Good place to meet new friends! This hostel has a very cozy feel. Excellent staff! One block walk to the Gloria Metro station and a short walk to bars and clubs in Lapa. Optional breakfast and laundry service. Good AC in rooms.
The staff: the loveliest people you can imagine, friendly, genuine and always happy to help and accommodate The location: this isn’t by the beach instead it’s in the heart of central rio close to the going out district of Lapa, the Gloria Sunday market is literally 20 steps away, and also a short walk to Santa Theresa with all its artisanal bars, coffee shops and restaurants. It’s also less than 1 min to the metro station so you can get to the beach in ~20min. The hostel: the decor is really nice with cool art and the feel is very cosy/very homey. The dorms are clean as you would expect from a good hostel and everything works fine. Breakfast is basic but hey it’s a free bonus!
I stayed at this hostel in the 2 month after Brazil reopened its doors to tourism. There were few people there but of the people that were there, I enjoyed spending my time with them. The place is very relaxed and all the things that you need are in this hostel. Everyone was friendly and helpful to me. I felt right at home. The place is also clean.
Incredible hostel. Excellent staff & location. The positivity, helpfulness, and knowledge of the area by the staff is wonderful. Right near Metro, fabulous places to walk, and vibrant travelers 🧳 staying there. You can definitely meet like minded people if you want or do the solo thing~ Highly recommend. Staying here really enhanced my Rio experience.
This was truly an amazing hostel. The entire staff was great and, in particular, Juliana was amazing. It’s a relatively small hostel so everyone gets to know everyone. That also means that the small size means that the guest dictate the culture / atmosphere and it can easily fluctuate from wild party to very calm and low key. I usually never eat breakfast when staying at a hostel, but the breakfast spread here put a restaurant to shame - they had French toast or pancakes home made every morning that were incredible, with coffee, fruit, etc. I was staying there for New Years and they did a great job going above expectations for that - they provided everyone with a gift bag on check-in, with a metro card, sparkler, necklace, etc. It was a really nice touch. The rooms were comfortable - I stayed in a private room for a few nights (which was very comfortable and clean) and a dorm bed. The dorms are good - they all have ample storage with locks, outlets, bed lights, etc. The only challenge with the dorm beds is that they are 3 levels high so the top bunk is VERY high up and you will need to climb up a few flights of stairs (not the best if you’re afraid of heights - or coming home drunk). The location is good, as it’s very convenient to the Metro, and not far from Lapa, but there are other hostels in Rio with better locations, if you’re looking to specifically be in Lapa or Copacabana. That said, to get around the city, the metro makes everything easy so being nearby to their is great. The hostel claims to host a bunch of activities, but in reality they simply help connect you to other providers for walking tours, hang gliding, boat trips, etc. In reality any “hostel organized” event, such as bar nights, were pretty poorly organized and there was no-one from the hostel that took real leadership in directing guest to a specific bar or leading the way. Also, the “bar” in the hostel leaves a bit to be desired - it’s really just one guy making caipirinhas. They’re delicious and affordable, but take a really long time to get and it’s not the best system or overall atmosphere. All in all, I’d absolutely stay here again, but there are obvious areas of improvement for the hostel to get from great to incredible.…
