If you are ready to get stuck in a hostel, don't hesitate to stay here, in Aquarela. This is what happened to me. First you book only for few nights, then bumm, you've spent a month in the hostel and you didn't even notice. I don't think it's to much to expect from a hostel to be clean and well equipped. But the Aquarela hostel can provide much more than the basic expectations. Few things: quick internet, cool rooftop bar and dance night every week, small gym, the rooftop is the best spot to watch the sunrise and the sunset, walking tours with a tour guide, good location, fresh fruits plus homemade cakes and bread for the breakfast, quiet and seperated working space, laundry service, colorful and happy interior, comfy beds with your own privacy, etc. There is one thing that makes this hostel special: the owners and the people who work there. It's not just a job for them. From the beginning you can feel and experience this by their kindness, their smiles and their helpfulness. And why is it so easy to get stuck here? Because the staff is not just a few people working together, they are a team, a family together and you want to be part of that family ❤️💙

Tracing Brazil during the pandemic and a friend recommended this hostel. It’s beautiful, you can see so much from the roof. It’s definitely not a party hostel it’s got a low key vibe and the best shared dorm I’ve ever seen. Seriously they were built into the wall with little cubbies and hooks. The tours were great too. I did tour of Centro and Pedra de Gavea. David explained everything about the history. For Gavea I’m so glad I went with him. I seriously would have gotten lost and he was much cheaper than what a hotel would cost. Ask him anything about the area, the man knows everyone.

I searched for a long time when looking for a place to stay in Rio. So many choices, different locations, etc. Decided to give Aquarela do Leme a shot and could not be happier about my choice! Everything is first class and top shelf. Thibaut and Marielle are hands on owners and are always around to help with questions, suggestions, or give advice. They allow you to be part of their family while you are there and this feeling resonates throughout the establishment. The area is very safe, the locals are welcoming to tourists, the rooms are clean, the included breakfast is tasty, the staff and volunteers that help are great! A very short walk to the beaches as well. There is a tour guide on the premises named David that you will find there and he offers a tremendous hiking opportunity in Pedra de Gavea. A once in a lifetime experience! And there is also a chef onsite named Philip who creates some fabulous dishes and even made special vegan dishes for me. A definite highlight of my trip to Brazil!!
