I stayed here for five nights whilst working in Ankara. My room was a little dated but this is my only criticism of the hotel. The room was clean and had everything I needed, including plenty of water which was restocked daily. The food in the restaurant was fine for breakfast and other meals although the central location means that there are plenty of restaurants near by. The staff were helpful and I would stay again.
It used to be in the past a "Barcelo hotel" and at least it was safe. Now the rooms are very antiquated and dirty. Breakfast also have lower quality and the gym is not working at all. And the worst thing is the service, they don´t speak english at all so if you have any issue you are lost. In my case, some girl coming from the street was able to acces to my room with the "security" guy asking me about a money debt. Of course they were wrong, but as they couldn´t speak any word in english it was a horrible situation, security trust a unknown girl more than a customer. After about 10 minutes they left my room without give a single explanation. Please, don´t come to this hotel if you don´t want to be in a nightmare.
when we say old people smell, it is true, the hotel was smell like old people (no offense) but this is the truth. The hotel is actually nice from the outside, but when walk into the room, it was like in Resident Evil movie so dark and gloomy. The room was outdated, smell of urine and cigarette. The bathroom shower was moldy and have like water dripping from the ceiling. The staff was not very friendly. The good this is only surrounding area there are a lot of food options, and across of Migros (Supermarket like Carrefour type).
The hotel is in the city centre and very near the metro station. The stuff is very kind but there are some issues about cleaning. Because the room wasnt clean enough. Also the bed wasnt so comfortable especially for a person having trouble with backpain.
Business trip, 2 night stay. Arrived late, well 23:00. Was starving after long day traveling but restaurant and bar closed, only room service. Reception had limited English, porter had better English. Was escorted to my room through dark corridors. Room was small, basic and musty. Shower, no bath. Everything there, tea/coffee, bottled water, shampoo, etc and plenty of hot water. TV has 10 channels, all Turkish, no English. Risked a club sandwich and glass of white. It filled a gap and not expensive, this is Turkey. Breakfast is buffet but Turkey style. Cold meats, Turkish porridge, breads. No hot options, few Euro options. Good hot coffee. After day at work, went for meal in restaurant. 2 restaurants but only 1 open on ground floor. Menu is ok, prices again cheap. Find your own table despite several waiters. Smoked salmon salad to start, burger for mains. There was a steak or fish option but to hard to find good fish or steak in Turkey so played it safe. Plenty of salmon in a tasty salad, but burger arrived just as I started. Had to abandon starter as burger going cold so picked out the salmon. Burger chewy but I was hungry, sorry tummy! You use same cutlery for all meals. Oh! The maitre’d sat at table beside me on his smartphone for the duration. The waiter never questioned why I returned a half eaten salad and burger. Having said that, €4 for salad, €5 for burger. Is good exchange rate a valid excuse for bad food?? TO THE BAR??!??!?! Ehhhh, there is none. But there is a nice lobby and after much debate was able to get a waitress for a glass of wine. I won’t be returning, only here because Crown Plaza was fully booked. …
