I ended up staying there because there was really no other choices affordable at World Cup time. But I do not recommend this place because - Area is very dodgy. Even during the day, you probably shouldn't walk (also Brazilian friend told me this is a poor neighbourhood) - Staff do not speak English - Very basic facility. Hardly any amenity (bring your own soap, shampoo etc) Thank god, at least free wifi worked well. (When I arrived, i feared that it may not have wifi from the look and feel of the place...) The only thing it was not bad was that they clean the rooms properly. Also people seemed nice, though communication wasn't really possible because nobody spoke English The only positives were that this place was closer than the main tourists areas to the football stadium as well as to the airport.…
The only hotel available Feb 9, 2013 during Carnival for $155 and rated 3 stars. Sign over the mini check-in desk printed in Portugese, rental rates by the hour. Although clean the room had an elevated bed with sponge mattress covered in plastic. The TV featured very explicit adult movies. Bed covering was a sheet wrapped in plastic wrap. The only English word understood by the desk staff was TAXI. Every other request did not translate. We definately would not leave the room after dark. Our one night stay was definately "an experience" we hope to never repeat. A short cab ride took us to our cruise ship and safety.
I was there fot rio+20 and couldnt find another hotel during the conference. Was a terrible experience. They rent the hotel hourly. No breakfast place, towels smell very bad. Staff dont speak english. Nothing was good. Never try. ..............
