#32 of 1 069 Speciality lodging in Rio de Janeiro
Founded in 2010 Books Hostel is where it all began. Here you will find all the things in Rio you weren’t looking for. Christ, Sugar loaf and beach are all just traveller’s homework in Rio. At Books you can also experience genuine fun; dangerous caipirinhas, more hats than you can count, crazy staff, and all by a shirtless man wearing a captain hat and his two friends who love to host as well.

I stayed at Books for a week over Carnival and it made my experience! The staff were super helpful helping you understand where to go for the best blocos day or night. Great atmosphere, everyone feels like best friends right away. Rooms are pretty basic, but you shouldn’t stay at Books if you just want to sleep. One of the best included breakfasts I’ve ever had. Would stay again if I was looking to party again.

Hola hostel is a staple for all travelers in Rio. Great vibe, loads of activities and friendly staff. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area, just make sure you have a room with air con or a fan as it gets quite hot. Felipe is a great host who looks after his guests and has all the tips for enjoying Rio.

If partying is what you're in to then this is the place for you! Even if you're not so keen on the nightlife, then the staff enforce a quiet time after 11pm. The namesake of the place is due to a whole wall that is littered with hundreds of books that are all free with the exchange of your own. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the place is generally clean. It could do with a touch up here and there, but it didn't feel dirty at all. The breakfast included is of a great quality and is of a buffet style. The hostel is in a prime location, with Lapa just a few minutes walk away.

This was my first stay at Books and after it was recommended to me by everyone I knew I had to see what all the fuss was about. Anyone that has been will tell you the facilities are basic but it's the first class atmosphere that you get at Books that makes it so special. Felipe is an absolute saint and all the staff are fantastic. In my opinion there is no where else to stay in Rio! xxxx

Books is by far the best hostel I’ve stayed in. Felipe and all the staff are always on hand to help and give the best party. Somewhere you can feel at home and make the best memories. Let’s be honest, anywhere you can get Yorkshire tea in South America is a winner in my book.
