you can purchase water and other drink refreshments from. Dario and Sabina were super friendly and always happy to lend some advice if needed or umbrellas (It rained for our entire stay). Situated in a friendly pacified favella this would be a great place to stay whilst in Rio. Just be warned, walking back up to the Hostel can make your legs ache, it's a steep hill. Views from the terrace make this very worth it though (and the homemade bread).

We really enjoyed staying at Casa Babilonia. Dario & Sabina really made us feel at home, making us delicious breakfast every morning and giving us nice (insider) tips. The apartment(s) are light, decorated with beautiful paintings, very spacious and clean. The Rooftoop with a gorgeous view over Copacabana is the highlight of Casa Babilonia! It is located near the Beach (5min. by foot) and just 45 min. to the City Centre by Metro. We would love to stay there again the next time, when we are in Rio.

Nice hostel for a stay at the beach! Friendly staff, clean rooms and good breakfast. Two small points of criticism: The wifi connection was not always working and it would be good though if payments could be made with credit cards instead of cash only.
