There was a large public bath, which helped me to relax. Although the room only had a shower. The breakfast had a wide variety of menu items and was delicious. The public bath could be accessed by card, so I felt relieved that security was well managed. There was also a coin laundry, which was nice. The hotel was well-constructed and we could not hear any noise from the other rooms. When I asked the receptionist about sightseeing, she looked into it for me and even printed out the timetable, which was very considerate. In the morning, people from other hotels came to eat breakfast.

For me, the only image I had of Kyoto before the Japan visit was the vermillion gates of Fushimi Inari & it was imperative I stay close to it. This was my rationale for going with this hotel.
Yes it is budget. Which in Japan means a small but impeccably clean room. No frills like a swimming pool or spa. It still has a free but basic breakfast served in the morning. The staff, like most of Japan spoke very little English, but they were really very helpful.
Tips:
- go for the breakfast. It is decent & filling
- the inari station on the JR line is a 10 min walk. It has good connectivity to Kyoto, so JR pass will be your friend
- no good restaurant in the area which has an english menu, so make sure you are full before returning to the hotel
- there is a nice canal that is enroute to the rail station from the hotel, make sure you walk around it
- this is a peaceful residential area with a school which is 2 mins walk. So good for observing the culture & normal life
- there is a big grocery store right after the railway crossing, good to grab snacks, water and cold sandwiches/breakfast. it closes at 9 pm
- there are local markets near the shrine across the station. wander around & you will not be disappointed
- and don't miss the fushimi inari shrine, it is beautiful and very colourful. not to mention soothing. There is a long walk uphill, so have good walking shoes
Kyoto is very different from Tokyo, and it is a good idea to stay away from the crowds that you will encounter in Tokyo and most of the tourist attractions.

This hotel is just a 5 min walk from the Fukakusa Station of the Keihan Line. We travelled from the Kansai Airport on the Kansai Thru Pass, which allowed us to travel on (almost) all privately-run railways and was quite convenient. It's in a quiet neighbourhood in Fushimi which is of walkable distance to the famous Fushimi Shrine.
The hotel room was not too big, which was typically Japanese, but had all amenities included- toothbrush, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, socket converters, etc. You could also rent a bike for 1,000 yen a day (not that cheap, but Kyoto is a very bikeable city and it'd be a waste not to bike it!)
For connection to Kyoto Station, you could take the bus "South 5" which stops directly in front of the hotel, but it comes hourly so you hv to time your trip carefully. Otherwise, you could also walk to the nearest metro station, Kuinabashi, which is just 15 mins away.
All in all, it is quite value for money. Recommendable.

Thank you for staying with us. Fushimi Inari shrine is the beautiful sightseeing place in Kyoto. I love it, too. There are rental cycle service in this hotel. From 9:00 to 19:00, you can rent standard bike 1000yen or high class bike 1300yen. They are useful and good for health! There are many buses and cars in Kyoto city road, you may run fast at the congested street. We sell city bus ticket 500yen, city bus and subway 1day ticket 1200yen , and Keihan railway 1day ticket 750yen. They are useful ,too. Thank you for your review. We are looking forward to seeing you in the future !!

I booked a twin room for 2 adults and 2 children (both aged at 8) from booking.com. I was informed by the web page that breakfasts were included and no extra charge for children.
However upon checked in, I was told to pay for children’s breakfast. Hotel staff even printed out confirmation email sent by booking.com with small print about breakfast policy (they seemed had a lot of similar complaint so that they were well trained to show this evidence.) But the email was sent AFTER I made reservation which is totally not reasonable.
Anyone who staying with children at this hotel should be aware of this hidden and sneaky charge.

The facilities were fine, but the response was terrible.
I forgot my charger and I'll call you as soon as I can! I couldn't tell, because the cleaning was outsourced.
If you stay for a consecutive night, you will be charged the price you have paid, and it will be four hours before we issue you a receipt after the correction is paid. It's hard to understand.

