We stayed 3 nights here. It is closed to the Kyoto Station so very convenient. The staff was friendly and the room has a small balcony and is clean. The rooms have interior opening doors to a opened atrium instead of a hallway. The room is small with a small sitting area. A little dark for me. They have happy hours and very good and reasonable priced restruant.

Great hotel conveniently located right by Kyoto Station. Free coffee and tea are available throughout the day, and you also get a welcome drink at night. Hotel restaurant was decent, too. But what really made the place stand out was the public baths—it was such a joy to be able to go downstairs each day and relax in the bath and sauna before bed. Also appreciated the no kids—made it a quiet and peaceful spot.

Booked total of 3 rooms in North wing for family of 6 adults. Hotel accommodated our request to have all 3 rooms on same level. We had nothing but the best from Sakura Terrace The Gallery Location is a short 3mins walk away from Kyoto Station It’s a breeze to get around to anywhere; be it by train, bus or on foot There’s 7-11 a minute walk away for late night snacks Free welcome drinks from 5 to 10pm Free laundry Free use for massage chairs Free hot drinks 24/7 Wide selection of local and international food for breakfast from 7 to 10am with indoor and outdoor seating During cold season best to pen down your room number and wait for restaurant staff to call your room when your table is ready Otherwise you can sit around a campfire with fleece blankets provided Friendly and helpful hotel staff especially front desk and restaurant Special thank you to Akiko-San from front desk for helping with baggage transfer from Sakura Terrace The Gallery to our hotel in Osaka Definitely will return when we are back in Kyoto

Lousy hotel staff spoiled the entire stay. Everything about the hotel was perfect including the close proximity to Kyoto station (5mins walk) and the amenities provided. Room wasn’t the biggest but adequate. However one hotel staff decided to spoil the stay but not being helpful & played ignorance to resolve a situation that I was caught in , decided he does not want to offend any guest but me , so he did nothing not even apologetic for not able to handle the situation right . I request minimum service from the hotel staff and this is what I got in the end , through out so many different hotels I stayed in. What make it worse, it happened in Japan, famous for top notch service.

Great place a short walk from Kyoto station. Hotel is modern and updated, no carpet on the floors in the rooms - yay! Double Superior room is spacious, you can move around without tripping in furniture or your suitcase! Bathroom is a standard size Japanese bathroom have never had one bigger. Staff friendly although not all speak English well so things do come across abrupt. Massage chairs and free tea and coffee in the lounge a big win.

I selected the hotel because it was 2 blocks from Kyoto station. Also, a pleasant surprise was on my way to the hotel was a 7-11. Nice. I enjoyed my stay here at The Gallery. It was like a cool hipster vibe. It was efficient and nice. The accommodations were neat, clean and I liked the bathroom amenities in the bathroom. The shower head had a lot of water pressure. I enjoyed my shower a lot. This young staff member, I forgot his name , but , he was from Texas and he was very helpful in telling us where he goes for fun restaurants. He was very nice. Best part is they offer a free drink every night. I had the Non alcoholic drink. Grape beer and it was so delicious. I will come back here again.

Stayed in the Deluxe Room located at North Wing, room size is much bigger compared to most standard hotel room in Japan. Hotel provides complimentary beverages and welcome drinks every night which is much appreciated. Hotel situated just 5mins walk from Kyoto station which is very convenient. Not all staffs are friendly which is a pity but overall a great stay for us.

Excellent value for money (~£85 a night including breakfast). Room size was good compared to other hotels in Japan. Welcome drink in the evenings was much appreciated. Hotel has a nice public bath facility which comes as standard with the rooms.

After travelling in Japan and staying in many tiny (but also very cheap) hotels we had a couple of nights here at the Sakura Terrace. It was a terrific place to stay. Rooms still small but approaching a more european size. Very well decorated and kitted out. Perfectly situated for those travelling by train by being about 100m from Kyoto station. Excellent breakfast, excellent service and a free drink from the bar each night and all for a little less than £100 a night. For those that know, this hotel reminded me of higher end Embassy Suites Hotels (without the lounge though). It was a fab place to stay and would come here again in the future if we had the chance.

As others have noted, this is a 3-star hotel at best. If we came back to Kyoto, we would not stay here again… we paid for the deluxe North wing king room. Pros: - super convenient location and walking distance to the Kyoto station for trains and buses (take the Hachiko central exit). We did day trips to Osaka and Nara so this was super convenient for us as well as buses around the city - free coffee, tea and water were a plus. We stayed in the North wing but the south wing had the iced coffee and water - free massage chairs - we used these almost everyday and they were so fun after long days of walking around in the heat - free nightly drinks Cons: - pics on the website are not representative of our suite which felt very dark and dated. The bathroom especially reminded me of an airplane or cruise ship bathroom. - cleaning - I had concerns about cleanliness of the room (our headboard had significant dust - see pics) and I found hair in the suite on the first day. Also, they don’t mention this in the hotel details but they do a full clean every 3rd day and have an “eco” clean every day other than the full clean. The eco clean is a light clean so your sheets aren’t changed etc. also on the day of a full clean, we came back to no tissues in the room so I had to go downstairs to request some - we were bitten up in Kyoto and some of the bites happened overnight in our room. We told the front door staff who gave us a spray to use (didn’t really work bc we got bitten that night) and she also gave me patches for some of the bigger bites, which were helpful. She seemed genuinely concerned - breakfast - don’t believe the pics, the breakfast wasn’t nearly as comprehensive and I don’t think worth the price, you’ll spend less for better quality at the konbini. - rooms - as other reviews noted, there’s not a lot of sound insulation so you hear noise from the hall and outside. Luckily we travel with a sound machine for sleep time Overall, 3 star hotel with some cool amenities but there are better places to stay.