The hotel locates about ten minutes walk from Kaihan Line and about fifteen minutes walk from JR Inari station. Besides that, there are convenient stores, NTT Docomo shop, restaurants and post office (for international ATM) nearby. The front desk opens 24 hours. The staffs are very nice and friendly. The key is the old styled key which guests have to deposit with front desk staffs before going out every time. I think this is good and nice policy. I'm confident with the security system as I had to show either my passport or key envelop for front staffs to check with their system before they give me the key. The room size is small, but not the problem of mine as I travel alone and I have a small asian body size. For people who has big body size may have to reconsider before making decision, because you may have problem with the shower. The heating and warm shower system works perfectly for me. The internet Wifi is just the best and very fast. Even though my room 1320 is right at the front of the building, I did not here any noise from the road. I think the building has good acoustic design. Besides, the room has window. This is way better than any hotel in a big city that I have been. The housekeeping did a great job on cleaning the room and keep replacing towels everyday. There are toiletry available for any of whom don't carry them with you. I room rate was a good deal and it had the same rate with other shared room hotel. Every floor has vending machine for drinks and washing machine for self servicing. I can see the mountainous range view from my room even it 's on third floor.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It's a bit out of the way, but much more affordable than other hotels in Kyoto. The room was tiny, but again, can't expect too much for the price in Japan. All the necessities were provided, including a fridge, toothbrush, toothpaste, safe, etc. there are a ton of restaurants around, although you won't find any with English menus. We enjoyed staying in this area--it made us feel like we were seeing more than just the touristy side of Kyoto. It's about a 10-minute walk from either the JR line or the Keihan line to the hotel.
This hotel can be hard to find, so here's some directions: Take the Nara line (tracks 9 & 10) from Kyoto Station. When you come out of the train station, turn right walk until you see the tracks, cross over the tracks to the other side of the station and continue straight on that road until you hit a dead end at a pretty big road (if you walk more than 1-2 mins, you're going the wrong way). Turn left and continue walking down that road past the university on the left and right, over the big intersection, past the coffee shop/gas station on the right, and it will be on the right, across the street from a Family Mart and a bakery.
YOu can also take the Keihan line to get into Kyoto for sightseeing, which is a different station, but the directions are the same.

It's a great hotel. Staff is extremely helpful but I found as I moved further from Tokyo, people spoke less English. The location is great. Get off the JR at Inari station. As you get out you are in front of the Inari shrine. Don't worry about seeing it at that moment with your back pack and everything. Go to the hotel. It's very close. The shrine is a mountain hike. You'll see folks with their suitcases visiting the shrine. Trust me you'll pass it twice a day. Ok facing the shrine go right. When you pass the first set of tracks turn right. Cross the bridge. Turn left. Start walking on that path. Pass the first bridge keep going at the second bridge turn right. Keep walking till you see the gas station. Turn left. Keep walking the hotel is on the right side of the street across from the family mart. Also there is a delicious bakery shop right next door. Everything is 100 yen plus tax. Great hotel. Very comfortable. And they held my suitcase for me when I went to the royokan for one night. Then I returned. The walk from Inari station to the hotel is less than a kilometre. Enjoy

We each stayed in a single room and it was perfect for our needs. The rooms were OK in size and it was great to be able to open the window to let in some fresh air. Thhe airconditioner worked well. It was easy to catch the south 5 (minami 5) bus from Kyoto station - the bus stopped about 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Get off the bus at the university stop (the Uni building is on the right of the bus) and then walk in the same direction that the bus continues to go, cross at the crosswalk, continue up the street to the convenience store and then cross to the other side of the road when you can - the hotel is just past the service station - walk through the hotel parking lot to the front entrance. The bus going back to Kyoto station is about 2 minutes walk from the hotel just in front of the service station. The last bus from Kyoto station is at 9.20pm from stand C4 - walk past the D stands and around to the C stands. We caught the last bus the first time we went to the hotel and easily found the hotel at this time of night - 230 yen per trip. The 540 yen light breakfast was really nice and filled us up as neither of us seemed to need lunch despite a busy day of sightseeing. Showers were hot and strong and the rooms were spotless. Pillows were on the hard side. Would definitely stay here again. We got the 500 yen bus day pass (purchased at the hotel) which got us around to all the sights with ease - I researched which buses to catch prior to getting to Kyoto.
